Wonderful to see such humble but skilled practitioners. Uechi-Ryu was my first style of karate many years ago, and I miss it. Even though I've been practicing Shito-Ryu much longer than I did Uechi-Ryu (there's no Uechi-Ryu dojos where I moved to), I still practice my iron body conditioning, Sanchin, and focus on the self-defense mindset that I learned in Uechi-Ryu.
I am pretty sure I fought Kanji when he was in Boston with the late Kanmei Sensei way back..... He brought one of his sons to GEM's Summer camps and that's the one I fought. Great memories, and good to 'see' him again.
i starter to learn uechi ryu at Malaysia since 7 years old followed a japanese senior who worked at Malaysia. After, seen he practice his style of karate, he teaches me since then. Now i am 47 years old. my japanese sensei (god father) passed away few years back. i really missed him and the technic he passed to me. His last wish was for me to go to Okinawa to continue the learning. I don't know if they would accept me or not.
Wow amazing ! I always wish Ryukyu Karate will continue to connect with children and grandchildren, and inherit traditional culture that can be proud of to the world from a small island ‼️
I developed my own martial art. I first run a few miles of trail in the wild, then climb in the wild then reach my dojo which is a clearing in the forest and there i train my techniques alone in any season. I am the funder of my own discipline.I don't need the comfort of a room indoor to train, i am used to train outdoor in the dense fresh air or in the hot summer air and i love it.
That's amazing, if ou don't mind can you tell me more about your training and own martial art, I woul be glad to know more about your martial art please.
@@luisalejandroalvarez8817 Thank you. I have background in Karate, Tae Kwon do and Kung Fu and last in boxing. So i used all that knowledge to make my own martial arts. I guess i did not create from scratch but adapted it to my body type. Training outdoors is very rewarding and the healthiest.
Maybe a silly question, but I noticed they each only have two stripes on their belts. I’ve seen other guys online who have more stripes, yet these brothers are the heads of the organization. How could an outsider outrank them? Or am I misunderstood?
We should all go old school and just wear a white belt. The more you train the darker the belt gets. A little Febreeze and your good to go, lol. 1 stripe 5 stripes who cares as long as you train.
The single stripe often represents 6th dan &/or Renshi title; They are head of Soke, that is the family system... but they did not inherit the lineage of being headmaster to Uechi-ryu. Kanei Uechi named Toyama Seiko Sensei as his successor. There is the black and white video on UA-cam that shows that happening.

❤❤❤❤❤❤
great masters head of Uechy ryu congatulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you very much for this video. Thank you to the Uechi family for perpetuating this wonderful art which is practiced and loved worldwide!
❤ Truly loved watching this. Thank you so much for sharing. As a Uechi Ryu karatka, this filled me with such joy.

I love that they joke and smile. :-) Great vid
The Uechi Family tradition continues. I wish you all great success!

@@ericastier1646 Thanks for the info, I'll practice very hard to improve too
The man went into the dojo bar and asked for a soke everyone in there bowed and said yes we each have a soke
Would love to train with these legends.
One Hard, One Soft ..both Masters :)

The stripes indicate their ‘shogo’ teaching title. One stripe for Renshi, two for Kyoshi, three for Hanshi.
@@BrysonKeenan No disrespect intended, but there is no red belt that the Hanshi wears in Uechi-ryu?

Good day sir
Greetings from Malaysia
Wish to learn the art of Uechi-ryu karate
Not sure any Sensei considers opening a dojo in Malaysia
Uechi-Ryu is not for the fainthearted. It is only for very serious practitioners, and not for those who seek a hobby.
Great family generation
Does anyone know the tile of music starting from 5:20? So brilliant!
Amazing to train with them.
Ippe Nifee Deebitan!
I'd like to be your student!.........Could you consider having online classes? I know is hard to accept for the tradicionals....Regards from Brazil.
Agreed! I would do it in a second as well
They both looks 40 at most. Kanji sensei even looks 30. Just wow
Love you guys
Arigato Gozaimasu Uechi Family !!!
Cool

He hasn't lost his balance
How many times has your master had his ass kicked?
