I had a look back to what type of pantry set up you have and it's one of the adjustable shelf ones so you have a few options. 1. If you generally only use smaller items then you might consider getting/making a couple more shelves and either add them in so you have more shelves and can keep pantry items closer to the front, or double up on each shelf. The melamine finish is fairly slick on itself and will make sliding it out pretty easy - just remember to add a small handle at the top front of each sliding shelf so that there is somewhere easy to grip. 2. Rectangular woven baskets tend to be larger and might be easier to find for the specific purpose you mentioned - being able to pull out a tray. 3. To keep the shelves and have the best fit, you can make the trays/drawers. 4. You can remove the shelves and retrofit the pantry with drawers and soft-close runners. Last two are a bit more work but can be aesthetically, much more pleasing.
For the pantry, I went to Big W and got the bamboo spice rack and stacking basket from the LT Williams range, both are great and they had other stuff! I use the spice rack for tea as well as spices, it’s really useful to have things at different heights so you can see them more easily
Hi Janice!!! You completely knocked that garlic shrimp and pasta dish OUT OF THE PARK!!! Well done!!! We have this dish at least once a month here at home... and I love to throw some lemon juice (just a tablespoon or so) or some nice dry white wine (i.e. Chardonnay). I loved that you also added butter to your sauce... butter makes everything BETTER, and more luxurious! Great video Janice! You have come a long way in your cooking skills, your confidence and your experimentation. I think that is really great. Also, another suggestion... towards the end it looked like your pasta was a bit dry in the pan. Reserve (always reserve) some of the pasta cooking water to add to your final coming together of the pasta and "stuff" and I mean that as only a suggestion. I like my finished pasta dishes to be a bit more moist. It works! Hugs, Penny Sue
Hey Janice, we had the same issues with our pantry. There are some slide drawer things at Howards Storage, but they’re a bit pricey. Another good tip is we found some longer storage containers/trays at Bunnings Gladesville that also did the trick!
Hi Janice! Loved your video. We can’t wait to check out that HK cafe in Rhodes Central. We tend to take a photo of the nearest pole(?) in the carpark that indicates the section, and the shop closest to the carpark entry from the shopping centre. Your pasta looks amazing btw. We both want to eat pasta and the HK fish soup noodle right now!!!!!
Lazy Susan turn tables work fantastic for pantry spaces , so of you want something from the back of the pantry space just spin your lazy Susan around, works great on fridge shelves as well
We love going to Rhodes Central too~~ Not as busy as other shopping centers. I love the grilled sweet potatoes in that Yangga Foods store. Haven't tried HK street food yet. Remember seeing them prepare for the opening day the day before. Have to go soon~~~
Hello hello hello Janice, enjoy your video a lot! I have similar problems with my pantry, what I do is I put the tall items at the back and short ones at the front, that way I can see what I have at the back, also I have space at the front to put arm in to reach for the back. Hope it helps (:
Love food heaps so really enjoy your videos! :) Re pantry, I recently got some Boxsweden storage boxes from Bunnings to organised my fridge. I like how they’re deep enough (36 cm), have different width options, have a handle and are crystal clear transparent so you can see the contents :)
got some koko black for christmas, australian spirits collection. when with family they usually "let" me do all the cooking, but id let you cook for me.
Kmart has long drawers for the cupboard, also try the baked cheese seafood rice from the seafood store Costis in Rhodes Central, it's a Hong Kong style seafood fried rice, then baked with cheese.
Ok, so for you pantry, you may be able to fit drawers inside, i.e. drawers inside a cupboard. The only issues is the narrowest that IKEA goes is 40cm, or an internal dimension of 364mm. If that works for you, have a look at MAXIMERA drawers and the UTRUSTA drawer fronts.
