THE WORD ART! Yikes! I've always thought the same. But for me there's one thing thats's worse... And that is those framed Chanel prints and the luxury designer coffee table books.
I'm guilty of the matching sofa, love seat and chair. But my home is beautiful before I put any furniture in it. Furniture is a bonus. But when it's time to replace my sofa set I'll see if I can make a complimenting set of seating instead but for now it works for me.

Who defines what's cheap in individuals home everybody have different tastes I think clutter should be handled the cleaning this is what's important and there is a certain way that you can put your place together does not have to be high-end everybody status is different so cleaning and clutter eliminated is what's necessary personal choice and ideas of the individual
This is so true. Ppl make it seem like their idea and taste is " IT" . We're all different. Some ppl may really like an older look or they just don't care. Sometimes watching these videos you almost feel judged 🤣... But all jokes aside decluttering and cleanliness is all that matters. I think choice of words matter in these kinds of videos.
I agreed with most of your points. Once I got my couch and window treatment it was on.. but I wanted to fight you when you talked about the word art because my favorite piece in my home sits in the front room and it says "Let love rule" and that has become the number one rule in our home besides the other one that says happiness is not a destination it's a way of life. OMG I have word art LoL okay okay I promise I won't get any more 🤗
GIRL!! Thank you for mentioning word art is not your friend. I am so sick of seeing the words live, love, laugh everywhere, oh my goodness thank you for putting that out there. I Love your suggestions instead of word art. Please keep doing what you do appreciate you style.
I'm just about to move into a new unfurnished place and can't to build up my decor. I've never put effort into the space I've lived because life has always been so unpredictable. Your channel is so helpful and I can't wait to create a home I'm proud of
I agree. My place is unfurnished at the moment and I’ve never put into my own place because I’m always on the go, but I’m currently furniture shopping and I have an idea on how I’m going to decorate.
My house is a mess!! I watched parts 1 & 2 😭🤣 I had some major allergies a few years ago and we got rid of all curtains and rugs. It helped. But now there are washable rugs so I'm reconsidering. Also, in our rental we've never changed out the lights ( I despise them all) and we have been here for 3 years!! And plan to stay for more. I don't know if I could convince my husband though... It all adds up like you said. And I don't want to be cheap! Maybe thrift some and buy some new? Where I'm at just to start is - 5 light fixtures of varying sizes, a couples rugs, 4 sets of drapes and curtain rods, not to mention our kids have really done in our couch. It's like all hitting me at once! AH! Maybe just slipping in one thing a month...? And after a year I won't feel like I'm in the same place. I'm going to check out more on your channel to get some inspiration, I certainly need it! The current inflation is just brutal 😅
Great video!!! You dragged me, picked me up, then dragged me again!!! I was so entertained but also informed. Was redoing my bathroom and stopped because I was getting discouraged about my vision. Came her for inspo. Thanks again can't wait to watch more of your content. By the way...when painting your bathroom walls, paint the ceiling or no? Asking for my dang self! lol
I will be renewing my lease for next month. I did not put effort into my apartment for my first year as I was living under hard walkers and was miserable and couldn’t wait to get out. Not many options atm so I’m staying and ready to enjoy my place.
First time viewer & I'm a Boomer, so Great job & you're Spot-on. 👍Love your presentation and your candor .😍 Here's a few additional thoughts for your viewers... It's so easy these days to find examples & advice about decor, so take time & do your research. Also, sometimes matching sets can be a good thing & often are a resonably priced way to get started at least . Oft times it takes some experience &/or cash flow to put separate pieces together well & there's always time for in thefuture. Even yet, for older seniors who are relocating &/or downsizing, these sets make decorating much more simple & affordable. Lastly, beware of knick knacks, collectibles, keep sakes &/or mementos as they can easily overwhelme your space physically & visually. 😕 Anyway, Keep up the great work. Also, you're pretty enough to be in show business 🤩 blessings from Fl, kj ❤
Yesss to all of this. Love that you can walk folk through messing with electric. I've been in the same home for 13 years. My 100 year old home needs a lighting upgrade like 30 years ago. 🤦🏼 & Amen to trash curtains.

