I avoid books with the movie on the cover as well.
Aren’t some of them just another edition?
Same, it just looks tacky to me
Yes! definitely depends on the movie but most of the time, I like more classic covers!
i dont buy the book if i dont like the font they used on the cover
@@eylul4831 lmao I’m dead-
I love that you left in the conversations while looking at books. A lot of people seem to cut their clips way down and make these videos mostly about afterwards when they show their haul, but I always want more of the actual book browsing content, and this gave me that!
@@julianshawn7476 that's a crime
@Ashton totally agree!! Book browsing content was almost like being there ourselves! ♥♥♥
ua-cam.com/video/xGzubJDTAYg/v-deo.html
Yay! I'm glad you liked it :) I personally like the shopping process too so I wanted to leave more in!
Yeah, definitely feels like I am there, and the experience ita more fun.
OMG THATS AN AMAZING GOODWILL
Yeah... ours don't look like that!!! Lol
I feel cheated by the goodwills in my city now. 😭
And then there is me: not having even one goodwill in my country😓
@@arewemulty feel your pain 😭 don't have one here
this goodwill is actually a bookstore lol. most goodwills sell a little of everything but this one literally said bookstore on the sign xD
I love love love used books, they cost a lot less than a brand new one and used books have character. Wether it be just wrinkled pages, a coffee spill on it or a bookmark left in it.
I LOVE old books!
Right they're are some cool finds and at a way cheaper pricee
The coffee gives it character 😊 I don’t have any in my city but tomorrow me,my mum, my dad and my friend are going to a town which haves LOTS so I’m super exited 😄
@@indiasrandomstuff8129 how was it?😄
same
"I don't love when they do it like the movie cover."
Thank you!
I can't get over selection of used books you can chose from!! We really don't have stores like this where I live but it's so nice to know they are out there somewhere :D
hopefully you're able to make some book trips when things start to open back up!
Hehe where i live we barely have book shops with actual books and not art supplies
That’s a good thrift store. The ones near me have super old books and they sell them for almost original price!
Wow! I mean it's great to recycle and reuse books but man!... full price?!
@@morganalisonstewart Well...super old books usually had list prices in cents, especially the paperbacks.
Watching this makes me realise how much I’ve missed being able to visit my local library and book cycle centres, can’t wait to spend hours browsing again, hope everyone stays safe during this difficult time 🙏🏼
I just went to my local library for the first time since quarantine last March and I was so happy!! You can’t sit down for too long but being around the books for a bit was amazing
Hope you're well!
Leaving bits of conversation about books is such a nice touch! It does add a lot to the spirit of wandering through bookstores and finding new reads or interesting books. I love it!
The Year of Magical thinking is not a light read. Its Dideons memoir documenting the year after her husband past away. Shes also dealing with her daughters hospitalization. Its pretty heavey. Short but definitely a multiple sitting read.
I read it a year ago wanting a light read and it was Not. I came to warn her tooooo
Yes! Definitely NOT a feel good book.
@@pickleonionful Honestly that made us laugh a little. But I'm sure they'll still love it.
Yes! I informed my sister about some of the comments about the book haha.
The year of magical thinking is definitely not a feel good book
Living vicariously through this waiting for second hand bookshops to reopen in the UK!
I run a charity second book and music shop in the UK, back to work from LOCKDOWN the second week in April. I am really looking forward to seeing the customers, volunteers and all the lovely donations.
ua-cam.com/video/xGzubJDTAYg/v-deo.html
Hope you're well and sending love!
@@avisforbes5563 Does that include charity shops?
@@GraemeBell9864 Yes it does as I have been at home for the third Lockdown since before Xmas 2020.
But I will soon be out of LOCKDOWN and reopening my charity books and music shop, to the public next week from 12/04/21.
Love it when its natural like this the talk and not just music
I'm a retired secondhand bookseller in Australia. Back in the 1980s I used to fly to the USA, get on the Greyhound, and travcel to thrifs & post back cartons of secondhand books for my store. This business model would definitely not work today - for several reasons - but it was great while it lasted!
“I’m always on the hunt for Stephen king” me subscribing right away😌
Always! haha.
devil in the white city was great! and 2.99 for a hardcover?! you go girl
I love the conversation left in!! Totally reminds me of bookshopping with my friends
YAY! happy to hear :)
Your goodwill has an awesome selection of books! Mine only has 2 tall shelves that’s barely filled.
Sameee but I go to other thrift stores and they have a tonnnn more books for like less than $3 each and 75% off
I’ve been buying used books for a few years now and it’s the best! They’re much cheaper and you can find real gems in there, besides it’s better for the environment.
It is truly amazing how much you can save by shopping in used book stores! Great finds! I hope you enjoy the classics.
love that you left the talking in i feel like i’m in the book store with my friend talking about books
I love the chatting you did while book shopping!! thank you for including that, it was so fun to hear all your thoughts as you shop :)
Brave new world is SUCH a great book. It's a little boring in the beginning but then it picks up!
