Hi team! 💜 Hope this tutorial style video was helpful for anyone who felt a bit behind in their setup 😊 Would love to know what your MVPs are in your journal! Remember you can grab easy printable resources for your setup over in the free resource library 👌 Just helps make setting up faster 😝 mail.jashii.com/resources
As someone who decided a little too last minute to try bullet journaling this year, and is still waiting to get it in the mail, I very much appreciate this video 😅
Lets go MVP’s!!! there are so many people that needed to hear this one. When time & capacity is limited. This helps you get to the planning and executing without all the the hair, pulling in hand ringing. Our time is limited, we can still put the most important information down on the paper.
My best decision was switching to a non-January planner. This time of year is too hard to really setup a new planner. Instead, I’m very happy with how my existing, established planner guides me through the year end. I can think about my fresh goals, rather than building a whole new everything from scratch at the same time!
So I’m adopting the cycle-year, but mine starts “officially” on the 6th of January bc of how I mapped out the 4 week blocks. It’s been really lovely to have the extra mental “pause” between ending last year and starting this one, without feeling like I need to rush to get stuff done by the 1st, etc.
I do MVPs in a A6 bujo for Index, Monthly, brain dump, Expenses that month, and then straight to rapid logging. It's something I can carry in my pocket to start the year right away. I have my A5 bujo that takes the bulk of the goals, reflection, collections and monthly summeries which is in a middle of a setup. Gives me some time to layout things without hindering my day to day tasks at the start of the year.
As someone who decided to try bullet journaling last minute for health problems+school (I got diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome in November 2024..) and wanted to start the new year fresh, I was VERY confused what to do after making the front page all decorative because my brain was filled with sooo many ideas and seeing other bujo setups on youtube made me so overwhelmed.. After watching this video I currently finished setting up the key, index, future log, goals, period tracker etc.. Thank you so much💜💜 I really appreciate it
@sethumi2627 its fine to journal in whatever kind of notebook you want! Most people use a dotted one because it allows more freedom for boxes and arty things, but any other kind of paper works just as well
Thanks for this! I finally set up my journal. I got one that I like so much, I was procrastinating writing in it. It's not perfect, but it's done and being used. That's what it's for after all!
Dude 🤯 wtf have you been all this time 😭 thank you so much for those print outs, you just relieved my AuDHD brain from a lot of bullcrap and distractions. Seriously, I can’t thank you enough 🎊✨✨✨💛💛💛✨✨✨
Awesome video, as always. For numbering, I only number the right pages when I'm doing a big job. I do number until at least halfway, because I don't remove pages and I don't mind having a gap if I ever do need to remove one (or accidentally have a double pageset on a certain number, because I screwed up and missed a page earlier), but only numbering the right side made it go so much quicker, because you don't have to actually turn the page, just scoop the corner on your other finger and you can quickly go through the book. That, in combination with the fact that with prenumbering, I go to 108 and than continue with 10, omitting the extra 1, makes that numbering a complete journal only costs me 3 minutes (and 6 seconds). I love the fact that you give the time it takes, so I numbered a journal that I hadn't done yet just for that extra bit of information. (It contains my short-long term goals, and that is so linear that it doesn't even have an index. As in: It starts with a double page with 3 goals for my 5-year plan, which then has room for 5 sets of 3 year goals. The next double page starts with the first set of 3 yearly goals copied from the previous page, followed by 4 sets of 3 quarterly goals (only filling in 1 set at the time). The next double page: the first set of 3 quarterly goals copied, followed by 3 sets of room for 3 monthly goals, followed by a weeklyhabit tracker for 13 weeks The next double page: you guessed it - the first set of 3 monthly goals copied, followed by 4-5 sets of 3 weekly goals (the 5th week is always the 13th week, to keep my months 4 weeks each, so month might be a bit misleading). After that I just continue continue with another 2 monthly d.pages, adding a quarterly d.page, 3 more monthly d.pages, you get the idea. My daily goals are in my day planner, which is full after just 1 quarter and generally not stored).
This is just what I needed today - thank you! I’m coming back to bullet journaling and my notebook arrived a day early. Woo! Loved your reminder to keep it simple. I just want to find my groove again, I tend to spent too much time thinking.
I made some major setups for my projects and trackers before Jan 1st but I finished the monthly pages for January (just a future log and a to-do list, I'm trying to keep it simple in hopes that I'll actually use the journal) yesterday, but not before sketching some ideas and erasing all over and over 😅
Thank you for the printables. I hadn't thought to include a year at a glance, but it would be really helpful in my planning. Inspiring ideas, as always.
Love this video and wish it had existed when I started my first journal several years ago.I love making my monthly calendar, but until I got a grid spacing ruler from one of my Scribbles That Matter BUJO's, it was taking me forever to create this layout! My big advice to anyone starting out is to create a grid spacing ruler/guide if monthly calendars are important to you. This simple item saved me so much counting! :D
hi Jashii, could you do a handlettering video on your handwriting? you have a reaaally nice cursive handwriting and i want to be able to copy it. it's the one you use for basically all headers
@@JashiiCorrin printing out the materials alone would take me about half an hour, if arguing with my printer and a minor breakdown count towards the time 😂
I love your handwriting and would love to learn to write like this. Could you make a font out of it? Or did you have a inspiration for your handwriting?
Hello! I have just discovered your channel and really enjoying your content. May I ask where you get your bullet jounrals from? I live in the South Island, NZ and can't find them here.
Thanks, I am new to this and my Journal should be here next week. I was already overwhelmed with how to setup. Double Sided tape vs. Glue stick for Calendar?
My personal preference is double-sided tape, but that's because I find glue sticks messy (probably user-error, haha) I also sometimes find that the wetness of a glue stick can cause the page to wrinkle a little which bothers me, but if that doesn't bother you then glue stick is totally fine 😊
I have been binge watching your videos this last week, I'm poorly with flu so havent had chance to set up my journal yet and instead I've been watching you. Do you by chance have a name for the beautiful script lettering that you use for many of the titles? I see it in so many of your videos and I've searched everywhere for a name but can't find it at all.
@JashiiCorrin oh amazing, thank you so much! I'm hoping to get back into lettering this year and that one is just so gorgeous! Aw thanks, hopefully I'll be well enough to get to my desk tomorrow. I'm almost not mad about being ill though as I've your channel has given me so much great inspiration to use for my initial set up, I'm really excited about how this year's set up is going to look and how much it'll help me achieve stuff

