- Honestly, this broke me down 9 hours in...
I tried to listen to the C.I.A's infamous torture playlist for 24 hours straight. This was by far one of the hardest psychological challenges I've undertaken. This was not fun...

Imagine being a song artist, putting your heart and soul into making a cheery song that makes people feel happy, and then finding out that it was used by the CIA to torture people. That's a big oof.
yes
Yes
I don't think it's the fact it's a "bad" song, I think it's because how much it's repeated, if you where really tortured, these songs could last up from hours to weeks (depending on how you would last), they could play any song, but I think it's the way the are played, playing that cat song first then playing something else (like seen in the video) can really change how the person feels such as playing a song they may have heard before and feeling hopeless because of that song remembering the freedom they had before being tortured (as if I made you sit in a dark room made of steel and after a few hours put you in a room that looks like your bedroom), or the album on UA-cam is fake and just made up (possibly is, because there's way worse stuff you can force a person to listen too).
If the CIA was in a pinch and forgot their music collection but needed to torture someone, any Billy Joel album would work just fine, especially if it was me they wanted to break.
@@modusartsgroup they can just put vegan teachers songs on repeat and that’s all they gotta do to break a man.
You saw how only an annoying soundtrack can affect someone. Now imagine that playlist is blasting while you're in a bland white room with no windows, bright lights shining in your face, and immense anxiety from trying to hide something from scary men in suits. These forms of interrogations are just a bunch of little things that wear on you over time
Don't assume the CIA always "Gets their man". What about the anxiety that happens when you don't have anything to hide from them. And they don't believe you. That's more common.
Yup. It was actually much easier for the creator to do it than if he was actually being tortured. Since he had access to a window, a clock to tell him how long it's been going, food, other people, a chair, and even just the knowledge that it would eventually end and he could stop it at anytime. Take all of those factors away and this becomes much MUCH worse.
They are most likely also tied tightly to the chair.
Sometimes evem innocent people confess things they never done so the torture can stop.
@@elainehelmont4647 If you’re being interrogated by the CIA you are someone who is a known associate and have been being watched, photographed, and recorded for months if not years this isn’t for petty street crimes😂
The only reason this challenge was kinda "doable" is because he set a goal and knew the time.
Under interrogation you probably wont see the time and break after some time.
Mad respect in any way.
Yes probably if he didn't have access to a clock it would have been worse.
And also you can't legally replicate the feeling of being in a white room in Guantanamo bay
And not knowing wtf the officers are planning to do to you next, the pain of knowing this is proof free of a torture
also he's in his house w someone for support too, overall unimpressing recreation
Wufs
People that were tortured with this never knew what time it would end… That’s just gets me for some reason, it give me a sense of hopelessness.
Just like christmas music in mall
They also wouldn't have a window or be visited by loved ones. You would have no clear indicator of time that had passed, you would have nothing to do, nothing to look at, you probably couldn't even sleep due to how bright the rooms light was. All you would have is the music, and maybe a short break to use the bathroom before they threw you back in.
@@realdragon I know that feeling too well. Stocking shelves at Walmart, and hearing the same 4 songs all day for the entire month of December

@@DaraTah so true
The gf giving support and being able to treat yourself to whatever dish you're craving really softens the blow. Just imagine what the POW feels especially being hosed down while trying to sleep and having flashing lights randomly happen to break the repetitivenes. That still doesn't include water boarding while being questioned about your personal life and relations to others.
Don't forget the most important part : knowing that it will finish in X amount of time and that nothing worst will come !
You see a few movies and automatically your an expert they should really take notes from you
@@jlooks95 are you really gonna be that butthurt over a comment involving somebody putting themselves in someone else's shoes? Really!? It really must suck to be you

