      It just seemed like a bit much! You could launch from Sand Harbor, Cave Rock, or a number of different places and have a way better shoreline to enjoy and only pay $10. Using a plane for that in Tahoe is like driving a tank to the local convenience store. It's just not necessary!

    Amani great to see you back in tahoe more often now that the weather permits. I have been hitting shaver lake a couple times with my inflatable with trolling motor this last week and the bite is incredible trolling with rapalas and thomas buoyant spoons. I caught and released over 10 trophy bows over 4 lbs. Caught and kept 5 browns and released over 10. Its like a switch went on after all the crazy snow and weather let up and the bite is on like never before. I even hit huntington 2 weeks ago but the whole lake was frozen over except the river inlet. Hope to see you soon in fresno county.

    It is a lot of fun for me to watch your adventures. Breadcrumbs? When I was 9 years old my dad spent one summer working on the road going into Hume Lake east of Fresno close to Sequoia National Park. My father always worked until the job was done so many times he was out until 8 or 9 finishing up putting a cat back together. Anyway, my older brother drove up from LA and he was hungry when he arrived and wanted to fry up some of the trout, we had in the ice box. There was no flour or corn meal, so I told him we had corn flakes cereal & to crush some to use instead...about ten years later they started selling crushed corn flakes for breading fish or meat...but it was my idea first! haha

    • @wildernesswithamani1027
      @wildernesswithamani1027  8 місяців тому +1

      I would have never thought of corn flakes but it makes sense that it would work. I think I need to figure out some flour, breadcrumbs or blackening spice for the next Mackinaw I can't release. Still, rainbows are my go to. It says a lot when you don't need a ton preparation to make fish taste good.

      Fishing below the boat camp there when it's closed is awesome. You might have a couple of hikers go by on the Rubicon Trail but they are few and far between if they show up at all. Usually have the whole place to yourself if you are willing to hike in and out with that 1000 foot elevation gain.

      When I fish Tahoe, I like to just sit and wait. I do enough battling my way around alpine lakes all summer and Fall. The two Emerald bay clips where I get mackinaw on jigs using my ultralight were two times my original plane to fish got cut off by snow and no fish in the river that flows into the bay! Once I do the grueling hike in, I'm looking to relax!

      Right on. I fish all over the Lake in videos on my Lake Tahoe shore fishing playlist and it is my understanding that either state license is good on the lake but I always advise viewers to check regulations for themselves form official sources. I believe in the Nevada guide it's under western region special regulations and it's in the license section of the California guide. Bot are available online. I believe you need a second rod designation to use two rods in California. Unfortunately, all of the backcountry fishing and hiking info I have on my backcountry playlists probably won't be useful until the beginning of Summer. All of my info on tackle I use and how I rig up for bait fishing the lake can be found on my fishing tips playlist.

    Is it possible to launch a kayak and paddle into Meeks, Rubicon and Emerald. Is there too much hardpack snow to access the docks and launches to these areas. Im hoping to kayak fish tomorrow April 11.

    • @wildernesswithamani1027
      @wildernesswithamani1027  8 місяців тому

      Depending on how you can transport the thing I would guess the nearby beaches would be a safe bet. I am not familiar with the usual launching points because I have never been on a kayak and I have never launched my boat in Tahoe. If you got wheels on the thing you could wheel it down there from the entrance of the boat camp where I went in but there is a lot of snow at the top. I think what I am trying to say is "I don't know"!. If you can get in there the fishing should be good.

    • @wildernesswithamani1027
      @wildernesswithamani1027  8 місяців тому +1

      Not a dumb idea if you got into some bass! I only fished there for three hours or so and got those 2 in the net. I had another hit that was very similar to the way those hit so I figure it was another one. If you haven't fished down there yet, if you park at the entrance to the boat camp road there will be no people. going in there. If you park at the Eagle Falls trailhead it will be a zoo. If you park at the Viking Holms trailhead lot it will be a zoo and it will cost you $10.Funny thing is, with all of the cars and people up top, I only saw one family hike by on the trail in all of the time I was down there. The 1000 foot elevation gain on the way out weeds out most people from heading down there. If it's in June you are moving you have plenty of time. I would just get down there sooner rather than later. Go get some action!

    Sea Plane?? It's likely a Cessna plane on floats not pontoons. What Bait?

    • @wildernesswithamani1027
      @wildernesswithamani1027  8 місяців тому

      The websites you book them on say sea plane. I tried to figure out what people spend on that sort of thing. I think the general term is float plane but I don't work off a script. I often hope everyone just gets the point. If you simply rent a Kayak near Sand harbor the experience of kayaking is way better. I saw they rent clear ones you can look down through that actually make me want to try it. My fishing tips playlist has videos containing all of the details of what I do when I bait fish all the way down to the hook types. Start with rigging up for reservoir trout, then my lake Tahoe adjustment clip, then I have bait and hook videos.
