Been 4 years since this was posted. The pandemic brought a huge shift in Metro Manila-change in people's mindset from car- to pedestrian-focused, more people using bike as transport, and the MMDA even released a sort of manifesto / plan at the end of 2021 that's just sweet, sweet music for pedestrian-centred urban planning. I believe we just have to endure longer, advocate stronger, challenge braver, and believe more in a transformed Metro Manila-and it will indeed come to fruition. 🙏
Teary-eyed seeing this. This should be what EDSA should look like. This video made me believe that EDSA isn't a lost cause and that we can only hope that something like this can be implemented soon starting with BRTs.
Remove the corrupt officials and this could happen sooner than anyone could expect. Someone work on making this a reality please. Edsa needs this change not only for the people but for the environment as well.

This concept must be presented to DPWH,DOTR,MMDA,DENR. The concept shows EDSA is badly needing greenery. It can be done in less than a year if implemented.

Iba kasi kapag BRT, exclusive talaga ang para sa bus at parang metro train ang operation. Eh imposible sa EDSA ang complete exclusivity kasi may mga left turn para sa overpass kagaya sa Ortigas.

Another is the soon to rise bus concourses which design and locations are strategically well planned. Therefore, carousel will become an exclusive BRT system.

Wow!!! is this a dream. That's what Edsa needs more greens and less pollution. Too much concrete hope it will come into fruition. It's a long overdue development. That will be awesome! It's very beautiful! Kudos to the makers of this presentation. It looks very effective with dedicated bus lanes, pedestrians, bike lanes and greens. This is how it should look like. It's sad to think how the Philippines is mismanaged and a victim of huge corruption. Malapit na po tayong maungusan ng Bangladesh and Vietnam when it comes to GDP nominal, which is the measurement of a country's economy. They're growing really really fast and that's not a bad thing. What I mean is, we should have a developed economy by now.

One thing I notice that's common in the US but not in the Philippines are lane bumps. The lanes in the Philippines are merely painted, doesn't make a sound if you go over the lanes. This will keep the drivers from changing lanes willy nilly. Well, at least most of the time.
Lol that's not what lane bumps or cat eyes are for. They are reflector so you can see at night. They help you know if you are driving in your lane and also make a bit of noise to wake up fatigued drivers. The reason that people done change lanes willy nilly is right of way or give way laws. Also people will crash into you. In Manila you drive defensive fully expecting people to pull out in front of you at a moment's notice. Normally to get around the Jeep that stops every 50m. In countries with legit road rules you can relax a little more and if you drove like that you'd guaranteed crash, because people aren't looking out for it. They expect people to behave a certain way.
If you want this to happen. Restart everyone in taking licenses without corruption. Require everyone to pass 90% of the drivers license exam on paper and actual. Dont allow cars older than 8years to pass edsa and improve the public transportation in Metro Manila
Well, they got the idea of the bus lane being in the innermost lane of EDSA correct... Would be better if instead of having several underpass, it should be one straight underpass with entry and exits before major intersections located on one of the middle lanes.

MMDA must have botanist, plant experts for the greening of EDSA and other streets. What kind of trees will be planted? Will they need more water or less? Are they permanent like woody stems like bogainvillas or will be replaced again after 3 months like birds of paradise? Will they produced blooms and seeds that birds and pollinators will feed on them? Will the roots destroy the existing structures? Would we like to see canopy that will protect the motorist from the heat of the sun? Is pruning will be a part of the maintenance before the typhoon season to minimize uprooting of the trees or creating damages to street structures? Should MMDA must have PLANT PROPAGATION NURSERIES to decrease the budget for purchasing seedlings and plants? How about creating more open grass/green areas ( removing too much concrete or paved plazas?) Just a thought. Its about time we get smarter.

And even if there would be separated lanes incorporated for the different transportation, the concrete road cement won't be as good/renewed/shiny because ang focus lang ay mga trees, lanes, etc. (but good naman). I really hope that we attain a greener and sustainable roads for our cities. Ang maidudulot ng trees ay shade na rin sa matinding init ng araw, bukod sa lessening ng pollution and appealing view.