i have a suggestion for the arrangement. Maybe you could draw out the layout interior of the cupboard and indicate where the items are. But for me what i usually do is, i will fill the back of the spaces that i can not reach with stuffs that i dont usually use. Hope it helps..
Trying adding a splash of white wine, a bit of olive oil and pasta water … stir to emulsify it and with that butter and parsley will create an even more aromatic prawn based pasta sauce
theres a woolies in rhodes now? last time i was there it was only coles. though i only ever went to the gyg. used to work otherside of the train line in the business park near concord road, these days only view it from wentworth point.
Amazing an IKEA as part of a shopping centre. I'm so lucky the IKEA where I live is just ten minutes walk from my house. Just bought a major purchase last week of new wardrobes. Had a big clear out of old clothes and wanted to start afresh.
Deep kitchen shelves are a pain. And IKEA have terrible shelf organisers that don’t quite fit the deep shelves and waste a lot of space. Daiso have some long, narrow plastic shelf organisers, I use them in our very deep fridge for all the condiments. Another alternative is to buy those narrow oval Tupperware knock off containers from K-mart for your dry goods, which you can store 2 rows ideep . Because they’re narrow you can fit a few side by side. They stack easily, and cause they’re easy to handle it’s not too annoying to access the containers in the back of the cupboard. Or get some of the larger Decor containers for the back of the cupboard & fill them with multiple packets. Eg. I have separate boxes for Indian spices, or baking ingredients, or packets with various dried fruit. They’re things which I use less often, so then I just pull out the large box from the back of the cupboard. My best tip: measure all the shelves you need to fill and keep the measurements on your phone (I take a photo of the cupboard and mark the dimensions on that. So when you’re shopping, you can make a more informed decision about what might fit.
There’s a new HK restaurant on Adderton Rd Telopea... take away only! But their radish cake is fantastic! Large block for you to take and slice and cook yourself! Recently opened! And there’s a new Sushi place in an unassuming area... Oatlands NSW. Its called Tamaro Sushi... only opened two wks ago... but TOP quality produce. Their Unagi Don Buri is the 💣!
You should try Chinel Chicken at Rhodes in your upcoming vlog as it should be great vlogging material. They were really controversial with their branding, and they just opened a few weeks ago. Its next door to the Asian supermarket across from Rhodes Central. Also, are you heading to Senpai Ramen which is a new Omakase Ramen joint in Chatswood Chase which is opening next month?
Every few months Aldi have a selection of fridge organisers which may be helpful with your cupboard issues. I can't say I was excited by the street food place, too much intestine and skin for a whitey like me but the garlic prawns looked pretty good.
I have the same thoughts when I'm at IKEA! Why can't my place look like a showroom, I have thought of just copying an entire room but the measurements don't work. Also your pasta looks really good
Yeah I know right, I’m in the middle of replanning the lay out of my study but can’t seem to figure out where to put everything in a way that looks nice lol Also thank you! Its really tasty and I make it a lot haha
That restaurant is aesthetic. Also, Ikea can be a nice place to go...but not a place to take an impatient parent, or grandparent. The fact that they make you circle the store to go to the exit is well, not the best idea.
Janice, I am disappointed to see T2 tea in your pantry! Would you recommend good/better brands of Chinese tea (HongKong brand, made in China) available from websites in HongKong? Could/would we order the Chinese tea (HongKong brand, made in China) from the websites and have the Chinese tea delivered from HongKong to Sydney or are the Chinese tea already available at local Asian grocery stores in Sydney? Have you got any recommendations of value-for-money Chinese tea (HongKong brand, made in China) from HongKong?

