I have been thinking about this a lot lately and then....BOOM....I saw your video. I am looking forward to my next range session. I enjoy the clarity with which you teach. Thank you!
Great to have found a YT instructor who is focused on passive release consistently. It means no conflicting videos and it all aligns to my current swing. Thank you for taking the time. In your videos on release you get lots of comments about pros having great forearm rotation on tv. I think they are confused. They just need to see this video where you are face on to see that you look exactly like the pros do on tv with a passive release after impact.
Good stuff. I was working on something yesterday comparable to this and watching this video helps solidify it. I am really trying to feel my swing build up speed as it goes on, instead of trying to go from 0-100 in the first millisecond of the downswing. Felt pretty good. I need help with using the bigger muscles of the body and not using my arms as much to swing. Thanks for all you do.
So coincidental that I had been struggling lately, and just yesterday in the garage I began thinking of really pushing into the ground with my lead leg and straightening and the quality of shot improved instantly.
Anatomically , rotation of the pelvis is dependent on the position of the left hip socket . And straightening the left femur( thigh bone ) is the key to this change of position of the left hip socket .How does the left femur straighten straighten ?VIA left hip external rotation , which will also rotate the left knee. One caveat , most great ball strikers do not have their left leg straight at impact , but are in the process of straightening it. I also notice that you flare out your left foot at setup. Doing so will help with left hip external rotation in the downswing and straightening of the left leg.
Hi thanks for this drill. Your other vidéo about rotating through opened my eyes and I clearly understand why I was struggling rotating my hips. Make so much sense that if we want to rotateur the hip and love forward, it is the Left hip that shall clear space the Right hips. This being said, about the extension: I am not a profession of health or whatever. Still we shall consider to be very carefull to no go to full extension, in locked position of the knee, to prévient sévère injuries due to cartilage wear. Thanks again.
I just want to say how good you are... I follow / monitor quite a few online instructors and you are among the best. Congratulations! BTW... Somewhat independently of seeing this, yesterday I thought of this from a slightly different POV... the idea of maintaining left arm radius through the swing particular from shaft parallel on the downswing through to near the finish. To be honest, it involved seeing your excellent piece on Bryson a couple of days ago. Keep up the great work.
Thx for sharing... I saw that the max speed for arms in swing, is 40 cm before impact...and after that they slowed down almost 50% (the speedboat effect)?
Sounds good. I’m a righty golfer with a permanent left drop foot (only 10% power/strength in left ankle and foot) left stability is a real challenge as well as balance. Suggestions?
I think, as importantly, is that the left side move pulls the arm UP which speeds up the club through impact which may actually slow down the lateral move of the arm since it is moving up not laterally.
Thank you for the deals, how do you feel about trying to keep the hands very low on drill 2: essentially exaggerating the left leg action to whip thru. Such a great feeling hitting balls after this drill.
What should those of us whose legs oftentimes don't cooperate focus on? Left shoulder up and around? Maybe our left legs will post up automatically with this swing thought?
The L to L drill is what gives you the feeling along with straightening the left leg of propelling and creates great clubhead speed and allows you to feel the clubhead during the swing. Should do the same drill with the right arm as well.
everyone that is measuring hand and arm speed on gears ect, on tour players. are saying the arms are actually slowing down before and through impact , to get the energy into the club through the release. are you saying thats not happening in your swing ?
This is throw vs pull - based on what I've seen, one might argue neither is wrong/right, but a personal preference?? (shrug) I'm right handed and find it VERY awkward to pull through the shot.. I don't feel like I throw either, sorta a neutral feeling really.. if that makes sense.
Nothing. None of the hands are a viable power source. Speed is created via vertical, rotational and lateral forces. This video is about the vertical and rotational
Chicken wing all day without rotating the forearms over. Thumbs up shaft parallel to ground in BS to thumbs up shaft parallel to ground in through swing. It's neither natural nor consistent holding off face rotation on full shots.

My left arm is the cause of almost all the problems in my downswing. If you try to do anything with the left arm in the downswing it will ruin everything. Watch slow mo of the pro's IT DOES NOTHING!!!

Lee Trevino wrote about left arm acceleration in his book, Swing My Way.

I’ve used a few of your drills… have never hit my irons as good and straight in my life. Thank you for the tips!!!
You help us so much by explaining in such a simple manner thankyou
Thanks Adam!
What a great lesson that makes so much sense!!
@@jchowngolf Hey mate, how do you straighten that left leg without early extension. Its a huge problem i'm dealing with would appreciate it!
So many of your videos have helped me tremendously. Easily the most helpful instruction for my style of swing.
So coincidental that I had been struggling lately, and just yesterday in the garage I began thinking of really pushing into the ground with my lead leg and straightening and the quality of shot improved instantly.
Great explanation and drills. Thanks a lot!
Jonathan, you are the most underrated golf instructor on the platform, I seriously appreciate what you do good sir.

Very very good explanation, kept simple but effective. 👌

Thank you very much for your kind words Jeff! Glad you’re enjoying my videos!
This move really works. Just tried the move this morning and man. Straight and long. Thanks man. Keep them tips coming…
Tell me in three weeks if it made any difference. It won't.
Brilliant, really well explained. Can't wait to give this a go!
Excellent guidance and tuition as always ! Thank you !!
Glad you liked it 🤙🏻
I,ve taken lessons from former tour pros and this is the best lesson I,ve seen ever. Thank you.
This was very very good. Thank you!
First video I have ever come across by you. I’m working on my swing at the moment so this is a God send. Liked and subscribed
Great insight and demystifying the notion of the arms/hand’s generating the fastest speed.
Thx, very crucial tutorial, best i ve seen a long period

Thanks. Easy to understand 😅
Great video and you always give simple effective drills to help too - thanks a lot
Thanks Lee!
Great video, Game changer! U cant get this insight from watching the pros hit.

Yep! Exactly as stated in the video 🤙🏻

Thanks, good drill, to practice this weekend. See you Monday let you know.
thank you ! great drill for power and consistency!
Yes, drills need attention! Critical portion of swing integrity Jon! Nice work here!
Thanks Charles!
Great explanation, earned a subscriber. I do have a question though, what are you using to simulate your shots?
Fantastic video man. Thank you makes so much sense
Thanks chief, with this tip, I reduced 6 shots on Sunday (yesterday)
Awesome!

Excellent video instruction
I wish to show us how left arm and wrist moves after and during the impact in slow motion. Pronation to supination .

Question ? at the very start of the downswing are you starting to straighten the left leg simultaneously as you start the downswing ?
No that’s not what I’m saying in the video. From shaft parallel in the downswing through the ball is when the lead leg starts to extend/straighten
@@jchowngolf Ok thanks
You're a fount of great golf information!
Cheers bud!
You have some great stuff here Jonathan, especially for a pivot staller like me 😮
Brilliant!
Is this stack and tilt?

No pulling or physical throwing happening, all a reaction to the lead side extension 👍🏼
Great video tips
Thanks Lenard!
Brilliant video….
Thank you
Jon been working on keeping right arm bent at impact........ Is that still happening here?
Sure is
Then wat do we do with right hand? i tot right hand is the power source. not left

I’ll give it a bash next practice season

keeping the speed of left arm get rid of my nasty hooking ball you mean??
🔥
Some people play left handed.
Then it applies to the right arm
If you're a golfer with long arms, you'll end up teaching because your biomechanics are designed for you to be a boxer.
👍
😁👍
Thanks bud

What's this "cheating" term being used in all the golf videos when none of its cheating? Is this some bs ghetto slang?
Many people will get that left arm through better because of you thanks
Absolutely