Girl I closed in August and I’m finally about to move in. Let’s just say I did good with the interior design as it pertains to knocking walls down, painting, and tiling. Now I have no clue where to start for furniture
Hi, Hope you don't mind but there are a few consignment shops near your area. One is called Lost and Found, Airpark Consignment and Iconsign. Hope this helps.
Hope you don’t mind me chiming in. You are in a blessed spot if you are starting from scratch. Let’s say your decorating a living room; Firstly measure the area you need to place furniture, see how much space you have around the area google ‘space between furniture’ # tip is to store all your home measurements in notes in your phone. Then I would go on Pinterest and find design styles you like, save images create several mood boards, a mood board can even just be images you love, what tone you want to create etc. Think of the largest piece of furniture, and buy something you love, everything will need to work around that. If you know about the colour wheel this will help you to tone and contrast. Remember paint colours can always be change if it doesn’t work with your furniture. Hope that helps a little.
Wow, I simply love how you make it plain! You're so candid with your teaching technique and that is so dope! You know how to keep it real! I like how your bonus tip, to me you said it right, the key word is "Balance"!! I love decorating and organizing, and I'm so glad I found you!
I’d love to make next apartment look nicer. (I love that wall behind you). But! I’m nervous about my deposit or landlord/maintenance visits. (Especially with darker paints.) What’s your move out/resetting process like? Do you bite the bullet on the deposit?
Make sure to ask if you can paint before you do but I’ve painted walls and just asked the maintenance man what the paint color is and just paint the wall back before you leave
@@Knottylilpoet Paint the wall back before leaving? I guess if you don't mind putting money and time into it and you know you're going to stay for a LONG time, it's fine but no way would I bother with that sh** for only a short time! I rather use my time to work more and save that $$$ for a house where then I can do whatever I want. Just IMO.
Sis I'm kind of new to home decorating but for some odd reason I am obsessed with the same 6 colors and I don't know how to make them work or look right or work well together. The six colors are turquoise, navy, yellow, silver, lilac, & white

