People look at me with disbelief and sometimes disgust when I look through the skips at work or when a shop is throwing items away but I have taken home countless things that I can make use of or other things I have given away to someone who needs it.
Let them look as long as they want ... I do the same! I like to call it "discretionary shopping". 🤣 I live in a condo complex and the things my fellow neighbors throw away have saved me $$$$. I even found 7 Michael Kors handbags which I sold on Ebay for a nice profit of $180. Found window shutters and sold on FB. There's money to be made out there!😉
Ditto. Share the Love. In my neighbourhood we leave things outside to give passers by an opportunity to help themselves / to save a trip to the charity shop / tip. / compost . 💝✊🏽
It just so happens that I was doing the same type of things. Gutters are clean, wood bits and pieces have been brought inside my storage area for use next year. Of the two greenhouses on my deck, one has been put away for next year. The second still has lovely greens growing in it. In the coming weeks I will be replacing boards on a few of my raised beds. It’s good to be prepared! Now I’m off to mend some clothing! Have a great day!!
@@themanofthewoods - it is satisfying! Winding down the garden in preparation for winter and then planning the gardens for next spring. I love all four seasons!
Hello Everyone! Nothing says "good man" than a man doing house chores! 😃 I couldn't agree more with your frugality belief! I do have a lot of home amenities (like a dishwasher, etc) but I only use them sparingly (they're electric pigs) ... I don't allow a mess to creep up on me. I have minimal home decor (dust collectors) and the furniture is in use daily! I have a very very old Kindle Fire tablet and the other day the son said to upgrade ... I said no; I only use the tablet 3/hrs per day. That's what is wrong with society every old thing (even when it still has life) gets discarded and replaced.🤷♀
The off grid life is not easy. So many think it’s like living a vacation. There is always something needing to be done. For me today it’s cutting and splitting firewood. Inflation over the years has eaten away my ability to afford alternatives. As I close in on 70 it keeps me healthy and alive. I always look for alternatives to everything and repurpose often. You’re back to normal? Is there such a thing off grid?
I’m glad I found your vlog ! I’ve been watching lots of tiny house vlogs and living off grid ,for about 3 years now . I wouldn’t know where to start as ive looked for land where I live which is extremely difficult in the New forest .It’s a dream to get out of the rat race and be at one with nature and my dogs . When you get to your 50s you have enough of making money for someone else . This old gal is not giving up hope yet😂.
