How blessed we all are to have and live in a land where some of our founders came here fleeing religious persecution. Their great faith is an enduring legacy. Praise the LORD for He is good! His steadfast love endures forever! Let us also pray for all of our Christian family around the world facing persecution from the forces of evil.
I love how God used Paul and the other apostles to encourage and strengthen other believers (Acts 15:32, 16:5, 16:40). I am also amazed at how Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God while in prison (Acts 16:25) even after they had been severely flogged (Acts 16:23). I pray that I would be an encourager to other believers and demonstrate such joy even in the face of suffering. 🙏🏽
Paul and Silas have their ears attuned to the Spirit of Jesus, and they obey-and God blessed them by advancing the kingdom. They even sing while in chains, and He shakes the earth, sets them free, and leads the jailer’s family into the family of God. So much to be thankful for today!
My God shot was in 16:14-"...The Lord opened her heart to pay attention to what was said by Paul." I remember the day the Lord opened my eyes and my heart to understand the word of God. It is good to ask the Lord to open our heart when we go to church to hear what is being taught through the Word. Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Thank you Lord for the cross. It should have been me that died there but you took my place, taking my sins upon you, and gave me hope. I am blessed beyond my understanding. Your mercy and grace are so wonderful.
I want my love and faith to be so strong that if I were in jail I would be singing praise to God! Not wollowing in despair, but loving and praising God! God give me a grateful heart for all difficult situation. Let all of us find good in bad situations.
Today we see how God changes how He “marks His people.” Since Abraham, it was through the mark of circumcision, showing that a man belongs to God and His covenant. But God doesn’t get ahead of us and show us all His ways until we, as a larger body of believers, are ready to accept them. Paul shows that God marks His children, men and women, with the Spirit. Later, at Col 2:21, Paul will write that the Spirit cuts away the sinful nature of our flesh. When I’m living out the fruits of the Spirit, it is apparent to all that I’m marked by God, and when I am not obedient and showing love, patience, kindness, gentleness, self-control, etc., I’m betraying how God has marked me by cutting away that sinful nature. Being marked by God is a deeply personal, intimate way of changing who I am, so that others can see the Spirit of Jesus.
God is Faithful he uses devision to multiply his kingdom. Paul’s steps are being ordered by God. My God shot was Paul preaching in prison and gaining more followers. Hallelujah God is awesome and he is definitely where the joy is 🙌🏽🙌🏽
“The jailer woke up to see the prison doors wide open. He assumed the prisoners had escaped, so he drew his sword to kill himself. But Paul shouted to him, “Stop! Don’t kill yourself! We are all here!”” Acts of the Apostles 16:27-28 NLT I love this verse so much because, I believe that highlights how much God wants all of us to be saved. In the same miraculous action of freeing Paul and Silas from prison in a incredibly precise way to tear the building down to its foundation yet kill nobody, he also saves (saves as in comes to Christ) the jailer and his family. This makes me wonder if this was part of God‘s plan the whole time, for Paul and Silas to be brought in to prison that way the jailer and his family could be saved. Either way this verse and this chapter just reminds me not only of God‘s provision, but also his miracles and ever continuing pursuit for all his children. God is so good.✝️💪 God bless y’all today✝️🤝
So much took place. But, what stands out is Paul rebuking the evil spirit in the girl, which led to him and Silas being beaten and thrown into jail. This reminds me that know matter what, I must keep my faith knowing that I have the power of Jesus living in me. Praise His holy name! Yes and Amen. The Lord initiates and sustains our faith! Faith purifies our hearts. Glory to His name!
This may not be an easy Thanksgiving, being the first without your father. It isn’t easy for us, too. Praise God that our loved ones are celebrating the Feast of the Bridegroom, beyond our imaginations! Happy Thanksgiving, my sister!
Happy Thanksgiving! May the day be filled with blessings and gratitude 🥹 If we are seeking God with the aid and help by His Spirit... unity will show up on the scene.
The story of Paul and Silas in jail is remarkable! They were praying and worshipping God in prison and had the opportunity to escape. But even though they were imprisoned without trial or good cause, they remained faithful to God and thankful. I love that the jailer saw the Glory of God in their remaining in the jail even though they could have escaped. And the jailer was so moved that he wanted to know the God they were talking about. Wow! And after everything, Paul and Silas have the confidence to demand being escorted out by the magistrate and be apologized to. This is a remarkable story of faith, salvation and God's loyalty and love for his people. Bad things happened, they were beaten and hurt, but Paul and Silas were working out God's plan to save the Jailer and the other prisoners. God is working in our struggles. God, help us to remember to do what is right and to follow the examples of Jesus and the disciples.
Aloha, praise the Lord, and good morning BR family. Another day of blessings from the Lord learning more about our Jesus than I did yesterday. Jesus turned Paul and Barnabas life around when they were given visions that would bring unity, faith, and believers of Jews and Gentiles by preaching His words. Our God is an AMAZING God...He is where the JOY is!!!
