BUYING A MOTORCYCLE: Things to consider! (4K+stickers)

This list is not an officially ordained list by the motorcycle forefathers. These are simply warnings that I felt needed to be passed onto potential new riders based on my own personal experiences.
▪️Finances- Obviously, money is always number 1! But there is more to the money here than the purchasing cost of the bike.
▪️Insurance- While it seems obvious, it can definitely be overlooked initially as the small costs that come with motorcycle ownership can sneakily start to stack up.
▪️Maintenance- The silent killer! Even the most reliable of bikes will attack your wallet, time, and patience with a proper maintenance schedule, let alone the unscheduled maintenance.
▪️Gear- Are you starting to get the hint? Gear costs....you guess it...money! But risking your grape for the sake of saving a dollar is not the right way to enjoy your freedom on two wheels.
▪️Bike Size- I don't think this is talked about enough. Don't let a dealership salesman, a friend, or a sly private seller try to sell you onto a bike that performs beyond your current capabilities. The only one looking after you is YOU!
▪️Storage- Don't forget, bikes can be easily stolen. Take care of your investment the best way you can.
▪️Test Ride- A good general rule is to not buy a bike that you're not allowed to test ride and run through the gears first.
▪️Negotiate- Its your money until you hand it over!
▪️Safety Courses- No one, and I mean no one, is too good to not get gooder.
▪️Set your own standards- Draw a line in your sand and then be about that action, boss!

Even if you're buying from a dealer make sure to double and triple check vin numbers! A dealer had two identical bikes and when I purchased one some of the paperwork had the other bike's vin on it. It was quick and easy for the dealer to fix but errors on private party sales are a MUCH bigger pain. You don't want to be the one at the DMV left holding the bag after you've just dropped a bunch of $$ on your new toy.
Also I try not to give people shit for not wearing safety gear but after seeing my brother have a lifechanging wreck I won't leave the house without every single piece of kit I've got.

Just started riding, bought an 04 Fatboy and gonna ride the hell out of it for a few years and then buy a long-distance touring bike.
I love my Fatboy. Mines a ‘94 but I’ve turned it into what I now call a Muscle Boy 😂
@@Battlebotmoto Regarding the gloves, I wear HandUp Gloves on my mountain bike and decided to try them on the Fatty, they're obviously not gonna protect you like mc gloves will but living in TX, we suffer the heat like ya'll do and I figured some gloves are better than no gloves, and they're light enough.
Dude, those Navy dentist screwed my mouth too. When I got out I had to have two root canals they put the temporary crowns on and both broke off with in three days. Something for those that are mechanically inclined they might consider when bargaining is to add up the approximate cost of repairs/ maintenance that is going to be required and ask for half that amount off the original asking price. If they are reasonable they should consider it, but if not you need to be prepared to walk away.

A good source for used bikes is if you can find a good local bike shop that displays bikes for I bought my Road King from my mechanic and it was another guys bike he was just selling as middle man. But still when I had my only problem which was a rusted internally back rim he fixed one charging like 100bucks for a replacement wheel and maintenance even though it wasn't technically bought from him.

These are Factory 47’s version of 12” meat hooks. There are a few other makers of meat hooks out there, but I would probably avoid finding out on the highway that my Amazon bought handlebars are cheap Chinese metal 😬 😂

I would suggest taking the safe riding course in the state you live in before buying a bike to, give you a taste of how it feels. A lot of the metric bike dealers will not let you test ride what's on the floor, yep name was pronounced correctly, you have given all good points to use. Most Harley deals have a medical history, if you give them the vin #.