You are right about the word art 😆. Many of the decorative pieces in the stores look cheap to me for example painted on gold and silver. Some people on her are saying "if it makes you happy then that all that matters. " True, but I like for my place to look classy and put together. I'm guilty about the matching sets, but I think that trend will be coming back into style one day. Love your channel.
Hey I love decals. I think that the right decal can set the tone… I think it has the potential to be tasteless but I think it all depends on the style of the person decorating.
AGREE! As I make changes to minimalism my home looks more expensive! And I had 'word signs' everywhere...ugh...then I realized I could just say the words to my family instead of putting them on the walls!!
I think you're just wonderful young woman! I have a daughter in law who will be watching this! As the moment you enter her home, your hit with word art! Everywhere! Hall, into dining, more word art between all four daughters portraits! Then the living room! More again! She thinks it's inspiring but, bless her, she's so wrong. Now I have access to UA-cam I'm going to have to show her this, as looking at your style tips will surely get through, if not, help? Maybe your home looks a mess because it is a reflection of what is going on with the inside/your heart. It's nice and easy to redecorate the things you can take with you when you move to another location....but what about the things that will be judged on judgment day such as our hearts? On that day no redecorating ideas wiill matter.. I'm sorry, just looking at things from a different angle, maybe this message will help someone.
I really appreciated every last one of these tips. I am just decorating my home and starting from scratch. It's overwhelming, but i'm taking it one room at a time. Thanks for sharing.
I don't care what anyone says about verticle blinds. I love mine!!! They are wheat colored cloth with a nice pattern. They offer light defusion like nothing else out there!!! I control the amount of light entering my room, I have many options.
Why did I binge watch several of your videos .. and ... Ummmm.. OK ... I need to step it up .. thank you for all the advice, suggestions, and budget friendly ideas ! Im a FAN !
Good news they do have rechargeable lightbulbs now so you don’t need an electrical outlet nor do you need a light socket. Perfect for a DIYer who isn’t comfortable dealing with electrical components or a way to be creative and easily do all of those hacks you have pinned or saved and it’s definitely renter friendly. Somewhat costly approximately 7-$10 each but you can use the lightbulb when your power goes out or you can take it camping you can use it for multiple things. So take it with you when you move it’ll be a good investment.
I am a first time viewer. I am mentally analyzing my current decor which needs serious change. I am a senior and looking at change. I'm in processing of downsizing and redecorating. Thanks for your advice. I shared your podcast with my daughter.
Hi Waynaworld, Tonight was my first time to see some of your videos. You know what drew me to continue watching your videos? It's your appearance and presentation. You did not beg me subscribe, subscribe, and yes subscribe. So many people do this and it's off putting, even if I like their content. You said " if you Like what you see so far think about hitting that like button. You don't have to subscribe we don't have to get married but just going on a little date see how we like each other ". Perfect! That's the best way to attract new viewers. Now we bought a home the year Covid Impaled us. So things have had to sit for a while before we can get started decorating. Although you're content is primarily for renters it has a lot of value for home owners as well. Your advice is Very insightful Especially when it comes to Keeping the clutter to minimum. Getting rid of those old plastic bins And investing as we can in Objects with more eye appeal. I missed the segment on how to hide electrical wiring. However I will find it. We are trying to paint first. This house was built in the early 1900's so we have projects to do. As you mentioned look at your lighting. One room has an ugly Chandelier and is painted some bright pink color. Yuck ! So I have found replacement for that. We are doing things slowly. Your ideas will truly help us out. I appreciate your expertise.
