@@FSPtransmissions she did a great job with the camera work and man you're fast. I've been waiting for a Tahoe transmission video. I'm looking forward to the rebuild video.
This will be me soon. 97 Tahoe 4wd 4l60e. 208k miles. Going into reverse causes stutter and a clunk. Drive it till it dies while saving up the 2k for the transmission guy.
Thanks for teaching me more about transmissions! I’d love to own a 7th Gen Monte Carlo SS one day and I get a sneaking feeling that I’ll need to get familiar with them 😅. Would you consider doing some FWD stuff or is that a whole different animal?
Haven’t took the jump on the FWD stuff yet, if the demand gets high enough you may see me elbows deep in one 😂 thanks for the comment! You guys keep me going!
Good video. How durable do you think my transmission is on my 08 Corolla 4 speed. 126k miles and it's had 3 drop and fill fluid jobs done on it. Runs great so far.
I have a 2002 Tahoe. Original transmission with over 235k on it. It shudders when shifting at low speeds. Is it time for a rebuild or? I had the transmission oil replaced about 80k ago. I doubt the filter has ever been replaced.
I advise all customers who have a shudder/vibration to have it completely gone through. Something as small as bushing can be worn out and slowly but surely cause more damage. If it has 235k on it you’ve done a fantastic job on your maintenance and proper upkeep. She’s probably just getting tired.
A professional I know does em on the side. Charges 500 to rebuild 500 to install you buy all the parts, and he won’t do it if you don’t use a new converter and new cooler
Do u have a 2003 4l80 video. My truck hits hard in 2nd. I have to let off the gas to keep it from hitting hard if i down shift it from 3rd to 2nd it hits but not near as hard.
Depending on if it’s for towing or not… in my “stock” builds I go back with a freshly refaced and fresh bushing pump stator, 13V New pump slide, rotor, rings, and vanes, .500 boost valve, corvette servo, all new pwm, 3-2 downshift, shift sol. 1 & 2 , case bushing, reverse input drum bushings, manifold pressure switch, Epc, alto frictions, electronic updates, hard Sunshell, 5 pinion planetarys (towing), molded pistons, proper separator plate modifications, screens, gaskets and filters, tail and pump seal, along with the proper torque convertor.
I came looking for a 4L80e, don't these things break? I have a '99 Sierra 2500 4x4 with about 208k and the original tranny fluid. Drove it in the mountains around Reno NV pulling a popup camper trailer, owned it since 59k and just didn't pay attention to some of the maintenance, my bad. It's spent the last couple years on flatland, but the tranny fluid still smells okay. Am I just lucky?
That's worth it. I couldn't do it. This video is the first time I've ever seen inside a transmission. I feel like I just watched you disassemble a robot. Great job 👏
Not sure if this a question you can answer on UA-cam but it’s worth a shot. For the condition this transmission is in how much for the whole overhaul package out the door? 😂 be nice to me
Why do Chrysler/Dodge/Ram automatics suck? I love Dodge but i won't buy one with a automatic. Their 728 torque-flite always seemed to be a good trans. I believe the newer ones are based on the 727 but they suck. What's up with that?
The 727 and 904 are great transmissions but the 48re in the dodges are THE BEST. (Diesel) You can push a stock 48re case to 1,000 hp. I wouldn’t necessarily say Chrysler/Dodge suck, I would argue that upkeep and proper maintenance on the dodge models are more crucial. You can pour a cup of sand in a Chevy TH350 and it’ll still work (I haven’t tried but they are tough as nails) These newer drivelines won’t take that much neglect. But, if you want to hold some real hp the 48re is top dog.
@FSPtransmissions the only reason I noticed is I worked at a shop for a shirt time that had tons of left over green o rings in 4l60 kits and nobody knew where they went 🤦🏻♂️ it was the green o ring in the input drum very bottom under 3rd piston they had never changed one since the doors had been open.
Pro tip. Lose the background music, completely. It so loud that it drowns out what you are saying. Why some tubers think that background music is needed is beyond me. Do you not actually watch these videos before posting them?
My girlfriend liked it and she recorded this video so no I didn’t change it. The music was in there for 2 min out of 23 min. My girl liked it, I posted it, she was happy, I’m happy. Sorry you didn’t like the 2 measly minutes of unintentionally annoying music.
@@FSPtransmissions People are telling you it doesn't help your video. You could not be heard. Even after it ended your audio was too low for whatever reason. Fascinating. I am not mechanic guy and doesn't know anything about car. But this clip is very pleasing.

Thanks for showing how the park works! I've always been told to not rest the vehicles weight on the teeth with park but I've never seen it before.

As long as the fluid doesn’t smell like death your probably good to go for another 100k. I’m not a Toyota guy but I’ve been in the books.
