    Awesome video. I'm looking to make my first dog collar soon. I wish there was a bit more instruction because I looked the simplicity in your method. Some of the videos I've seen involve more steps than I'm looking to do for a first try

    I’m just here for the dog… reminds me of my old dog.
    I guess that’s a nice collar too - simple project with all different skills in one little package. 😉

    What was that glue for? 2:40? Is that to make it water resistant?

    What weight of leather should I use for an 80lb dog? And should I use Chicago screws? What size? Is 1 1/2” wide enough? So many questions. TIA

      I'm wondering the same thing but unless you have the same thickness of leather it might not be the right size for you

    I ask the same question on the LV wallet but I thought you may see it if I ask on your latest vid. Do you make the LV style wallet with just leather?

    Where do you get your brass rivets from? I've been searching and I can't seem to find them. AWESOME JOB BTW!

    Looks great. Question: why first split and then glue it back again😳

      Josh Luijsterburg I would guess to not have the flesh side of the leather against the dogs neck. 😊

    the width of the leather should be higher because the dog is large.

    Must be fun to hang out at the beach with your faithful friend, What is the pooch's name? My son wants a collar like that for his dog, but is waiting for the pup to grow up. That is an old splitter, you must have been happy when you found it. I like how you stropped the blade for it.
    May I ask, where do you get those rivets made of brass from?

    • @Corter
      @Corter  6 років тому

      Sure! Weaver Leather carries them :)

    Might I ask about the thread you use? I'm really unsure of what to buy. I've been sewing my whole life. But, now that I'm working with leather I'm unsure what type and sizes to buy. I see many people ask this question but, not many answers. I was thinking The Maine Thread co. because I hear them mentioned a lot. My main use is camera bags. That's how I got into leather work. I couldn't find what I was looking for in a bag. There's a lot of bad hardware out there. And my dog is my life! I'm looking to sell dog collars and leashes around here, to raise money for a service dog. If you have any advice please comment back. Thank You to anyone reading this! Have a great day!

      Thread size is different for everyone because it depends on the tools you're using to make your holes - it's also different from brand to brand! I'd recommend getting samples or small small spools of different threads and sizes to see what you like best for the tools you are using. For Maine Thread, you'll only want to go with their smallest thread sizes for leatherwork as the larger ones are very, very chunky. We also use Ritza Tiger thread and Vinymo threads depending on the ools we're using to make our stitching holes and the desired look of the piece

    Don't intend to criticize but ya gotta be careful with those hoodie drawstrings - working that closely to a spinning piece of machinery (burnisher) could be very bad. Very. Bad.
    Always have loved the videos and now the doggo! Plus the Jeep Cherokee! :)