Oh my goodness….first time seeing your video. THIS. IS. MY. APARTMENT. It’s been bothering me for a while and I didn’t know how to fix it. Thank God for you girl! Now I can my home together!!!
Love this video! Do you have any tips for renter friendly tips? Especially how to decorate your living room with your couch in the center of the room? ♥️
Just moved into our forever home a week ago. So this is gold for me. I already fussed my hubby out about my damn curtains bc he didn't want to be bothered with moving the rod higher want high value look and my curtains to touch the doggone floor
Fuuuuh that is me for weeks, and then i think i might be there and boom new movement in my head ovef and over and still not done just like frozen in time
I agree with a lot of this. I have vertical blinds though. They came with the apartment. But 1 thing I notice with them though is that they SOFTEN the light that comes through my sliding door windows. When I push them ALL the way back & the windows are TOTALLY EXPOSED, the light is Too Harsh. But when the blinds are left VENTED, the light is Much more Flattering. When I get a home that I imagine for myself, it's gonna be much more suitable for different window treatments. Besides, I grew up with a Mom who ALWAYS made SURE, we had Drapes. I have never looked back.
With the word art, I feel like that's kind of subjective because trends come and go. Live, Laugh, Love is a lil played lol so I don't disagree, but I just think it depends on what the person likes because everybody's house would end up looking the same if we all did the same thing.
I think we confuse the basic science behind interior design to everyone's house looking the same. If you like word art it's all about finding the right way to incorporate it into your home without it compromising the overall aesthetic of your home. Interior Design is an art. It's like a mathematical equation. Or a tested science experiment. There might be a few ways to get the same answer but it's foundation does not change. There's color schemes, textures and patterns that don't mix well. Etc. If you don't understand the basic elements you won't get the desired results. Most people who do not understand the basic elements of interior design end up having very similar decor styles too and that's not usually a compliment. But it's only because they have not yet learned to incorporate those tips in order to upgrade their own specific style. There's also some styles like traditional and classic looks that never go out of style.
For me a big deal one is flooring. I was able to get vinyl planking through my house a few years back, and it made a big difference. Sweeping, vacuuming and mopping makes everything seem so much better. Ps great vid and you are a beautiful lady.
That's what I have in my new house and I loooove it......first I thought it was cheap cause it's not real wood but honey when you're on a strict budget that vinyl (the right one) looks nice as well.....and don't you have to take care of real wood much intensly then vinyl?
Hey I think you should go for it! I have some word art in my home and everyone loves it. People say my home is very cozy and welcoming. That's the vibe I'm looking for. Classy but still very homey and lived in, not like a museum lol. I want guests to feel like they can kick off their shoes and chill on my sofa and feel right at home, not "stuffy." Your home should have things that make you feel happy and at peace. I'm all about the feeling. Very "Hygge."
@@shenettawebster3756 It’s actually not wallpaper, she made a video when she first put those up! She got them at home goods and she made the video three months ago. I don't have a rug in my living room. It's easier to clean that way. I don't need to take out the vacuum frequently. But a lot of these decorating videos seem to agree with Wayna. Maybe I should rethink the idea of a rug.
Very true,I love a neat n beautiful house, when someone enters your house, their eyes won't stay in one place bcus they are looking at every corner n admire how beautiful it is