@@fabienherry6690 I actually learned that from a podcast of someone who legitimately interrogated people for a living. He admitted some things so harsh I can't even comment it on here without getting flagged
Imagine being a battle hardened soldier who got captured by the CIA just to hear the Meow song 24 hours straight
God that’s a war crime in of it self
HAHAHAAHAHAAA
Apparently they would often use it after blasting heavy metal for a few hours, the change in tone is apparently incredibly jarring.
ye and youd also have other more messed up things happening to u like rape and cut at the same time and prob on drugs that make u go crazy
@user-ku4wy2nz1f Uhh.. no? Not really lmao..
And now imagine having to sit through this with no camera or people to talk to, knowing that you cannot simply, give up and walk out the room whenever you like
Also probably with no food or a window
Well... you could... that's the whole point actually, they want you to give up and confess
Maybe you even got kidnapped or arrested
Now imagine being this guy's next door neighbor.
@@rodrigo9554 pretty sure they gotta give them food lmao, if not that would probably be breaking some laws lmao
Imagine when you get arrested and the CIA just starts playing the meow meow song
bro you gotta stop right at CIA if your arrest somehow gets the CIA involved theres a problem
@@gordonramsay8351 Very valid point XD, maybe you should be listening to the meow song
I would have broke right away.
Or.... Baby shark
@@gordonramsay8351 Not all the time, the CIA is a fucking worthless group.
The sad part is that the guys who were interrogated by this song, were listening to it for weeks after weeks, while they are in a bland white room, or a full dark room
My god the horror
It should be abundantly clear that this was "super easy mode". Normally you don't know how long you already had to listen to that and how long you will still have to listen to that. And normally you will be exposed to additional torture such as sleep deprivation and isolation. Also, normally you know that you need to give them something which they will find satisfactory, so you get at least some relief from one of the torture methods.
Also, this is basically how false confessions are being made. E.g. confessions that were used as basis for the war in Iraq which destabilized the country, made life more miserable for Iraqis, cost many US soldiers their life, and was a major contributor to the IS.
Torture simply doesn't work, and doesn't only break the victim, but also the torturer. Unless he is a sick sadist, of course. In this case, he is already broken beyond repair.
Honestly, after reading part of the Guantanamo Bay files leak, I'm absolutely sure the CIA Agents who torture people can't even be considered human anymore. (I know, I know, torture is used in other places of the world, but because one country does something wrong, it DOES NOT justifies the US repeatdly commiting war crimes and crimes against humanity, there's no "lesser evil" in war)
Bro chill out, it still challenged him and you don't want him to end up like Kenny Veach, the guy who visited a cave he ran away from just so his viewers demand him go there never to be found out again
@@mitsuki1388 welcome to war it’s just how it is no avoiding it
Well done dude... great will power. Mental health is a serious issue, but I imagine your girlfriend would have stepped in if it gotten much worse. Can't imagine what this must have been like, I imagine if you don't have anyone who cares about you knowing about your situation and don't know that the music is gonna stop at some point, you will break down and lose your mind... but I guess then you get the opton of confessing to the CIA before that hapens.
Thank you man! Yeah it was way tougher than i expected. also i have been watching a lot of your fights! even saw fight commentary breaking down your kung fu ones! so cool. It's really intriguing me!
@@DaraTah Thanks, yeah, it's interesting following one another :)
They won't stop if you confess, they keep going and going until people are dead or insane just in case you might be hiding something, after all they don't know if you're telling the truth
not knowing when it will stop is so crucial. People who do such challanges usually never point out how worse it would be. Its still impressive he did this, but I think in real life, you break a lot easier if you believe it will go on forever. For example, People who lived alone in the wilderness alone for content, often talk about how hard it gets mentally, but actually thinking to never see any person again would break me very, very quick I imagine.
next you should do the entirety of "everywhere at the end of time ~ the caretaker", doing it in one sitting absolutely broke me, to the point where I had to pause it so I could sit down and bawl my eyes out. it's insane.
Listening to that album brings my mood down like 2 notches.
I did the same, and I would wake up suddenly after hearing loud, distorted noises from the composition, sweating and gasping for air, several times a night 2-3 nights afterwards. Never experienced anything remotely similar before.
I can't give the whole thing a listen, it's so boring lol
That composision is true beauty and utter horror..
bruh, when i first found out about Caretaker i couldn't even finish the damn thing
Imagine how long these songs are going to be stuck in his head for
Was thinking the same!
The song being stuck in the head is not worst - I think that their sanity is completely and utterly destroyed, at least for an unknown period of time, that is scary
I think I accidentally did this to myself when I played my favorite song on repeat while I was asleep. I went from being in love with the song, to experiencing strong feelings of hatred, anger and disgust towards it once I woke up.
Same except i was on a 24hr+ airplane flight to asia and wasnt able to lay down on the cramped airplane seat so i just had to sit there all day listening to the song while flying
Thats why you dont make your fave song your ringtone.
lmao I did it except it was a music video that was at top when I searched cia torture music. I played it for some time but it did nothing much. I said lets try sleeping to it. I did enter sleep and woke up after 4 hours. I felt horrible. I was more tired than i was before sleeping. It felt like someone made me walk for 30 miles and then hit me in the head a couple of times and It even felt like I vomited.
Imagine being tortured when you’re innocent
You’d have made up any incriminating bullshit just to get them to stop

