The m16a2 is what was issued me when I was in the army back in the 90s. Mine was actually an original bushmmaster and never failed me as long as I kept it clean.
Interestingly, the M4 I was issued in theater had an M16A1 GM Hydramatic lower. Just goes to show that there's still plenty of old weapons floating around in the military, being repurposed.
Bushmaster never made M16s for the US military. Never. They made M4s for foreign military sales. Georgia was probably Bushmaster's largest M4 contract.
Memories indeed. I was an M-60 Gunner but I did have to qualify on my M16A2 that sat inside the arms room. Later when I became a team leader I qualified with an M16A2 with the M203 grenade launcher. No problems with the rifle during my service with it, reliable and can take a beating how infantrymen treat this rifle in the field and how they clean it.
20 INCH GUNS ARE STILL MY FAVORITE - BOUGHT FIRST ONE IN 1987 - 2 TRANSFERABLE FULL AUTOS AND ( MULTIPLE ) OTHERS SEMI ONLY - 20 INCH THE VELOCITY IS WHERE IT IS
That lock up for the upper to lower should help. Good bit. My issue a2 (late 80s) was so played-out..if u held it by just the pistol grip and shook the rifle, it sounded like a spray paint can..there was so much play, when shooting, I was amazed I ever hit anything
The upper to lower fit really doesn't matter to the rifle. You should have checked out how loose the uppers & lowers fit on the Air Force's 1960s M16s by the late 1990s. Still chugged along just fine.
I like it. 20” barrel. Carry handle that’s actually part of the upper, not on a rail. I’ve got a buddy that has a couple older Colt H-BARs. Tried to buy or trade for one. He ain’t biting. I even tried to trade a minty M1 Garand for one I’m now glad he said no. Since he has two.
Two things bug me at this price point. The upper & lower should be a light/medium gray. The supplied mag should be gray, dry film. Everyone still makes them. Why give us a black mag (Teflon?).
Used them all in my career: the M16A1, M16A2, M16A3, M16A4, M4A4, M-60, M-249 SAW, M2 .50 cal, M203, M1911A1, M9, M40, MK19 grenade launcher, and the .30 cal versions of the SAW.
Interesting I didn’t know SA had those either. I just picked up a H&R A2 and I’ll be honest I wasn’t real impressed with it they were lazy and put abouch of standard M4 parts on it. I did get it a lot cheaper than the SA but still. I also like the markings on the SA lower a lot.
@@TheMilsurpMan yea I’m gonna post it hopefully Monday it was originally gonna just be a unboxing but now I feel like I have to shoot it and make sure it zeros and add that in. It has a F marked front sight post and a nitrided delta ring. They did really good on the A1 but then to get super lazy w the A2 it’s like why.
I’m a little let down with it, they wanted to make this retro and period correct than puts Springfield Armory marked bolt with an unsightly logo on it, and put 5.56 NATO in the dust cover. Just small things where I think they dropped the ball, they do feel nice.
@mikehenrybell2398 not true. I realize the original springfield closed its doors in 1964. This is for your viewing pleasure and education. So if you decided you didn't like it by this review then I'm doing my job helping you evaluate your own opinion! Thanks!
@@mikehenrybell2398 I do like the gray finish PSA has to offer but fitment would be hard to beat on the springfield. It's very tight and appears to be very good quality
This is a parts gun. That's why the Type III anodizing does not match. I would imagine the upper reciever came from Nodak Spud, which is now owned by PSA. Hence the accu wedge band aid used to take up the slop between the recievers because they weren't made by the same company. You can build just as good of a parts gun yourself for $500, NOT $1250. I'm guessing that rifle bag is the other $750.
I seriously doubt you can build an A2 rifle for 500. I will challenge you to make your own video showcasing a build that costs 500, including a chrome line barrel. I'll wait.
Hello again Milsurp Man. I missed this video somehow. I was subscribed but became unsubscribed unbeknownst to me! I have no idea how that happened, but I'm back now! A good video, again, but what else can we expect from The Milsurp Man! LOL! Cool, man! I'm still waiting on you to show us the build you used the H & R M16A1 Carbine lower on. Those are my favorite rifles! If I remember correctly, you said you put a Del - Ton upper on. Was it an A1 or A2 upper? I'd love to see you showcase it, if there's any way! Thanks for the good work, keep it up and have a great day!

Probably not due to this being a retro firearm. It's not really meant for all the new "tacticool" gadgets, haha. I do have a video of an anderson manufacturing A4 20-inch on my channel! Definitely check it out!

Was thinking about one, but the two tone finish not sure. I already have a Colt match hbar.
Look into the H&R line up by PSA!
You should add a Franklin Armory Binary mil-spec style trigger for it to put that burst side to use!

Yeah I was thinking the same thing! You just gotta love that iconic gray finish!
If Colt and FN make reproduction A2s I'll probably buy one of each, while the Springfield looks nice, I like the A2 clone I already have better.
Definitely! I hope they will!
