I purchased a pair of these exact boots in December 2020. They are my first pair of cowboy boots ever. I LOVE them. I wear them as much as possible during the cooler parts of the year.
I purchased two pairs of Tecovas. The Cartwright and The Doc. The Cartwrights are the pointy traditional cowboy style. These boots are very comfortable, and they fit slightly tougher than the other model that I purchased. The Doc has a square tip, and it fits more loosely than the Cartwright. However, they are so comfortable that you believe you are not wearing a boot but a flip flap. The leather is so smooth and flexible that it feels more like you have been wearing them for a very long time. These two pairs are hands down the best boots that I have ever worn. I had to edit my posting because I forgot to mention that once your soles or heels are worn, the factory will resole them for free.
@lilbean4223 Hello there, Lilbean Yes, they are true to size, and they will fit your feet like if you were wearing them already for a while. These Tecovas are very comfortable and soft. Go ahead and order them. You will not be sorry you did.
Tecovas are good for the money. I got a pair of smooth ostrich Tecovas that were under $300. Very comfortable and super nice. I would not try to work in them or do anything that would put harsh wear on them… but if you like western wear and want a nice pair of boots for normal wear they are a great buy. My dad was a cowboy and he always wore Justin boots for dirty work, and Tony Lama for cowboying as early as 1951. Lucky me that I only wear them for fashion. Cowboy work is tough. Lol
Welcome to the world of cowboy boots! I got the black Cartwrights second hand off of Ebay, and I love them! Black cowboy boots are my favorite! I wore them a lot when I was kid! Then I stopped wearing boots during my teen years and then, after 2 decades, I got back into wearing them again.
one thing that you did miss is that they also do have brass tacts as well as lemon wood pegs. I love my tecovas boots. i got the docs and they are great
I bought the Jackson boots a few years back, and they've been a great pair of boots for every occasion! I understand the Jacksons have been discontinued, do you have any information as to why they're no longer available?
Been obsessed with your channel! The wife got me my first pair of good boots for xmas in 2016 (Iron Rangers) and I'm just now looking into a second pair of boots. Could you do a video on the Thursday majors? I can barely find any info anywhere on them!
I follow you in both UA-cam and Instagram, glad you posted this as I am l looking into getting a cowboy/western boots added to my collection. Do you know what kind of stitching Tecovas use on their boots?
Just curious if you’ve been bitten by the bug and are planning on buying any more western boots for the channel? My first pair were a pair of Ariat Workhog that obviously I wore to work when I was in the field. I wouldn’t say that I loved those boots but I did become curious with the style. I’m now in the office & after a trip to Nashville in June and visiting the Tecovas store, my wife picked up their “Roy” for me. I really wanted the “Nick” but those were really hard to find in my size as they were a limited run. I’ve been bitten and have a pair of the Thursday Desperados in Arizona Adobe coming for Christmas. I wanted something of an everyday western boot with the comfort, style and a rubber sole that can withstand the elements better. My next western will be a roper, either Tecovas “Earl” in Stout Bovine or if I like the Thursday, their “Frontier” in Brown for dressier occasions.
I've always liked cowboy boots. I think they look great. I'd like to wear a pair every now and then, but I'm no cowboy. I drive a pickup, sure, but I don't listen to country music (or western) 🌵. I'm just not sure I could pull it off. It seems to be working just fine for Billy though... maybe I'm over-thinking it. (Loved the whip sound effect at the end of the video. Nice touch 👌)
Yeah, I definitely thought the same. When you're wearing them, they don't really look all that different from any other pair of boots. Thanks for watching!
Yes, you are over thinking it. You don't need to be a cowboy to wear the boots just like you don't need to be a basketball player to wear basketball sneakers. I own 15 pairs of cowboy boots (some I've had for over 15 years). You will enjoy them. If you find the right fit they feel like a comfortable pair of sandals.
Really really on the fence about buying myself a pair, debating between these and roper boots Tecovas offer, just hesitant if I want to go all the way with the cartwright
that's pretty much exactly what cowboy boots do. very comfortable and a snug fit if you get the right size. look into different sizes and fits on different feet shapes.
@@seanc5878 cowboy boots are supposed to be put on/off by simply sliding your foot into/out of them, and because of that, they will never provide the same compression that a lace-up pair of boots can. a pair of lace-ups allows you to further tighten the boot once your foot is already inside. I still like cowboy boots, but they just cant provide the same snug feel that lace-ups can
@@teddyperkins3406 "cowboy boots are supposed to be put on/off by simply sliding your foot into/out of them" Not exactly. If they slide on and off easily they don't fit correctly. A proper fitting boot takes force to put the foot into it and fits like a glove when properly fitted. You should actually hear a _whoosh_ of air from your foot going into the boot, it's that snug. So yeah, Idk where you got this idea that cowboy boots aren't supposed to fit the foot snugly but it couldn't be further from the truth.
@@teddyperkins3406all the air in the boot should go out when you put your boot on actually giving you a quite nice snug fit against the vamp and you should hear a little pop when you put it on, and taking off boots shouldn’t be as easy as slipping them off
Unnecessarily rude comment. I literally grew up wearing cowboy boots being born in western Colorado in the 50’s. They are purpose built footwear that are designed for spending hours in the saddle, not rucking 30 miles through rough terrain. The toes are narrow so they slip in and more importantly out of stirrups. If toes are square or bulky they can hang up in the stirrup. If you’re thrown from the horse you can be dragged all over the west if your foot doesn’t come free. Likewise the high heel keeps the foot from sliding through the stirrup. The boots are high to protect your calf from the constant friction rubbing on the saddle. You really should wear cowboy boots with boot cut jeans and the inseam should be long. The jeans should touch the ground at the back of the heal and bunch up a bit at the front. Most guys wear their jeans too short. Never cuff your jeans. There are times when tucking your jeans inside your boots is acceptable. Never do it until you’ve been around enough to know when those times are.
Lucchese makes the best cowboy boot available, imo. I’ve also owned Justin, Tony Lamas, Tecovas and Frye. I own 6 sets of Lucchese ranging from 300-1000 per pair. My oldest set are over 20 years old and have been re-soled twice. I have one set of Tecovas for a specific color. They’re very nice but just not as great quality. I slip on a new pair of Lucchese and it’s like putting on an old friend. Take the plunge. You won’t be sorry.
The stitching on the toe is called the bug. It’s purpose is to allow the toe to break in comfortably without forming a crease.
Ooo great tidbit. Love it!
I was waiting for this comment 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

