An American friend of mine once told me the story of how he, as a tank soldier on an M1 Abrams of the US armed forces, was supposed to carry out a manoeuvre with German units. They stood right next to a field and waited for the German Wiesel vehicles. But they didn't come and so they waited and kept looking out. At one point he sat down sideways on the bonnet to get some sun and a few minutes later he felt a hand on his leg. He thought it was a mate and told him to stop. But the mate shouted that it wasn't him. So he opened his eyes and in front of him he saw a German soldier sitting on his Wiesel and patting him on the leg. He said he had never been as shocked as he was at that moment, because the Wiesel broke through all the surveillance paraments and parked right next to his tank. It also turned out that the Germans were there long before the Americans and were having fun sneaking up on them.
I know it's only a game but the Wiesel is lethal in ""the world of tanks game"" fast, agile and darn rocket wrecks anything and yes bleeping hard to spot unless it's moving
The US army also did something similar. They pitted small buggies with ATGMs against a few tanks. The ATGM buggies were more effective and safer than the tanks. Tanks are only there for the direct fire support capability. Maybe you want a bunker down or you want a building gone. Then tanks are useful. But for most cases, their really not.
@@honkhonk8009 If you look at the statistics from the First Gulf War, Bradley's with TOW's got the vast majority of kills against Iraqi tanks, even though the Bradley's were embedded with large numbers of Abrams. As a long-time Bundeswehr soldier, I have had the pleasure of riding on a Wiesel several times! Unfortunately we didn't have our own Wiesel in our armored infantry unit. The Wiesel are really strong in uneven terrain and provide very strong fire support for the infantry. With its light weight, it would be exactly the right support vehicle for Ukraine, because the Wiesel doesn't get stuck in the mud. He is in no way inferior to the Marder armored personnel carrier in terms of firepower and is quite capable of disabling larger armored vehicles! With his TOW anti-tank missile he can even disable and destroy battle tanks. I was there live when a Wiesel with his 20 mm automatic machine cannon split a house in half during a maneuver in Sweden. It's a shame that the Wiesel will probably be replaced by the Boxer family and will henceforth be seen as a light wheeled tank.

A fast, all-terrain scouting vehicle. Welcome back, Bren Universal Carrier. It's funny how much the Wiesel has in common with the Renault FT tank from World War I and II.

I served in the US Army as Recon and we use small tracked vehicle M114A1E1 it had a 20mm auto canon made in Germany it fire a round that was about foot long. Outstanding gun. @@mahari7285 I agree the latest vehicles probably would but we are, at the moment seeing armouries of the past being utilised and the likely hood of manufacture of armour in the future being manufactured to the same level of equipment to forces seems remote. Every Western country is at rock bottom status financially so investment in disposable armour will be limited because all armour is disposable but the crew safety is important. Tin can be replaced good crews must be preserved.
History repeats itself. The Bren gun carrier or Universal carrier was used very effectively by the BEF in WW2. It too had its weapon power increased with a mortar and may well have carried the PIAT. Obviously the Wiesel is much more advanced but it illustrates perfectly how small efficient units are invaluable. It would also protect the crew from the elements and schrapnel.
Not forgetting the Vickers Armstrong Mk.6 Light Tank. This was a tiny tank that weighed only 4 tonnes, had a crew of three and could reach 35mph. It could either carry machine guns or a small cannon, but it was highly effective as a scout. Only they did not fit many of them with radios in WW2. The Germans captured quite a few and converted them to Self Propelled Guns by fitting an Artillery Howitzer inside them.
The Bren or universal carrier was tinkered with by engineers & allowed it to do many things it was never intended to do. It's a remarkable little vehicle for its time, but sadly, it's overlooked by the heavy armor of the day.

Thank You for filming and sharing the information about this small armored fighting vehicle.

it’s thin armor is only needs to protect from AK rifles variants as human being unprotected to eliminate armor threats they needed thin armor that can stop 7.62 ammo to be close enough to do a dingdong ditch on soviet armors.
Cost of the vehicle and cost of operating the vehicle would be main factors for its popularity. Is it a gasoline based vehicle or a diesel based one? Its operating range and top speed are also not mentioned. In today's era of drone based weaponry, where main battle tanks are also easy prey, i wonder whether this vehicle would be useful? Maybe it would be useful against 3rd world nations which are less industrialised or materially weak.
Needs both an anti-drone version with simple flak cannons, and a drone operator version that can infiltrate remote areas and operate shorter range drones from there.
The 20 mm version is somehow aa capable, but the system is too small for any bigger aa gun solution. I mean, an aa vehicle has to carry a large amount of ammo, for which the Wiesel has no space.
Exactly what i thought too. The Wiesel would be perfectly suited as a cheap, versatile mass producable weapon carrier to fill in the gaps on the front line. As AA, Reconnaissance, unmanned vehicle, infantry support vehicle and so on. The Wiesel should not have been abandoned, but invested in further by the German Army.
It isn’t an “x” pal. It is the symbol for “by” 3.55 meters in length “x“(by) 1.6 meters in width “x”(by) 1.6 meters in height. Who would say the car is 3.55 X(/ks/) 1.60.