Heck yeah 💪 The MVP method is definitely one to keep in mind for busy seasons 👌

The queen 👑 has spoken : we’re NOT too late ⏰! Thank you 🙏 for this one! Great set up and great 👍 video ❤Happy new year 🎉🎉🎉
I'm so happy you made this video😭❤️ It is like dedicated to me! This truly minimalist style I was wishing for🤩 Thank you so much!😊🙏

btw is it fine if i'm using a square ruled book cuz I couldn't ask my dad to buy me a bujo last minute?

Yup, still barely set up mine....couldn't decide on the book to use, that was my delay...lol!
Can completely understand that 😂!
It was quite helpful.
Glad you found it useful! 💜
this was SO helpful! Thanks for these simple and straight forward options!!

I was planning my new bujo since October but I started the setup at December 31 😅
Haha yeah 😅 I’ve had similar happen to me before too. Hopefully you’re all set up now! 🤞

@JashiiCorrin yayyy! love it :)
Thanks I needed that. 🧡
Most welcome! 💜 glad it was helpful 😊
Thank you! 😀
Most welcome! 💜
I just want to point out that I did this minimal prep and it took me quite a bit of time. 😂 I'm not artistic so I'm very slow. 🤦🏼♀️😊
We do certainly get faster at it the more we practice. For me, the whole setup (just setting up, not running my mouth 😂) took about 20ish minutes
@@JashiiCorrin printing out the materials alone would take me about half an hour, if arguing with my printer and a minor breakdown count towards the time 😂
@JashiiCorrin twenty minutes is a dream! It's fine by me, though. I'll get quicker with practice. Well, that's what I tell myself. 😂
@emdove lol this would take two hours! My printer despises Windows 11. And, I'd have to call my son for help...😑😂
Bookmarking this for when my journal eventually arrives in the mail 😂 January 5th and counting
Hi Jess, is the black pen used in these set up’s archival ink? Thanks.
I did that to myself last year with the sticky notes
Can be a great way to hold space for the layouts when we don’t have the time to action them just yet, yeah 👌
I love your handwriting and would love to learn to write like this. Could you make a font out of it? Or did you have a inspiration for your handwriting?
The titles are inspired by a font called "Australia Script" 😊 For general handwriting though, that's just a basic all-caps 👌
Hello! I have just discovered your channel and really enjoying your content.
May I ask where you get your bullet jounrals from? I live in the South Island, NZ and can't find them here.
Mine are from Archer & Olive but they can be a bit pricey to get shipped to NZ. We do have international stockists closer to home though!
Does anyone know how often does A&O restock because I looked at their site and most of their journals were sold out. 😢
Thanks, I am new to this and my Journal should be here next week. I was already overwhelmed with how to setup. Double Sided tape vs. Glue stick for Calendar?

How are your title letterings called and where can I learn them? They're so pretty!
They're based on a font called "Australia Script" 💜