I haven't heard of Kindred but now I'm invested in reading the story! ty!!
~ someone who doesn't typically enjoy sci-fi
Who wants to break it to her sister that Year Of Magical Thinking is not a feel good book. It's about grief and loss
Haha I told her after I read some of the comments!
Loved hearing your converstion with your sister while you guys were in the store. It was like I was with you in the store too. I have been waiting for your video and yeah finally came out :) I really really love your vidoes and need more of them 💝
Yay! I'm so glad you've started this channel and I love that you buy used books! Definitely love the casual conversation.
I absolutely loved this video. You truly have a unique reading taste. It's also cool to have a sister who recommends such awesome books
I only read ebooks now, font size, but before I did I used to shop at used book stores all the time and your video reminds me so much of all the hours I spent in them and the absolute thrill of the great finds. And I love listening to you and your sister discussing the books.
It’s so awesome that you can share your reading journey and excursions with your sister! I am glad that you can share with us too ☺️ love love love the content! It would be exciting to start a book club 😉💙
I loved this!! Felt like I was book shopping with you guys :) I've said this before, but I am living for this channel right now. You've inspired me to get back into reading and it's made me so much happier lately. Also, am I the only one that didn't know about Goodwill bookstores?? Okay....headed over to the other channel to watch the beauty haul now LOL
Morgan, just want to let you know how much I adore you as a youtuber creator and as a person. I always come back to your contents because I feel at ease like you are my sister. You emanate positivity!
Just a heads up: David Sedaris is one of those whose books are really great on audio. He reads all his own books and he’s really funny.
I am by no means a book consumer but that book GoodWill is such a steal, that is so awesome! I have heard of many of those books and I would never buy them normally, but if I found them in that store I would've left with 10 books lol
Yes Kindred! I finished that book a few days ago and Im still not over it!
LOVED that you left the convos❤️
I love phantom of the opera, so excited for you to read it!
I love how well taken care the books are at this store! My thrift stores they're just in piles all on top of each other in bins
Douglas’ books and Card’s are my fave 🖤 Restaurant is da best imo. For Ender I love all the books, even the spin off w Bean. I was so happy when I saw your friend pick them.
I’m genuinely impressed by this book selection
2 posts in one day! Go Morgan!!! Love both of your channels. Big fan!
If you like Kindred which I'm sure you will bc it's a spectacular novel but Octavia also wrote Parable of the Sower series that is just so good about a Dystopian California in the 2020s. Also would recommend Binti by Nnedi Okorafor- another great African American sci-fi author. Love them both!
we need this once a week! Love this so much! Greeting from Germany, you are such a lovely human!
I love this kind of vlog! It feels very nice and casual ☺️ Looking forward for more!!
I miss book hunting so much!! Thank you for this video, it feels like I’m there. 😊❤️📚
Dean Koontz has some amazing books. "Watchers" is my favorite book I've ever read, but phantoms, lightning, and the bad place are very good as well.
I was so excited to see your sister pick up Ender's Game and to hear you want to read it too! It's been one of my favorite books for over 20 years now and I recommend it to everyone I know. One of my prized possessions is a copy of Analog magazine with the original short story version published in 1977 that I found at a flea market and got signed by the author.
Also, I'm a huge fan of the Cthulhu mythos, so I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on that collection! The mythos (that's what the overall universe and body of work by Lovecraft and others is called) has inspired and influenced much of the horror genre, including Stephen King's own works. A little warning, though, that Lovecraft was horribly racist even for his time, but this is something that's widely acknowledged and not swept under the rug by fans of the mythos.
Yes! Excited to read both! And thank you for your insight on the Cthulhu mythos!
I probably read Ender's game 8x or more and owned the book at 4 different times. It;s probably myfavorite book. Another book, Ender's Shadow, from the point of view of Bean is also very good.
The sequels to Ender's games about the adventures of Ender (Speaker of the Dead, Xenocide, etc.) are just okay to me although lots of people love it, or maybe loved them more than the first book.
So glad you picked up brave new world! :) its a must read
omg i love your book thrifting vlogs... please keep it coming
"I know it's about a Phantom ... In an opera"
Nailed it ❤️ 😄
I actually loved the commentary I havent really seen anyone else do that. It kept me interested as if I was shopping along too:))
Never seen a Goodwill with so many books! Can anyone say jealous!
Love the shopping chat!
I love thrift book shopping❤ And your Goodwill was amazing!
OH MY GOD I ALMOST SCREAMED IN FRONT OF MY WHOLE CLASS WHEN YOU PULLED “THE DEVIL IN THE WHITE CITY” that’s the one i’m reading now and i literally have it next to me omg omg omg
The year of magical thinking is one of my favorites of all time!!!
