    Your videos are so relaxing and nice to wind down to, thank you for posting. Is it possible to achieve a clacky build with the FR4 plate? I'm new to the keyboard hobby and wanted to try building one :)

      Thank you for the kind comment!
      It is usually possible to make any keyboard clack or thock, but the extent you can push it in either direction is determined by a few different factors. Here are the main determinants that come to mind for me:
      1) plate material (the plastics are on the thocky end of the spectrum whereas the metals are on the other end),
      2) whether you decide to use any foam in the build (foam can help cover up unpleasant acoustic properties but can also be a more "stylistic" choice for getting the foam/marbley sound)
      3) case material
      4) switch choice (a long stem pole switch really accentuates the clackiness of a build)
      5) PCB thickness and presence of flex cuts (thinner PCBs with flex cuts tend to make the sound more muted in my experience)
      6) keycap material
      Having said all that, you can definitely make this keyboard clack with the FR4 plate and experimenting with how many foam layers you want to keep in. You would also want to choose a clacky switch (there are a lot of long stem pole linear options these days) to finish your build.
      I hope this is helpful for you as you continue learning about the hobby! Because keyboard preferences have to do with with sensory qualities, it's very difficult to convey through words at times. Your taste will develop over time as you experience more switch/plate/PCB/case/keycap types, and that's all part of the fun.
      As a starting point if this board fits your budget and aesthetic requirements, I think it's a great purchase! You may find yourself content for a long time, or you may find yourself looking to dig deeper. This board will give you those options.
      Let me know if you have any other questions
      I am usually pretty good at answering 🌞

      Yes agreed! Akko's switch offerings these days are all pretty good stock, but lube would definitely help with the spring ping.

    sounds very similar to the Monsgeek M1/M1W

      Sure does! With all manufacturers offering the same foam sheets now, I feel like most keyboards these days sound more similar than different.

    I already ordered this keyboard, and it is on its way. I have lately see reviews that it is too bouncy... What do you recommend to lessen the bouncy feel? TIA

    • @TAZAKEY
      @TAZAKEY  8 місяців тому +1

      In my opinion, it's not that much of an issue, pretty standard bounce on a board with flex-cut PCB. You may want to use the FR4 plate rather than the aluminum to make the typing experience a bit stiffer.
      If you are still concerned though, taping over the flex cuts on the PCB (and even the flex cuts of the FR4 plate) might help with lessening the bounce, or you could try to fill the gasket mount with something more dense. Do not remove the case foam underneath the PCB as that's just going to leave more room for the plate and PCB to flex.
      Hope this is helpful! I wouldn't be worried at all !

    flexcuts make me sad but its okay

    • @TAZAKEY
      @TAZAKEY  8 місяців тому +1

      I believe flex cuts are very popular in the Chinese domestic market, so we may see this design perpetuate for some time. It's not my favorite either, but I don't hate it.

    You think it’s ideal to add tape mod?

    • @TAZAKEY
      @TAZAKEY  8 місяців тому

      I think it's more a preference thing - you don't need to tape mod unless you're looking for that sound. I think most boards these days sound perfectly fine without tape modding!
