He still commands the stage like no other. Can't deny the power of Steve Perry.
What a great speech Steve Perry made!! He acknowledged everyone. Even though Steve had some conflicts with his band mates, he still thank them for all the music they had created together. What a man! He's humble and is a wonderful human being! I'm glad he did go to the Rock and roll Hall of Fame. It wouldn't be the same without him

I have watched this before and love it. My favorite part was when he named all the members and then comes.....are you f k m? Any singer would give his A for that S! I LOVED IT! LOL. I'm so proud of him for saying what he did about Arnel ( One of Steve's biggest fans), and also, regardless of the past, recognizing Neil for his mega talent. Love this man!

actually, he is a great vocalist (1) and actually, (2) he was successfully replaced, by Arnold P. Who, vocally, is easily as great and dynamic as Steve Perry.
@@jayborn2610 Arnold P… don’t even know who that is… In my eyes, I’m sure the guy is a great vocalist, whoever Journey may have chosen to replace Steve, had to be a good vocalist. But in my eyes, nobody can touch Steve Perry vocals.

I just rewatched this video. The singer who replaced Steve is Arnell, not Arnold. Just saying.
@@jayborn2610Actually Arnel didn't replace Steve Perry. Actually he was replaced by Steve Augeri. Who inturn was replaced by Jeff Scott Soto. Then came Arnel Pineda.
There is only one word to describe Steve, HUMBLE. He is like no other man I've ever followed. He loves his fans like family.

Jimi Jamison with Survivor had a phenomenally powerful voice. As did Bickler. Jim Peteric was one of the best song writters of all times. He wrote for others besides Survivor. He did some for 38 special and other's. It is shameful that Survivor was never inducted into the Hall of Fame. There are many people around the globe that feel the same way.. R.I.P Jimi Jamison ❤

Love it!!!!! But what about Arnel??
Steve gave props to Arnel, looked for him in the front row (?), and asked Arnel to stand and/or be recognized.
However, the *original* Journey was inducted, this was on a large part based on their chart-topping hits & album sales-during the time they were a major touring band-who wrote their own songs; were top-notch musicians; and boasted one of the most spectacular voices in RnR, who contributed in creating the power ballad.
Arnel is wonderful, but he wasn’t even alive when the foundation of Journey was laid, nor when it took-off with an unprecedented flourish: That’s the band inducted into the RnR HoF: The creators and innovators of the Steve Perry+Journey line-up.

Didn't know till today, Perry has simply refused to talk to the band, except through lawyers. And i thought MY family was dysfunctional...
The Award Show, was apparently IT. Before, AND AFTER.
Perry had been, on and off with Journey, the band, WAY before he left. Injuries can be a bitch. So totally could have been legit.. but what explains, what came after???
Perry ain't hurting, financially. He gets 12% of Touring Revenues.. he's not lying, ignored, thrown away, and destitute, in some alley.
And, lets face it, Arnel is generating those revenues. Not just his voice, but dewy faced youth and beauty, is generating TWO more generations, of Journey fans..not to mention, the huge NEW Asian market. He IS THEIR boy...and they, rightfully, love him.
This not merely a revival, but a REBIRTH of the Band.
Frankly, hiring Arnel, could have, SO EASILY been the stupiest thing EVER, in Rock history. Instead, it PROVED TO BE, FLIPPING BRILIANT.
WAY to go guys.
But PLEASE send your wives shopping. They could destroy you...leaving millions of greiving fans, in their wake..
Steve Perry has a wonderful singing voice and he's still good looking today. I love listening to his music and his wonderful voice. I hope he keeps up the great work he does and to make people like myself smiling and happy. Thank you Steve Perry.
Nice video I had one issue with this dude he immediately thanked his attorney. Now contractually he can't perform with the group. If he does it voids the legal agreement
“This dude” did not immediately thank his attorney. Steve Perry gave props and expressed gratitude to his extremely talented band mates and countless compadres, along with praising Arnel - before mentioning his attorney ~80% into his speech.
Steve Perry had to bow-out of the band for personal and health reasons.
The ramifications of a lead singer needing to step-down creates enormous business complications for a record label and the copyright holders, as well as re-assessing residuals; percentages; ownership splits and addressing concerns of a myriad of corporate entities.
The industry has changed somewhat these days, however, when Journey got signed-the label owned them.
Artists from Journey’s time and all of those before, had to fight the labels (owned by multi-national conglomerates), to retain rights to their intellectual property, have say in the usage of a particular piece of work or have redress to monetary compensation from contracts they signed to get their first record deal.
An artist could go broke attempting to gain ownership of their own intellectual property.
Good on Steve for thanking his lawyer!
REALITY CHECK to all you "no ONE CAN EVER REPLACE HIM: He, Steve Perry, is great. Arnold, who HAS REPLACED HIM......is easily as great a singer as Steve Perry. Millions of fans, Sold out worldwide concerts. have established his, Arnold's, place as THE NEW LEGENDARY LEAD SINGER OF JOURNEY... So you live in your own world......ok.....that's ok...........but it is only your world......not the rest of the world...........
