I mean there are some valid reasons besides the danger of Aspinal. Jones is a guy who bested 2 to 3 generations of fighters. How much more does he need to do? Already near 30 fights in the span of over a decade, and he promised the fans (Who wanted to see him fight Francis, and now want to see him fight Tom)
Why he insists on Stipe tho? We don't know much about his skills accept for the fact he is over 40. If he really wanted to prove himself, he should have fought Aspinal, or out of courtesy, letting him become the champion, stepping down, than facing Stipe in a non title fight. I have no issue with him retiring right after Ciryl.

Actually, Jones has everything to lose and nothing to gain by fighting Stipe. If Jones were to fight Aspinall and win it would undoubtedly cement his legacy as the best to ever do it, he beat the best before him, best during his time and if he beats Aspinall then the best after him as well.
Name any other heavyweight aside from
Ngannou and Jon also has nothing to gain and everything to lose.

Your takes on Tom Aspinal are spot on, its not called glazing when you literally say you THINK he is as good as he has shown.
And ironically the people who say Aspinal is getting "overrated" are the same ones that OVERRATE Jones and Pereira.
People dont think Aspinal is the "next big thing" just because he is AsPiNaL.
People think he is good because he has finished 6 out of his 8 fights inside 1 rd. 4 KO's and 2 Subs meaning that he is very well rounded, least amount of significant strikes thrown for the amounts of KO's that he has. And if you look at his fights he combines striking - clinching - wrestling seamlessly showing that he isn't just throwing prayers into his moves. He is also one of the few fighters that actually makes adjustments inside rounds which is even more impressive considering 7 of his 8 fights did not leave the first round (he still finished arlovski early 2rd)
Long story cut-short, Tom Aspinal has 7 wins inside 17mins, that means he averagely finishes his opponents inside 2:30 mins
He is completely steam rolling top 10 ranked HWs. Even if its "on paper" these stats did not just spawn, he made these things happen.
Now just explain if you disagree with "aspinal > jones", when was the last time Jones faced an opponent with these stats??
Aspinal is a genuine threat to Jones and its EXACTLY why he is refusing to fight Aspinal.
It’s also risk vs reward ratio. If Jones wins fans will say “he beat an interim champ he’s supposed to win”. If Jones loses then he lost to an interim champ with no legacy. It’s a lose lose scenario
@@philoubertjeanlouis4682 Maybe in 30 years, the stipe win will look better "on paper" than a interim champion Tom Aspinal. But for atleast the on going 5-10 years, A prime Aspinal win is going to look so MUCH better than a old 42 year old stipe coming off a KO loss 4 years ago. And it might age even better since Tom is still young and is likely going to dominate the HW for a while even IF he loses to Jones.
I also hate the fact that this entire drama has to revolve around Jones legacy, I get that he is the best fighter of all time, but its not just about Jones, he was given out of prime pride legends on the plate, and now he refuses to give a young deserving contender their chances. Also just a reminder that Jones is only 36, he is younger than Pereira yet one is just starting and the other is already playing sandbox mode.
Long story - short, Jones doesn't want to fight Aspinal because he knows he is LIKELY going to lose, is he afraid of Tom? probably not, does he thinks he destroys Aspinal 10/10 times? ABSOLUTELY not.

asking outta curiosity, when was last time u saw cejudo using his wrestling on a mma match? more or less, he stooped wrestling after he won the FW belt completely. Olympic, World Championship medals don't mean shit if you're not implementing in your matches, and in that case a normal guy with good wrestling threat can school henry for days.
