I've heard horror stories with these shipers and receivers. That's why I do flatbed. If they're open and they're not unloading/loading someone else they typically will get to you asap.
You will have the most issues with frozen loads set at -10/-15°....some trailers won't keep up. You will need to monitor the unit every couple hours or so to make sure it's still working! I've had a unit turn off itself after fueling because of air in the fuel system! Open the unit doors and use the primer.....use start/restart button as necessary.....pump the hell out of it until it starts and stays running....it might take several attempts, but don't wait too long to call for service....frozen will lose about -1° internal product temp per hour!
@@CashisKingtrucking , I was just throwing that out there for anyone who's never done reefer. I've even had to use a screwdriver on the starter solenoid to start them before.....like an old Ford....lol.
I work in a reefer warehouse I learned a lot in this video I have also loaded reefer trailers I’ve loaded jellos/ pudding lunchables all types of cheese and pickles also have unloaded I’ve noticed when I’m off loading pallets are bent or spilled and really sucks having to pick it all up
Reefer equals waiting at every stop. Dry van means 4 out 5 stops are about an hour. More time driving is more money. Not to mention you often have rejected food that you have to deal with.
When you dock at the receiver do you allow the reefer to run or shut it off? I get tired of being docked for up to 6 hours with a frozen load set at -10 & the reefer ending up in defrost mode constantly trying to keep at temp with doors open wasting my fuel. I always override the "door open" sensor that automatically shuts the unit down while docked at the shipper or receiver. The receiver documents temp readings upon arrival of a delivery to make sure temp on reefer matches temp on the bills. But sitting in a door for hours waiting to unload or load with doors open & reefer running wide open struggling to keep at temp makes no sense to me. It's a HUGE waste of fuel that they are not paying for & the product is not staying at temp during the process anyways. I let mine run because I don't want to give them any reason to reject my load. I arrive on time & at propper temperature documented by security at the gate. But sit for hours with doors open in a dock door waiting & wasting fuel?
Can you due a quick video on how you fuel a refer. Do you have to re-enter your information and repay when your done fueling your truck and getting def
Stay away from fresh seafood loads from fisheries … your next load will be rejected! Even with a trailer washout!!! The stench is horrendous and will take a couple of days to air out . I speak from experience… Fair warning
Reefers suck. You end up waiting all the time everywhere you go and end up having to make deliveries in the dead of night. Never have I ever been so fatigued than when I was pulling reefer freight!!!
Hey there Brother Cash!! Not sure how I missed this one. Question, for example in your case as an O/O, what if the Reefer Unit breaks down, does Loves and those places do repairs on those as well? And to protect the load (ice cream for example), then what as time would be of the essence? Thanks buddy.
Yeah if your reefer has problems you need to take it to a reefer repair typically carrier or Thermo King there's a few mechanic shops that work on them. Yes time is of the essence.
@@CashisKingtrucking Ok thank you, I've been wondering about that. Especially if a load was to get ruined because it couldn't get fixed in time. Let's hope that don't happen. Thanks again Cash.
Good video. Been doing dry van for 6 years thought I would try something new I start this week with reefer subscribed are you still monitoring this channel if I have questions Thanks man?
I randomly pulp a few pallets and I like to use the digital thermometer as much as possible. It depends if I shut down the reefer or not. If they don't take forever I'll leave it running. If they ain't even started loading it after a couple hours I'll shut it off.
hello Brother where can i find me a produce temperature chart i go to google i find everything but what i am looking for it sends me to Amazon when i go to Amazon i don’t find a Produce temperature chart. even if you could send me a link showing me everything i will print it off & get it eliminated.

hi brother. i am new in the game. could you tell me about your experience with the box truck refree? is better than dry box or not? what about the expense, load and waiting time? thank you so much.

Yes but it’s also about 3k deferents a month between dry and reefer and that’s about 36k a year I have done both in my 20 years of driving I prefer reefer better because of the money I had Termoking this units last for about 35k to 40k hours I sold my trailer with 35k hours on it in 12 years of owning my trailer never had major issues with the unite you just have to maintain regularly just as if your doing oil change on your car same are this trailers not a big deal !!!

I heard you should cut it off if the gas is at or below 1/4 before you fuel it... that should prevent the problem
Or you can get the Thermo King with the electric Primer/Lift pump

Interesting Video. Whats the temperature limits on the reefer?
-20 to 70. Trailers lose insulating value as they get older so -20 on an older reefer trailer is tough
