The music is stylistically similar but as someone who's a composer arranger and musician they aren't really related at all when it comes to the melody's actually notes/scale or chord progression/keys. I get the similarity tho in how it's arranged, the style and instruments.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3's music references a lot of melodies and song structures from 1 and 2. More than you might find on youtube on a quick search. Here I gotta tell you though that you're mistaken. XCX has a completely different musical style and composer compared to XC 1-3. The only similiarity here is that an acoustic guitar is playing the melody. Of course I could never know for sure, but from what I hear, there isn't even an unintentional similiarity. Which music do you generally prefer? X's or 1-3?
Oh ok. I just thought that part of Theme X sounded a bit like Eagus Wilderness, but apparently I was wrong. As for my preference... Well, I've listened to a bit of X's OST (not all of it), and there are some chill pieces of music, but the rest of them are hype af. I haven't played the game, and I don't intend to watch the cutscenes and stuff because I hope they remake X on the Switch or its successor in the future, so I can play it; but from what I've seen (a few gameplay clips) the music goes waay harder than expected, when you're just there walking around in the city or whatever... I'm not sure I like that, but I don't hate it either... Idk what to think about the OST, I generally prefer instrumental music, I think... So I suppose that means I prefer XC1-3's music. I can't say for certain which game's (of the trilogy I mean) music I prefer, as I've only played 3 and just listened to some of 2 and 1's OST, but I love the flutes in 3, while the area exploration themes aren't as bombastic as 2 and 1's (Gaur Plains, Gormott...).

I see... it seems I was compeletely mistaken XD
This is like comparing a battle music with guitar solo to another battle music that also has a guitar solo.
