  • St. George Forane Church Edappally
    Asia’s largest shrine to Saint George, about five million people visit it every year. The church is thought to have been founded in 593 AD. It is regarded as one of the oldest churches in Kerala, after the seven churches founded by Thomas the Apostle in the first century AD.

    Subhash Park is a beautiful park located next to the boat jetty and opposite to Maharaja's College in the heart of Ernakulam. It's a public park which is maintained by the corporation of Cochin.
    Marine Drive is the most happening place in the heart of Kochi. The picturesque area, built facing the backwaters, is the main hangout place for people inside and outside Kochi. Whoever visits for sightseeing in Cochin, never leaves the town without paying a visit to the Marine Drive. The magnificently built Marine Drive that is 3 kilometer long walkway on the shore of Vembannattu Kayal would surely offer a pleasant experience to its visitors.     Fort Kochi, the western part of the Kochi city of Ernakulam district in Kerala. It is about 12 km away from Ernakulam Town. Fort Kochi has played an important role in the history of Kerala. Fort Kochi also has several attractions like the Santa Cruz Basilica. Fort Kochi also houses many historical monuments such as the St. Francis Church, the first church of Vasco da Gama, the Dutch Seminary, the China Vela and many others. The Indian Navy’s ship, Dronacharya, is located in Fort Kochi.
    The Mattancherry Palace is close by. Fort Kochi was the first European township in Kerala. The Fort Kochi carnival celebrates New Year’s Eve every year. Thousands of people come to visit this carnival.
    Mattancherry Palace
    The Palace was built and gifted by the Portuguese as a present to the king of Cochin around 1545. The palace was built to appease the king after they plundered a temple nearby. The palace is a quadrangular structure built in Nālukettu style, the traditional Kerala style of architecture, with a courtyard in the middle. Certain elements of architecture, as for example the nature of its arches and the proportion of its chambers are indicative of European influence in basic Nālukettu style
    The Santa Cruz Cathedral Basilica in Fort Kochi is one of the eight Basilicas in India. This heritage edifice of Kerala is also one of the finest and imposing churches in India. Located close to the renowned St. Francis Church, this basilica serves as the cathedral church of the Diocese of Cochin, the second oldest Diocese of India.
    The history of Santa Cruz Cathedral Basilica dates back to the sixteenth century and begins with the arrival of Portuguese missionaries in 1500 CE. The construction works started when the first Portuguese Viceroy Dom Francisco de Almeida got permission from the Cochin Raja to build a church. The foundation stone was laid on May 3, 1505, the feast day of the 'Invention of the Holy Cross', hence the church was named Santa Cruz. Meanwhile the church had undergone some serious demolition and re-erection. The present day structure was consecrated on 19 November 1905. In 1984 Pope John Paul II raised the status of Santa Cruz Cathedral to Basilica for its antiquity, artistic dignity and historical importance.