These comments are so true and yet very funny. I am going to enjoy following you as I get rid of stuff. I want to do texture, plants in entry way and turn my bedroom into my jewelry making room. Turn my living room into a showroom for my business, move the cut and see department to the garage and turn it into a clean room. The hardest part is keeping the clean room uncluttered. The kitchen turned into pioneer woman style. Will that be a mistake? My house is to small so I have to get rid of stuff and expand my home with more rooms. I like the calm look.
I agree, it is a matter of taste and personality because some of the things she showed I liked but some ideas were just ugly to me and I'd never do it her way. What one person things is pretty doesn't mean everyone thinks it is.

You popped up in my recommendations wasn't even looking up anything home decor. Was looking up success videos. I am in love! I smashed that red button and like button! Can't wait to binge watch!! You got me ready to redo my whole house🤣🤣😍
That’s awesome! Welcome to the family Kyesha!
@@Waynaworld thank you for the welcome honey!! I'm happy to be apart of the family!!
I "LOVE" that I found you!!!! I'm about to downsize BIG TIME and I was going to go cheap on our sofa. NOW!! THANKS TO YOU YOU BEAUTIFUL SOUL, inside and out, that I am buying a NEW GRAY ONE!!
THANK YOU 😍 THANKFUL FOR YOUR CHANNEL. YEP I'VE SUBSCRIBED.👏👏 Keep up the AWESOME WORK!!!
Congratulations sis! I’m so happy for you!!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Ok 1st! YAY and congrats. 2nd... I hope things settle for your and life is predictably joyful
Hi I’m Whitney! Saw part 2 first and then came to see part 1! Both videos are giving authenticity and I love it here! New subbie, so thank you!
Me too sunshine. Lol 🌞
My house is a mess!! I watched parts 1 & 2 😭🤣
I had some major allergies a few years ago and we got rid of all curtains and rugs.
That's the attitude ,make it work for you ,don't let anyone steal your ' shine'
Anyway, Keep up the great work. Also, you're pretty enough to be in show business 🤩 blessings from Fl, kj ❤
I agreed with everything you said. I have never heard it anywhere that too much glam screams cheap but that’s how I feel about too much glam. ❤️❤️❤️
Yesss to all of this. Love that you can walk folk through messing with electric. I've been in the same home for 13 years. My 100 year old home needs a lighting upgrade like 30 years ago. 🤦🏼 & Amen to trash curtains.
Super important to balance the theme; little glam and chrome, little warm woods and plants, soft cozy fabrics and warm lighting.
Love this!🔥
I am SO HAPPY I found your channel. I love how everything you recommend is so reasonable, affordable, doable. I feel like I can actually apply your tips. Sometimes styling UA-cam videos make me feel inadequate in what I can afford, or do. Thank you!!
Although your ideas are great I think a person home should represent who they are..at the end of the day they have to live in it....I love having some of my furniture matching it's my style....
Hi Donna, these are just my opinions. Always decorate for YOU! I’m just sharing was some designer do’s and don’t are.
I have found good rugs at Big Lots and Ollies as well. Adding rugs and upgrading lights made such a difference in my spaces.
Yea! At Home has great affordable rugs too!
You are so positive and personable, delivering good, helpful & usable 'content' and opportunities to viewers;
I enjoy your site & thank you so much
for all the thoughtful planning, many hours of editing- -and most importantly (4 me), is letting us see that you are enjoying what you do in every presentation....now THAT makes me feel good!
Thanks again for all that you bring forward, as- -one 'home-space' at a time, you are making a difference! 😌👋
Thank you Linda! Your kind words are appreciated and needed. Have a beautiful day! 😘
Girl I closed in August and I’m finally about to move in. Let’s just say I did good with the interior design as it pertains to knocking walls down, painting, and tiling. Now I have no clue where to start for furniture
Hi,
Hope you don't mind but there are a few consignment shops near your area.
@@shalenef.5143 thanks so much I will definitely consider this.
@@nana23ac thanks for the tips on the color wheel and the measurements. I don't have big spaces it's a town home but, I will try to figure it all out.
@@Sassybesos You are more than welcomed.
Wow, I simply love how you make it plain! You're so candid with your teaching technique and that is so dope! You know how to keep it real! I like how your bonus tip, to me you said it right, the key word is "Balance"!! I love decorating and organizing, and I'm so glad I found you!
I definitely agree with you especially when it comes to those over blinged out decor. The mirrors and all the bling gives me 90s vibes.
I’ll answer this question in my next video.
Just IMO.
Wooooo girl!!! You just said everything I agree with!! I laughed so hard at wall words and the glam!!! So VERY true!! Love this video!!!!!
Sis I'm kind of new to home decorating but for some odd reason I am obsessed with the same 6 colors and I don't know how to make them work or look right or work well together. The six colors are turquoise, navy, yellow, silver, lilac, & white
Girl I’m guilty of matchy soft / loveseat…. This is why I’m saving to redecorate. Thanks for your tickets
I have the matching living room set, however my space is pretty big.
Nothing wrong with matchy at all…that’s what patterned or textured throws and pillows are for instead of the ones that come with it.
Yeah I’m getting new pillows cause mines are too big . I like my sofa and loveseat for the time being. It’s not a priority right now
Oh yeah 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
I have a small teal matching set that has a modern yet classy look and I paired it with a beautiful white rug with a ray Charles painting behind it. I personally love it and all my guest do too.
I don’t know who you are or where you been but you’re the most real person I’ve seen on the Internet since I have been on it. I love your ideas and I’m going to subscribe and like you and become a member of whatever you said become a member of you are honey you are fabulous!
I agree with you I used to be glam everything ! Couldn't nobody tell me nothing!! Then one day I was like wtf was I thinking? Lol..I still have some pieces but never again!! A balance is always looks better. Tfs
Married to an EM VET, and I have learned sooooo much 🥴 about electrical and hanging tvs, light fixtures etc. I absolutely LOVE your content! Love your tips and advice, keep aspiring! ❤️
Oh my word! I am afraid I will forget something. Girl, how'd I forget how great being creative and brave is?
Hey I love decals. I think that the right decal can set the tone… I think it has the potential to be tasteless but I think it all depends on the style of the person decorating.
Maybe 🤔 a big floral decal, but it has to be placed perfectly
@@Waynaworld agreed.
AGREE! As I make changes to minimalism my home looks more expensive! And I had 'word signs' everywhere...ugh...then I realized I could just say the words to my family instead of putting them on the walls!!
You look ABSILUTELY BEAUTIFUL! SO VERY GLAD TO SEE A VIDEI FROM YOU!