Nice to see you fixing food for yourself. As sometimes want easy food to fix for myself to eat. Cooking for yourself is really hard to do

Thank you so much Penny Sue!!
Try Kmart for storage. Either a Lazy Susan or the Wide & Low Roller Storage Compartment. Both great for deep pantry shelves.
Will do , thanks Stephanie!

If you add some of the pasta water say 1/4 of a cup with the pasta into the pan, it’ll give some creaminess to the dish. 🙌🏽
Back to watching weekly!💙 hope you doing amazing Janice 💙
Ahhh seeing a Janice video makes me happy! ☺️☺️
Thanks Anna ☺️
For your cupboard organisation Janice head to Howard's Storage World.
Cheers Vincent !
Expensive but really good

There is nothing wrong with your pantry, it's actually pretty neat! If I dig a little bit I sometime find things that I haven't see in years in mine!

Kmart has long clear drawers for pantry organisation, in various different combinations and they all stack nicely too
This is what I use in my pantry.
I didn’t know Rhodes had a new shopping centre until last week, it’s one of my favourite Sydney suburbs so I’m keen to go check it out soon.
hello hello hello! Has anyone tired the ikea wok before? what are your thoughts?
Ok
Nope, but their rice cooker is actually not bad hahaha
👌🏻👌🏻
Oooo ok noted

Have you considered for the back cupboard to have a 2 tier shelf so you can take things from the top easier?
Love your videos always - I’m a “way sic meow” !! Look forward to trying the HK place out at Rhodes Central 😋

Hi Janice. Great videos! Have you done any reviews on Campsie? There's a lot of great restaurants there.
Hong Kong Tea Cafe is only something I've discovered in recent years.
Thankfully I have a great on in my area (Kowloon Cafe in Morley)
So what kind of tea is milk tea made from have sweeten conds.milk canned here now plus i have tea too
Trying adding a splash of white wine, a bit of olive oil and pasta water … stir to emulsify it and with that butter and parsley will create an even more aromatic prawn based pasta sauce

The coincidences! Ate at HK Street Food 2 days ago and it was JAM packed and queues still at 3pm.
What time did you start queueing??
@@JaniceFung Got there around 1:50PM (late lunch) and waited almost half an hour but I guess that's to be expected on a weekend.
Daiso has some good trays for organising your pantry and fridge too Janice
KMart has long draws that are great for deeper cupboards!
Thanks Bronny! A few other people have suggested the same thing, so.. Kmart trip for me soon!

Seems like no one has mentioned Muji yet? Their storage solution is durable and good looking. I always admire the neat Japanese style of storage!
Ahh yes! I’ll be making a trip to muji soon.. gotta replenish my pens and note books!
Try Howards storage world for pantry organization they have some things Ikea doesn't have. Ikea wok works well I have had one for 12 years
Thanks for the suggestion Daniel, I’ll check it out!
Wow Woolworths and Kmart ? It's like going back in time, those stores closed down decades ago where I live, especially Woolworths XD
I live in US so those are long gone here. Never seen a IKEA is nice to see different shops though

OMG, I’m not the only one! Don’t take note of where I park, and then have a mini panic attack. And it’s always in the parking garages.
Hey did you move out on your own? Would love a house tour
I would suggest Kmart for Pantry organization. You'll be surprised... There's deep transparent drawer for Pantry as well. And it's cheap
Nice vid Janice, I’ll need to check out Rhodes Central , looks like better food options than Rhodes Waterside where i usually go when in Rhodes 😂👍
Let me know if there are any other places you rate! I’ve only been to the Hong Kong street food one
@@JaniceFung just had 4 Treasures Cart Noodles not bad ,

Hey have you checked out Reynard Lowell’s channel? He is also based in sydney and he has loads of ideas how to organise spaces hope it helps!
I haven’t but I will do now, thanks Connor!
we went there to buy matcha croissant
Rhodes central?
Yes, top impression bakery on ground floor
Next time add a splash of pasta water so the fat from olive oil and butter and pasta water can emulsify and create a sauce.

good video
Spreadable butter isn't 100% butter!
urrrrrrrrrr soooooooooooooooo cuteeeeeeeeeee
Damn Rhodes shopping centre literally has a major face lift.
Hi Janice, Kmart has a $7 lazy Susan which is great in my fridge and would probably work well in your pantry.
