Been in Hongkong in 1970 and many times there after. Watching the movie brings back so many fond memories from those old days. The street sceneries, the girlie bars and the dance hostesses in Wanchai, the street food, the harbour and not to forget the good old Star Ferry, which got me many times across from Kowloon to Hongkong and vice versa. Married now for over 30 years to my own "Suzie Wong". Best move I have ever made. For those who are interested in the book, it's by Richard Mason. Another famous book of his is about an American/Japanese relationship and is called: The Wind Cannot Read, with a rather very sad ending. I cannot resist adding this little touching note: Richard Mason passed away in 1997 in Rome, where his headstone is inscribed with the words “Though on the sign it is written: ‘Don't pluck these blossoms’-it is useless against the wind, which cannot read.” Once you have read the book you will understand the full meaning of it.
I love this movie! The conversations are so engaging. Though probably some Westerners might question the actions of the female character, as an elderly Asian I fully understand. Brilliant movie. Im glad i found this in UA-cam. Thanks for the upload.
They want to be paid for the viewing and nancy wants her money and the prod company. DONT STEAL. Watching a movie that is copywrighted is the same as stealing money from a bank or grocery store if is not in public domain
One of my favorite movies. I was in HK a couple of times for work. Wanchai looks completely different now. Rode the Star ferry back and forth, just like in the movie. Now I read somewhere that the old boats can no longer be used. What a shame.
I have this movie on DVD and especially now that the Coronavirus is having it's way I'm going to have my way and go into Dreamland a time where movies were made great and I'm going to put on this world the movie called the world of Suzie Wong I remember a time when special men seems like human I mean wonderful either they were or they were not and in this case William Holden was wonderful his character was insightful it's just all in all a wonderful movie I suggest for anybody that wants serious matter of the again the content in the movie is relevant to the human heart even if you're not in this position as her character the title of the movie again is entitled the world of Suzie Wong
that's so weird a non-Chinese, even non Asian lady with non Chinese name , singing a non Chinese song( Maybe it is Chinese song) playing a stupid scene of an innocent lady be so attractive to middle age failure white man, showing that failure while man so intelligent ( As a native Hong Konger, and be a trilingual of English, Chinese( Cantonese and mandarin) , that's full of white man superiority ) Embarrassing, but I am so glad to see the landscape of 1960s Hong Kong
"The World of Suzy Wong" and " Love is a many splendored thing " two of my favorite Movies

Very nice story! Thank you for sharing! My life is similar! Married a 'Suzie Wong' from the Philippines ! Now retired happily too in the Philippines!
I had not heard the second book. Thank you for the recommendation. I read the first one when I was 11 (many years ago).
I fell in love wth Nancy Kwan seeing this film back in 1960's
And The Main Attraction drove me ctazy!!
This had a kind of Breakfast at Tiffany's feel to it. Instead of NY, Hong Kong. Instead of Audrey Hepburn-Nancy Kwan.
Hollywood loved to pair up much older men with barely adult women...think Jimmy Stewart and Grace Kelly. Nancy Kwan was so beautiful back in the day.
Barely adult women seem to pair up with older men. Ca-CHING.
They still do wouldn’t happen the other way around an older woman and a younger man
This movie is one of my favorites!!!!!!
Mine too!

Happy New Year, 2020, Nancy Kwan! One day at a time! Pray morning, noon, and night! God bless!

How about this. UA-cam aka Google is entitled to a profit for serving this up in streaming. Netflix is not free.
@@overlycreative1 Fine then people can pay then the money can be given to owner. Please arrange the payment method. Anyone can purchase the movie.
"Wan Chai is where poor people live." How times have changed. Star Ferry hasn't changed though. Best tourist dollar spent in the world.

My name sake :)
She barely looks Chinese
The actress is not a Chinese
So would this be considered a bit of a racist movie( like stereotypes)
She is half Chinese
Kwan is her real Chinese name

Such a 1960's comment. She was born in Hong Kong to a mixed couple. Her father was Kwan Wing-hong. Her name is 关家蒨. 这对你有帮助吗。
