  • In this special episode, Knotorious rants about what the new climber and the new operator of a hitch cord needs to understand the most, starting with basics and expanding to more complex technicalities involving such as (fabric; eye to eye hitch cord) ascent/descent options. In order to master tree work or recreational climbing, you must first master the intricacies of the various cordages involved which serve not only as life support and access lines, but as rigging tools as well as other crucial applications, etc.
I apologize in advance if this skips around a lot. This entire video was ad lib'ed and this rant contains a huge amount of information that would be valuable to the majority of most aspiring tree climbers of any sort.
Excuse my previous explanation. I think I had one too many beers... =-D

Ok, first, good video. Much needed. “How to tie hitches” are a dime a dozen on YT but you know what? They don’t talk about hitch cord length and how much length knots use. Want know stnd hitch lengths? Na, not gonna cover that. Well WTF man. So as a backyard tree climber who loves to take tops, thanks man. Kudos. Now a bone to pick. Your video style is certainly improving. You’re getting more comfortable on camera and obviously giving prior thought to what your gonna talk about; however, a, make sure you’re keeping your screen size in mind throughout so you don’t start working off screen. B make sure you have the props you need right at hand,( ie carabiners) so you don’t have to step away to get one. Gonna go back and find the 2 hitch videos you referenced. I got a big bag o’ rope an.d cordage from Treestuff that I need to figure how to use. I’ll add that if someone ever makes a table of hitches/knots and how much rope they use I’d probably buy it.

Thank you for the insight. Somedays with filming can be better than others and sometimes its hard as one person to always keep on an eye on my frame size and, I've used pieces of tape in the past, but I found that things were constantly moving so much I never could actually trust them unless I just laid them down and hit record! I hope I didn't take away from the positive experience too much by taking things out of frame. Thanks for taking the time to give feedback.

I also like your idea about having an informative poster with knots data I could perhaps design and sell to earn money for my channel. I'm not exactly good at editing multimedia, otherwise my videos would have chapters and not be so amateurish.

@@Knot-orious Oh I think they’re fine. What you’re doing isn’t easy so don’t be 2 hard on yourself. So many of these popular creators now pay a cameraman and editor to make them look good. There’s a learning curve like anything else. Gawd, I’m a 60 yr old ex entertainment rigger with a bionic knee who decided to take up arborist work at 58 right after my knee replacement. The curve be steep!

@@justinjones9255 Thank you so much for all of your enthusiasm for my channel and for what I'm trying to accomplish! Having subscribers and viewers weigh in on what I'm doing makes everything so much better and more real! Wow, taking up arborist work at 58 after a knee replacement is a serious undertaking! I'm impressed by your fortitude! Mind over matter, I suppose! You're only as old as you feel and you only feel as old as you allow yourself to, I suppose!