I Work in a Special Ed class and one of the children has a set of talking tiles with different song on them. And they have the capacity one round about one minute. Everyday he brings one of them to class and then we hear this one song, one minute of it over and over and over and over... It´s some kind of torture, but luckily we have two rooms and we can change to be his supervisor so that we dont get insane.
*Soon after, I got really strong feelings of total hopelessness, and I hit my lowest point.*
Listening to Brittney Spears for an hour will do that to you.
Yeah, imagine listening to Revolution 9 by the Beatles on repeat for 24 hours. I had to sit through like seven minutes of it in a concert, and it was an absolute acid trip. Statistically speaking, there were probably five people there who were actually on acid, and I recon they were probably having a really bad time with it.
Honestly, after a few hours, I can block out repeating music and just zone out and daydream. HOWEVER, I know for a fact that it would be impossible for me to survive through this if I was actually being tortured
Imagine you make a song and it is so bad the CIA wants to include it in their torture playlist
dropped by the stream, hung out for half an hour when you started hearing noises with the meow song, i was like
nope
that's my cue
congratulations on completing & not going insane! (?)
Hahaha thank you! That’s too funny 😂
Memento Mori
Something like meow meow song is OK at least under the normal conditions, but I think this may turn that weird music from Lavender town from creepypasta to something real you definitely don't wan't to experience (with the full respect to composer, who captured the atmosphere he wanted so well). Just imagine listening to it for days and weeks... and it has no end...
For me personally this is the most frightening and quite obscure definition of true madness that went into my mind in the last years and that is not right to wish even to the worst person on earth.
See, you don't know me, I've listened to the spider-man pizza theme for 10 hours straight, straight tv static for equally enough time and quite a lot of other stuff that's similar. I accept your challenge CIA.
Got anything to hide?
If so
We wanna know ur location
i did the fresh prince theme for an hour and wanted to scream by the end
Try to listen to summer time song from regular show for 10 hours
Use rero rero on loop. Its becoming uhh
Despite the fact this is “incredibly effective” I think it’s very important to note he didn’t give in, which is actually quite scary considering all he had to lose was a ringing bell and the loss of respect of some internet strangers, and possibly loss respect for himself, but what about people who the CIA would actually use this on? They may have their own lives to lose if they give up, I’d think they’d have even more resolve, even if it goes on longer than 24 hours
He got support from other people and he knew exactly when it will end. Thats a big advantage. Which I dont mind because it was funny now. But in RL its far far worse
They do not just play music...
@@johnsmith-fy8jo From what little is known about this type of torture the sound of crying babies is supposed to be very popular. Humans are hotwired to feel discomfort at hearing it and as we all know it's almost impossible to concentrate when you hear a baby cry. With a blindfold and the sound of crying babies being played non-stop you quickly lose all sense of time and place. Add to that irregular mealtimes and within days many would probably be spilling everything they know.
@@Valkbg the c.i.a be searching for you?

My favorite part is when the inspectors showed up. Just imagine going to inspect someone's apartment only to walk in to such an outlandish scene
Problem is the CIA prisoners don't get fed, they're often in small spaces and barely see daylight.
You can go really crazy.
As an old-time fan of Britney Spears, I would have laughed too. "Joke's on you, I'm into that sh*t!"
I would imagine a key factor to this is the being chained to a spot and knowing how long you have to drag through. It makes it worse