all the reviews say they fit true to size. do they? i just wanna be sure before ordering

FYI I purchased my first Tecova cowboy boot and am very satisfied. I appreciate your video helping me narrow my choices down to Tecova.

Justin no longer makes classic boots tho
A Tecovas store opened about a month ago just down the block. I'm going to buy this cartwright in the dark brown. Very cool cowboy boot.

The Scotch Goat variation is probably their hottest version of the Cartwright. They patina very well too.

Huge Tecovas fan here. Glad you got your first pair. Your whole outfit is on point! Would love to know what each piece is.
William, I recommend conditioning the Tecovas boots to assist with the break in. They look great ! Best regards.
Yeah buddy!! More cowboy boot videos 👍
Coming from the king himself!
Make sure you get some vibram sole savers put on them …or get the Jason’s which I have and love
What jeans are you wearing?

So glad you're enjoying the channel! Thank you for watching. I'll dig into it!
Boots with zippers are poor quality- I'd steer clear of the majors
@@ianharris3502 Thanks for the heads up!

The thumbnail howdy partner makes me feel rushing out to buy a pair of western boots 🤠👢👢
I'm considering either Cartwright or Bandera by TECOVAS
Did yours come with that dark colored toe? I thought about ordering the exact same pair, same color but I hate that dark colored toe and heal.

i felt the same way then bought my first pair. mad i waited this long... never looking back....
cowboy boots are just cool! I wouldn't worry about the cowboy stigma!
The cartwright is a sexy looking boot I'm probably gonna buy a pair!
love cowboy boots
M
They look perfect ! I like the heel !
I grew up in 50’s Colorado. I never liked men who never liked cowboy boots. You are no longer intolerable to me, barely.
Really really on the fence about buying myself a pair, debating between these and roper boots Tecovas offer, just hesitant if I want to go all the way with the cartwright
Go all the way… you’ll never look back
I just did the same, went with Cartwright. I liked the heel better and the overall looks better. Realize it may be harder to get on/off.
i prefer to have my boots fit me snug, but I just dont think i can get that with cowboy boots

You’re not wearing the right size then

I lasted just over one minute before heading to Rose Anvil for the proper review.
Oh nice!

I’m getting my first pair of cowboy boots soon aswell. I just turned 32, must be some kind of midlife crisis thing for us 🤣
Love everything besides the toe on these
I just can't see myself wearing cowboy boots .
the intro is way to fucking loud! good vid tho.
Tecovas are mid in every aspect. Theyre ok for the price

best boot I have.
These are cowboy boots for non cowboy boots wearers. Same category as iron rangers for hipsters.
Who cares
