But on this occasion, Dave actually won his dream AE86 for the price of a meal in a restaurant. With the car being delivered during lockdown, this was the first time the Drift Games team had a chance to look around it. Is it in good condition? Is there some underlying issues? Duster you forgot a few things. It’s not your car and change is ok. In 2 fast 2 furious Tyrese Gibson drove a bumped up Mitsubishi Spyder which barely effected it.

Id modify it in a way that can be reversed. If you wanted wide arches and or rollcage I'd sell it buy a cheaper one. Check the vin number could b just a Japanese door on UK car really are the clocks mph or kph it has blue glass on the doors and clear in the rear that could be bronze.

@@driftgames_life check for any kind of marker signs on the screws in the engine bay, if it has the engine has been disassembled in japan which is a problem lol
Sell for 20k buy an s15 or 32 skyline. Let some one else appreciate that car for how it is as it sits.
We plan on making it our own but staying true to the culture of the AE86. We won't be doing anything irreversible.

I get what you mean but i think the Levin version is way better for aerodynamics at night (if that matters much) and that not all corollas have to be a Fujiwara rep

6:32 that steering wheel is from a AE82 FWD Corolla, they were leather covered and every AE86 RWD Corolla owner had to have that steering wheel fitted, the standard RWD steering wheel looked more or less the exact same only it wasn't leather covered.

What a wierd 86 ! Zenki model (1985) but with Kouki interior ! full of option look like the GT Apex trim spec but it's open diff like a GT-V, frontclip from a kouki but rear is zenki ! Japanese shell but UK specification XD Well This is a beautiful and solid 86 man congrat !!

Re: the dilemma, my personal view is that seeing a car can/should outlive a human, you're the custodian. It would be good that it moves on after you're done with it. And, if that's the case, that it be as closed to how it was when you got it.
There was a lot of dancing done, but it was 3 weeks until we could actually see it!

If you think about it like this, it’s costing you €25, your willing to spend €10k on it to make it your own but if you sold it for €20k and then add your €10k on top of it that’s €30k😳 if it was me id be selling and getting a GTR 32 or similar. It’s yours at the end of the day and I’m sure ull make the right decision👍🏻

She‘s pretty as she is. I wouldn’t change too much. I‘d probably bring it back to JDM spec with the Levin decals and the small square plate and put in an LSD but that’s pretty much it.

I have a full tuned levin myself. but I can barely drive it public roads when it’s not raining and even in the track I can enjoy it only in winter for some reasons you know. Now I wish I had a stock one that I can drive everyday. That is more important to enjoy running your car always fine.
Everyone staring at you? Yeah you're going to have to get used to it. I've always said if you ever want to get a taste of what being a celebrity is like, drive an AE86.
Personally I would just do some minor modifications, like coilovers and lsd and nothing more. But again it's your car and you decide what to do with it, good luck man!
(And I've noticed that this car has late spec seats, since this car is 1985 and it's from japan originally it had diffrent seats)

Just keep this one, Dave. 👍It's allready modified, as it now looks like a UK car. Besides, it's got all the nice bits that make it a more usable car, like Power steering and AC.In fact, with all the options you've got, it's probably a higher spec, like a GT- Apex. So just do what you want. Unless you're making a fully caged race car, I don't see why using this one as a base is a bad thing, considering what a mint shell it's got. I know I'd modify this one, given half a chance. Also, Revo's and lights belong on Escorts, not Corollas. By my reconing a set of Riversides or Star Sharks would suit it much better. 😁

Car never seen mainland Britain went to Dublin docks and went up to Belfast was panda factory but repainted in Japan real good hitting car also apex spec electric windows mirrors , all Jdm ae86s were power steering . Uk had wing indicators, clear lens rear tail lights and different locks , interior differences , real interesting acc flos does a pinion seal , no ae86 came with open diff btw 1.5 way lsd standard

Silvertop swap the engine turbo it and switch it to carbureted for better throttle response. Add half inch wider rims and keep the outside look the same, but an absolute monster underneath
Grew up with these yoaks father had 4 of them while I was growing up and the cousins had a few if we still had them now we would have some house bought 😂

The car is actually a fresh import. It was brought in from Japan in 2016 and pretty much left in storage until now!

If the AE86 was your real dream car you would not hesitate with selling it to buy an S Chassis. When I had the opportunity to buy my AE86 I sold all my cars (Integra Type R, Honda S2000, Mazda Miata) to get it. Now people are offering me 15 to 20 000 euros to buy it but I would never sell it

Given the it has power windows, mirrors, climate control and power steering. It would have started its life as a JDM Spec Kouki GT-Apex. Driver seat should also have adjustable bolster support with an air bladder for lumbar. My Notchback is the same spec minus the climate control just has normal AC.

Here is the thing, my dream jap car is an FD RX7. Around where I live the tuned ones are really expensive, they all have over 500whp with some over 800(swaped cars, either its honda powred, JZ etc some are just drift shells)
But i want a nearly stock one, 99-02 spec with some minor changes like rims etc.
those which are nearly stock is not attractive since you are not allowed to modify cars as you used to(by now there are no stock ones left, last stock one i saw was 2500 eur with the engine out needing new seals. A modified one with enigne out is 4x that). But i don't care since I want my dream car, not a close enough one if i need to shell out up to 50K for one. I also dont want a big turbo 30 psi one either that only runs on premium+ fuel. 250-300whp is more than enough. preferably stock engine(with new seals ofc)
So if I was in your shoes i'd do the car the way you want. it's your car man.

Keep it as it is. The stock AE86's a beautiful like this one here and they're getting rarer by the second. A few performance parts maybe to get it a bit more go but if you do it up or sell it and it gets ruined you'll wish you kept it! Freakin awesome car that is!

The tax and running costs for a JZX as a weekend car are hard to justify. €56 tax a year on an AE86!
Make it your own. Owning an ae86 is a great privilege. You may regret selling it. I say there is nothing wrong with personalizing the car. If you don't chop the car up it won't matter. If you make it your own in such a way that the chassis doesn't need to be cut up then you won't lose much. You could repaint the entire shell and if you decide to sell the car someday someone else could paint it if they need too. It is not a big deal. People often forget that the ae86 is a blank canvas and is meant to express personality. If you look at old Japanese pictures and magazines there are plenty of great looking 86s and they are all different. I've even seen pink ones and the owner's pulled it off just right. Anyways I wouldn't sell the car.
We agree. It's a car that needs to fit the owner and we know Dave has some great plans for it that don't involve messing with the originality.

Selling it to get an other one to modify will inevitably irritate you because this one is so clean. The carcaine in me says make it your own, you are not going to hurt the value of a 25 dollar car. Yes it's kinda sad to "chop up an original car" but this one has already been modified or changed from a JDM car into a euro spec so bringing it back to JDM is not bad. To me it is about the smile factor, if it makes you smile keep it make it what you want it to be and don't look back a clean canvas to make your dream a reality is a no brainer to me. Either way may I add congratulations on winning a cool car, and thank you for the content I am excited to see how this plays out!

I own the one that was in group d when you filmed there so im all about modified ones personally if you want a modified one id sell that and buy a slightly rougher one 20k euros is roughly what I have in mine and thats full sbody suspension front and rear and a Honda k24 turbo engine

Not a bad shout, but with so many other projects and limited budget, we would rather improve it and have fun in it straight away. Projects are great, but take a long time, and we have a few others to finish this year.
