- Take a quick tour of the historic seaside town of Harwich in England in 4K
Unfortunately like most seaside towns in England they have been left to deteriorate over the last 20-30 years.
But there are glimmers of light for certain parts of the town, with the fantastic Pier restaurant and very welcoming charming Pubs such as the Globe, Alma Inn and recently opened Lambard's Salt House restaurant.
And the very well known Thai up at the quay, not to mention the staple of any English seaside town a choice of good fish and chip shops.
It still a working port town with Trinity House and Harwich Dock still busy daily and with daily ferry services to Hoek Van Holland via Stena Ferries.
Harwich also has the much loved and recently restored Electric Palace cinema, with sections of the old town being used for many period dramas and movies.
So yes Harwich needs some attention a little tlc but that doesn't mean that Harwich doesn't have anything to offer far from it.
What do you think?

It used to be OK but no big name shops. so had to travel out of town Now it has all the shops also the people from the bigger towns moved in. It takes some getting use to, as everyone knows your business. Nothing is a secret.
This seems to be changing though with the development next to the port.
Harwich seems a bit weird
It is a small town that a lot of people moved into but nothing else changed, so nothing to do. Only one main road & only one way out unless you swim.
All places have some weird characteristics. Harwich has just been left to rot for far to long. But after covid more and more houses are being built which is now encouraging bigger known businesses to move into the area.
But the age old problem with any location that is being developed the infrastructure also needs to be updated.
docker s town
It was a dockers Town. It brought a lot of money to the town too, until the Harwich council etc. destroyed it.
I agree with you the local council has really neglected Harwich / Dovercourt, mainly concentrating on Clacton and Frinton etc. Not just the council but our MP has also let the area down.