Amazing haul! The Phantom of the Opera is my favorite book of all time. It's great that you don't know much about the musical or any of the movies beforehand because it's a bit different than any of its interpretations.
ohhhh...i also want Phantom of the Opera for ages...first i read them when i was in high school like 20+ years ago and our librarian auntie give the privilege to me to read it first before other kids borrow them and may not return them back....i am soo will be trying to look for phantom of the opera.......love your shopping spree and the 'live' comments on those books heheheh
I loved kindred!!! I'm planning on reading her other book, parable of the sower this month.
Ender’s game is cute. I like the one from Bean’s perspective too. Siddartha!! I hope you like it. I’m inspired to do some shopping now. Books are so expensive new. I just do ebooks from my library.
Siddhartha is amazing! Thanks for the Kindred suggestion-on my list now.
Omg that Goodwill!!!! 😍
What an amazing goodwill! So many great books.
oh my god, i wish sweden had second hand bookstores like that as well! 1.99 usd for those books is such a catch, im jealous!
loved this kind of video 💕
omg enders game is one of my all time favs
thrifting for books is so underrated! there were 2 books on my reading list (divergent and the fault in our stats) and i found both of them :))
I love the fault in our stars!! I need to replace my old one cause it got tore up
@@rubeuspotter719 little update, I ended up reading it about a month ago and loved it! the movie made me cry but it was rlly good and a cute romance story
I love that I feels like I’m shopping with you
Yay! I'm glad :)
Love this video!
Glad found this channel
Your book shop is so good! Saw so many titles I wanted to grab. Also, we have similar tastes in reading material. You picked up some great stuff--Devil in the White City was one of my favorite reads of 2021
That Brave New World cover is so cool!
Looks like so much fun! ☺️
H.P. Lovecraft collection book, ur so lucky! It one of the hardest one's to find. I enjoy this. Thank u, 😊!
Enjoyed shopping with you. Good Wills are great - nice paying toward a charity that helps with employment. FYI, some people don't know that Amazon has good deals on used books in their market place. When you look up a new book, e.g., Moby Dick, near the price you'll see hyperlink to market place (used books) and find list of used books stores and sometimes GW is there! It's nice how you can pay more for "like new" condition or less for "good" or "acceptable."
I loove these videos!! As a bonus I get to live vicariously through you, since here we haven’t been allowed inside stores for almost 3 months :’(
Also: yes to casual conversations and car intros!!
Pillars of the earth by Ken Follet. Is my all time favorite book. It’s amazing.
I want to go here so bad 😫
Amazing that you have these in the us
That's wonderful Goodwill! Such an eye candy! 👁
I saw that you picket up "the girl who played with fire" and i really really recommend it! I´m a swede, so i read it in swedish (the original language). It truly is an amazing trilogy starting with "the girl and the dragon tattoo". I also recommend the movies, formost the original ones in Swedish but also the remakes in english are good!
I saw a dean Koontz book. Some of my favorite.
I also have this same Bantam Books publication's copy of 'Siddhartha', bought from a Thrift Shop. ♥
Erik Larson is such a great author! I try to read everything he wrote! :)
I’m gonna have to check out my local Goodwill 😊 I love my local used bookstore they take newer books for store credit so I end up leaving with books I’ve paid for with store credit
I miss browsing books in bookshops or ‘thrift shops’ (charity shops in England). We are still in lockdown here and everything is closed. You could buy second hand books online I guess, but it’s just not the same. Happy reading!
I like book shopping videos and book hauls. Keep it up 👍
The devil in the white city is the best book ive read this year so far. I can't recommend it highly enough.
One of my all time favs. History AND creppy stuff? Yes please!
Really relaxing video :) I really recommend The Martain!
LOVE the Phantom! Saw the play, have the soundtrack and own the movie! 💞
I can't wait to read it!
Hi from the uk !! Omg u r awesome!!! Loves this video!!! I am a proud bookworm! Subbed of course xxx
I would go broke in that store. I love it! 💕
I wish we had these stores in the UK.
same
I think that was the first edition cover of "Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy." I remember Leonard talking about how much he wanted a first edition copy on The Big Bang Theory, and I managed to find that same copy at Mckay's.
New subscriber! Loved this video! Can’t wait to see more! 💕🥰😊😊
Great vlog..I love seeing japanese products in the US.
instead of goo gone you can use nail polish remover and a cotton ball! worked great for the ones from target so maybe it’ll work for some of yours
What an awesome Goodwill. I have to go to like, three separate ones to actually find something since their selection is so small
That used bookstore with all the mangas looks like heaven. It's hard for me to find a large section of used mangas in my area
I really really enjoyed watching this video and i hope that you enjoy your reading please stay safe love from your fan John in Australia
There's a Dim Sum restaurant in the shopping area thats really good a little expensive but good.
