Robinswords tried it, it works better if you have a shield sling to throw it behind you to free up the other hand. I forget his conclusions but iirc they were that it was better to use either halberd or shield, both is just too unwieldy even if you’re just jabbing with the butt.

@@demi8344 No. You don't need It. 1-3 layers of wool or linen unquilted is enough for maille and plate. Not a full gambeson, and if you want that padding, have It over.
Try Deepeeka, it made in India and quite good for the affordable price. They only have to spend just a little more the to the finish and most of their product could even do for serious reenactment. I have a semi-reenactment outfit based on the early 80 years war. The weapons and helmet are from Deepeeka. I have also Epic Armory stuff, but Deepeeka is sure not the lesser brand, sometimes even better, but way more affordable. But keep in mind if you want to jump in larp, you cant use replica weapons, you need special larp weapons because of safety reasons.
Epic Armoury weapons are expensive and maintenance-intensive. They're latex-coated, an outdated technology that has very little durability and will decompose over time. Foam-injection LARP weapons are usually twice more durable for the same price.
Steel armour is usually, I know a lot of stuff is overprotective for incidental contact, like mordhau isn't allowed, probably anywhere,, but you still don't wanna give somebody a bloody nose if you get in it and accidentally hit then with not the blade
Hi, nice video. But...I have two questions/objections. - I don't see any gambeson or padding under chainmail. Worn this way, mail can by kinda useless and painful and you clearly have a gambeson around, so this seems a bit misleading to newbies. - Maybe I'm wrong but those armguards at 2:27 do not seem historical. Dont get me wrong, they are not ugly or uselles for larp! But there is no point in claiming historical accuracy.
Not wearing a gambeson or quilted armor under maille is fully accurate, and actually better than wearing some stuffy gambeson Specially if you actually have to mave around
It hurts my head to watch you use a halberd with a shield
Seeker Finder 😂😂😂
You noticed that too 😆😆😆
Its something that pops up in Art from time to time.
It's my favorite combo in dark souls tho, great range, good damage, great protection.

The way he steps out of the camera at 0:39 got a chuckle out of me
Oh, the rat race! Adventure is something you gear up for. 😁

you really should have padded armor under any armor.
No, you really shouldn't
@@bloodypine22 yes, you should. Prevents pinching and adds protection from blunt blows.

But, hey. It's your heatstroke and exhaustion. Not mine
*could
It's larp, no one's supposed to care about accuracy
I wish you guys made more videos. You make good stuff
My only gripe is that the guy wearing the gambison was using a halberd in combination with a sheild
I’d really like to get some actual weapons but the stuff from epic armory is soooo expensive, even if it’s high quality

underappreciated video. :P
These guys are amazing
Are real steel armours allowed? (16/18 gauge steel in particular)
What about real bucklers? Hits with shields are prohibited anyways.
ッAllu varies from game to game, most to my knowledge, allow steel armor.

Real bucklers sounds like a bad idea in a LARP, where foam weapons can really get seriously damaged if you strike them against metal bucklers
Wow, I subscribed yesterday and today is a video on!
Cool, we hope you enjoy them all :)
Epic Armoury yep, totally!
Alright, but I'm more interested in those gallic-looking trident-painted shields in the background.
A halberd with a shield? Hmm
Good vid good vid❤️

It base on historic armory. They found such in viking graves.
Against blunt weapons, only a chainmail would be like having a t-shirt.
@@jpsholland Those splint pieces are a poor imitation of Vendel cavalryman limb protection, not viking.

So is dark knight armory a distributor of Epic Armory products?
(A sort of follow up to the other persons comment)
Wow guys this was amazing, where can I get help to buy my armor?
epicarmoury.com
How do I join my group that I was in disbanded chain mail :(
Why? I mean out of all possible types besides padded it was the most used one over the last couple thousand years.
@@MrGeorocks Indeed, there his historical evidence that chain mail is used from 2500 bc to the Napoleon era.
@@jpsholland Even made it to ww1
wait, so you use foam and plastic weapons... so you don't need metal...
Monkey it’s part of the roleplay aspect. Better armor provides more armor points
Also it looks cooler and that's half the fun
0:40 that's an arming doublet, not a gambeson.
Works in a similar way tho
Why do these guys look like skyrim npcs lol
So weird seeing Americans dressed like this LOL
can i have my 4 minutes back >
