I've always loved their variety in sound and use of every instrument as a separate harmony or sound. So many others bands just layer octaves and 5ths on each other until a solo and then go back to the same stuff for all the others.

For this sound I used the Metal VH4 preset found on ToneCloud of BIAS Desktop :)