I'm finally able to comment again now that the former President is out of office.

I totally agree too much bling or glam in a room is just gaudy!!!! And I am a bling type of chick, love shiny, shimmer, crystal & I def sprinkle it through out my house, I agree with your suggestions
I hate clutter!!! I agree with your number one. I like all of your ideas.

Hi Wayna! Question for you. For all the fab things you do, where and how do you store your power tools and functional tools?
In my magic school bus 🚌. Lol 😂 J/k I’ll make a video and show you. Great question!
You can find beauty in simplicity I think that makes your home gorgeous

I love matching furniture. I love that gray sofa set you pictured in this video 9:42. My pillows and accessories can be abstract but not my furniture.

Im a FAN !
I do agree ! Although I do think you can over due any style, I’ll always be a glam girl 💖
I shared your podcast with my daughter.
i am screaming at the cheap AND a mess🤣🤣🤣get us right!!! moving into my first big girl apartment next year, so I am definitely loving the tips.
Its 2am and I'm laughing with you. Loved this video. GOODNIGHT!
😂😂😂Why do I feel like you were peeping in my window?! I gotta step up my game.🤦🏾♀️
Save up and take it one room at a time
I agree with most of everything you said. I've been detoxing my home as well. Btw love the wall behind you.

Thank you for honesty
YES to clutter. I really need to help with this because every time I get it clean it comes right back within a month. So exhasuting.
This was soooo good!! I totally agree w your point about word art and having tooo much glam. Love your content!!
Just moved into our forever home a week ago. So this is gold for me. I already fussed my hubby out about my damn curtains bc he didn't want to be bothered with moving the rod higher want high value look and my curtains to touch the doggone floor
Another question for you. Do you ever get stuck in overthinking a space and work yourself into a non productive indecision?
I’ll answer this question in my next video.
I disagree about the polyfill I just bought some and stuffed my couch pillow cases and it looks good full and not cheap 🙃
I really liked this video. Great emphasis on following your OWN preferences!!
😭😭😭😭i was just thinkimg about turning kids room into a word art theme. (Prayers n affirmations)
@@jdaunno1 thanks so much, i appreciate it

Great video-- thanks for the tips! Can you make a video about how you created that gold & black accent wall? Is that wallpaper?
@@shenettawebster3756 It’s actually not wallpaper, she made a video when she first put those up! She got them at home goods and she made the video three months ago. The video is about planning her office and the title is along those lines. The walls were white in the video, so I’m assuming she painted the walls! They are so pretty!
Girl, I am so embarrassed about the live, laugh, love one. A peloton instructor called folks out for this one and I laughed so hard and took it down. I am not luxe and style defining my style but it had to go. 🤣🤣🤣

I don't have a rug in my living room. It's easier to clean that way. I don't need to take out the vacuum frequently. But a lot of these decorating videos seem to agree with Wayna. Maybe I should rethink the idea of a rug.
Very true,I love a neat n beautiful house, when someone enters your house, their eyes won't stay in one place bcus they are looking at every corner n admire how beautiful it is
Bonus tip made me like the video. Too much glam always made me think that people are trying too hard.

Thank you so much! We need more Decorators!! Especially because it is affordable! Solid information for people who want a nice home but are not wealthy! Hope is here! Lol! Grateful
The way I hollered when you mentioned Yetta! Yes totally agree on over the top bling.

THAT'S TRUE BUT THIS CHANNEL IS FOR PEOPLE THAT WANTS THEIR HOMES TO LOOK BETTER AND PRETTY. AND I'm one of those because I live to decorate.
I agree, it is a matter of taste and personality because some of the things she showed I liked but some ideas were just ugly to me and I'd never do it her way. What one person things is pretty doesn't mean everyone thinks it is.