Acts 15-16 It’s fascinating to me how we can get caught up in a theory or idea and make that particular thought or belief an amendment required for “right” Christian living. I hear it and see it often. It’s easy to get caught up and even divide believers among one another and use those beliefs as a “rule” for what is the “correct way” to believe. I believe that we won’t have the answers to every single thing. The Bible clearly reveals God and who He is, but it won’t answer every single thought or question we have about creation and/or the why of what happens sometimes. I believe we will not know certain things until we are face to face with Him, but we shouldn’t use our differences to divide the kingdom. We can’t scream where scripture whispers. I do believe it is clear that one does not/is not required to be circumcised to be saved. It is by faith alone in Christ and a changed heart that loves Him and loves others that sets us free and allows us to experience his mercy and grace. In order to be saved, we must simply believe! Rest in Him and get to know Him. In doing this, He will change our hearts and reveal Himself to us, shaping us, refining us, growing us. Ask for wisdom and take the time to be in relationship with Him and He will not let you down. I appreciate how Paul tries hard to make sure there are no stumbling blocks that could be used as a barrier for their crew preaching to the Jewish culture. I also appreciate how he and Silas lift others up in prison and their faith and joy are contagious. God does the work in people. He initiates. He sustains. He fulfills. He opens our hearts. We just have to ask Him to come in. Father, I ask that I’d be bold in my faith like Paul and Silas. Help me remove stumbling blocks that interfere with sharing the gospel and gift You have freely given us. Help us to lean into the truth and hold with an open hand the things you have not revealed completely. Let us be gentle towards those who ask questions and who are seeking you- not getting defensive when they ask questions and explain what they’ve always believed. Help us (me) come alongside them and gently explain how and why I believe what You have revealed to me. I pray that my household would turn to you and bend their knee to you. That we would be baptized as a family and unite in prayer while we grow older and, hopefully, wiser. God, open the hearts of my family and stir in them the desire to know you more. Help my husband come to know you and begin leading our home by faith in You. I ask these things in Jesus name, Amen!
Thank you for the insight that the people thought the demon possesed girl was talking about Zeus. I always thought it was cool that she was following them speaking the truth and didn't understand why Paul was annoyed. It helped me understand that she was hindering, not helping. Satan has twisted the truth since the Garden of Eden. He still twists the truth today and I need to be alert to the almost truths that are really lies.
We are saved by grace through faith, but a sign of your salvation and new heart, is obedience to God's(Yahuas') laws. If you love Him, then you Obey His commandments. John 14:21 21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them: is he that loveth me: and he that loveth me, shall be loved of my Father: and I will love him, and will [a]show mine own self to him.
In Acts 16:14 before it says God opened Lydia’s heart, it says she was already “a worshiper of God” other translations say “a God-fearing woman”. She had already prepared her heart to respond to God when he sent her more specifics about salvation. God draws all people - faith is our response to His drawing and it’s the way we access His Grace (Romans 5:2) He is the instigator, yes, in that He has endured the cross and now has offered His salvation to all people and now commands all people everywhere to repent (Acts 17:30).but He does not create a faith response in people’s hearts. This is the whole idea behind Paul’s journeys - to persuade people that Jesus is Messiah and place their faith in Him for salvation
@@Daughter_of_the_King316in a way- I think she is leaning toward God being the one who pre-selects only certain people to salvation and “opens their hearts” whenever He decides to, when what we in Scripture is that God has provided for all people by his Grace and then expects us to respond by faith.
@@Daughter_of_the_King316correct 😢 I try to comment when nuance seems necessary. I love listening to Tara-Leigh every day - it’s my 3rd trip through. But I do have to speak up when I hear some misleading ideas. Even if she never reads my comment and/or doesn’t change her view, perhaps someone reading a comment won’t fall into it. Or even just to clarify the ordo salutis and the relationship of Christ’s death to personal salvation. (It’s about to get crazy as we enter Romans in this study!)

Same with Lydia’s house! Just don’t want to skim over the importance of baptism!
TLC said “all who are saved are saved by his grace alone. Not by keeping the laws” So who is saved? Who’s chosen? I don’t agree that the laws = salvation either. But we can’t simply be saved by his grace alone. There has to be a heart change, a following of Father. A pursuit of father Yah. What does that look like? I just think it’s dangerous to do boldly say what exactly gets us to heaven….
If you truly believe, your heart is changed. God "does the doing". I agree that many people claim to "believe" but do not have repentant hearts that desires to follow and align with God
It sounds like Tara Leigh observes Saturday as the Sabbath? I thought early in our reading we read that the Old Testanent rules such as Saturday Sabbath were for the Jews, and that the Gentiles observed Sunday.
They were beaten with many blows. Think about it. Being beaten for your profession of faith in Jesus. Could I endure this without fighting back? A question I will most likely have to answer……
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. May God continue to bless and keep you in His care. Thank you Tara Leigh for all you do.

So I can't eat medium rare steak? 😕 I'm confused.
The blood is drained from the animals at time of slaughter
She was joking that, back then, perhaps “medium rare” meant that there was still blood in the meat.
Why does he open one person’s heart and not everyone’s heart? Doesn’t He want everyone with Him?
Yes: “All who call upon the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Are Christians not supposed to eat their steak medium rare?