In other words, the two friends also can be buried together.. 🥲 In todays battlefields, the cheapish drones dominate. This Isetta-Tank simply is based on the idea, of having enough troups to send into the meatgrinder - while others use remote-controlled devices, out from their shelters..

These can't really be smaller than the L3 can they?
The L3 is 800 kg heavier as the Wiesel 1.
@@0Turbox heavier, but is it smaller in dimension?
Ui, ui, ui, schnell weg, schnell weg, schneeeeelll!😂
Dafür sind die Dinger auch gedacht.
Great video 😊
We had the Weasel in our army in 1975, but that was an English only make for the Dday. What you know?
Every light armored vs.1 drone fpv , I don't think it survives the Lancet
The Leo2 cant take a Lancet, imagine this toy.
perfect weapon for urban and jungle
It is very cute. When it grows up, it wants to be like its Big Daddy and Grandfather (AKA the Tiger Tank, and the Panzer-III ). - Just kidding. -
In reality, and even though it is very thinly armored, it looks and acts like a very good highly maneuverable and efficient miniature fighting vehicle of which if utilized properly, could and would be very useful in many different situations upon a modern day battlefield including for reconnaissance purpose's.
Thank You for filming and sharing the information about this small armored fighting vehicle.
Is it WIESEL or WEASEL?
Definitely not the animal
Wiesel, yet the German word meaning the same animal.
And it's actually a 1978 Porsche ;)

geile nummer das Ding!
The drones changed everything these days, protection against them should the priority research in all armies.
Not a Tank.....weapon carrier.
There is an appropriate name for it - tankette.
it’s thin armor is only needs to protect from AK rifles variants as human being unprotected to eliminate armor threats they needed thin armor that can stop 7.62 ammo to be close enough to do a dingdong ditch on soviet armors.
Well , vursprung tank technic innit
Cost of the vehicle and cost of operating the vehicle would be main factors for its popularity. Is it a gasoline based vehicle or a diesel based one? Its operating range and top speed are also not mentioned. In today's era of drone based weaponry, where main battle tanks are also easy prey, i wonder whether this vehicle would be useful? Maybe it would be useful against 3rd world nations which are less industrialised or materially weak.
Mr.Bean mini Tank Copper.
the P1000 Ratte wasn't real. WTF facts check!? it's just NOT the heaviest tank because it didn't exist
You are right, but Germany still had the heaviest Tank with the Maus
and the second heaviest the K-WAGEN
Wiesel can also NOT be airdropped. tests failed and the requirement was abandoned. this vid is severely lacking in fact checking
Well, its an ai-generated, ai-narrated and ai-posted video... what did you expect?^^
Have any of these been sent to the Ukraine? I don’t think so, just wondering.
I could see this platform used for anti drone warfare
I couldn’t see 👈
Needs both an anti-drone version with simple flak cannons, and a drone operator version that can infiltrate remote areas and operate shorter range drones from there.
It's low weight allows it to drive over tank mines without harm
Beautiful tanks ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
German soldiers are not midgets. Is there space for fuel and personal arms?
my car has the same engine. 1.9 Tdi 4 EVER
you can park one in my back yard.😄
It isn’t an “x” pal. It is the symbol for “by” 3.55 meters in length “x“(by) 1.6 meters in width “x”(by) 1.6 meters in height. Who would say the car is 3.55 X(/ks/) 1.60.

🤣
So, if you want *to get AHEAD - get a Weasel*
Imagine that they were in Transformers and they could transform in an giant Mauser tank ;-)
My fav tank ❤️

with the advent of FPV drones warfare, this is already obsolete.
So, why not give it to Ukraine? I think you can outfit it with modular armor and ERA. It would be quite interesting to look at it in different roles.
ok ok but what about drones ?
What about the US gamma goat?
Imagine rigging these weasels into autonomous drone fire support vehicles with Spike ERs , LAHATs, PARS 3 LR , Javelins, or Akerons.
Good idea cheaper to build these ,than expensive tanks if ww3 kicks off and there effective in combat

A candidate drone!?
Brits have the same family of Scorpion-Scimitar-... and etc. Have there been some results in the present troop test in Ukraine of this air mobile formation equipment?
there results were very positive (for the russians).
It can only accommodate two soldiers.
Who, really really really have to like each other.
talk to MBT crews about very close cramped situations
In other words, the two friends also can be buried together.. 🥲 In todays battlefields, the cheapish drones dominate. This Isetta-Tank simply is based on the idea, of having enough troups to send into the meatgrinder - while others use remote-controlled devices, out from their shelters..
@@bigmikeswiss no, there is a simple response for drones: airburst ammunition kills drones in droves and are pretty cheap too :) Oerlikon / Rheinmetal developed it already
both, male and female soldiers will match
