@@119beaker Maybe Nixon did foresee the collapse of the USSR. Nixon being an intelligent man, knew when to keep quiet about things. During his presidency, he was negotiating SALT with the USSR. It would have been unwise to walk around beating his chest and saying the USSR will soon collapse. That's something Biden or Obama would do.
It is interesting that Israeli Prime Minister Ben-Gurion gave an interview to LOOK magazine in 1963 and in that interview he said the USSR would cease to exist in 25 years. It dissolved 28 years later in 1991.

@@119beaker he didn’t “predict” anything. He just went to school. Know what school teaches you? That China has always been the strongest economy on this planet solely based on it’s population. Sometimes an innovative technology will come along and disrupt the natural order of things, as seen during the Industrial Revolution, casting any economy who doesn’t enjoy this new innovation into an inferior position to the economy/economies that do.
But then they eventually catch up. This is what Nixon is talking about. He isn’t some sage or prophet: he’s literally explaining basic facts your average American still does not know for some reason.

Nixon was the president who travelled to China to meet with Mao. He did this to capitalise on the Sino-Soviet estrangement and to distance China even further from the USA's main enemy at the time, the Soviet Union. China was economically and morally devastated by Mao's Cultural Revolution. Mao was therefore prepared to receive Nixon as he had economic aid and the assurance that the USA would give up its veto in the UN in connection with the transfer of Taiwan's role as China's representative to Red China.
Economic aid turned into investment in joint ventures and later direct investment by US investors, followed by investors from other Western countries.
In this respect, there is a certain irony in Nixon's words when he speaks of waking the sleeping giant that Napoleon warned about. Because he stands for the political and geostrategic agenda of the US administration of the time, which woke up the sleeping giant that was lying on the ground with the decisions made at the time. The decision for the current status of Taiwan and all the resulting problems were also made at that time.

It is interesting that Nixon was labeled a crook for expediency, in order to diminish him. But now, what do we call a man like Trump? They have totally watered down strong language which has made us not take it seriously. It is important to be precise with language.

Trump has disappointed me way too many times, and has lost my respect for him. My mom stopped talking about him after the riots and after covid, because so many of his young followers died from that disease. She didn't want to vote because of how divided everyone was. Even in my family: I would defend Trump, and my sister would get mad at me. After the sht he's pulled this year, I'm no longer supporting Trump. He's lost his goddam marbles, and he's becoming a bit of a whiner and sore loser. Ukrainian inferiority complex was an Achilles' heel of Russia since the time nations started to form in late 19th century. Lenin found a way to deal with nationalists and introduced indigenization to calm them. But after WW2 the West enlisted Ukrainian neonazis to fight Russia whilst Ukrainians as a political nation proved to be unable to come up with a state. Persistent Ukrainian corruption is a mark of the Ukrainian disbelief in the possibility of Ukrainian state. That is why they are so instrumental as a weapon against Russia.

It's been hypothesised by military experts that within the next 7/10 years if China can cobble together a proper navy/airforce/army and working equipment (not the load of whale shit they have now) then they will make an attempt to force Russias hand which will leave the West with a question - "Who do we back if ANYONE AT ALL" - WATCH THIS SPACE!!.
