    One question - will two 42inch octas be enough for groups of about 40 people indoors, using 250w lights (think Profoto B10X) ? Consider the photo is shot at the sync speed, so ambient light will effectively be zero

      Should definitely work.

    really great job with telling how to aim the lights. I've watched 20 minute videos where they don't even cover that! I'm wondering if I could make this work with 400W lights (I have Westcott FJ400 which I love)). As for the guy with the speedlights, yes, speedlights can work great (I have Canon speedlights which are wonderfully fast... for a speedlight) but they don't recycle fast enough if you take a lot of shots and when you push the power, you're slowing down the recycle time even further.

    • @NOMcreative
      @NOMcreative  Рік тому +1

      Absolutely! And in this video I'm using a Digibee 800, which is only 160 Ws. You can use about anything. Speedlites are tough with slow recycle at full power and overheating, but possible.

    • @tourinojacks5844
      @tourinojacks5844 7 місяців тому +1

      That is incorrect. The Digibee 800 uses 320 watts of power.
      The Digibee 400 uses 160 watts, my friend. @@NOMcreative

      @@NOMcreative that will be great because the overhead diagrams most people make can be confusing at times. With a picture it can help understand what the light looks like exactly 👍🏽

    What would you recommend as far as lighting for an indoor panorama highschool picture..

    • @NOMcreative
      @NOMcreative  6 місяців тому

      Depending on the size of the group, multiple flashes with large umbrellas evenly spaced.
      Set your exposure so it looks okay ambient, and use your flashes as fill, so if you miss the edges it's not too bad.

    With how many watt power would it be sufficient to light up such a big group? I have a Godox AD600pro (600w) and an AD200 (200w). Would that be enough?

    • @NOMcreative
      @NOMcreative  5 років тому +2

      I used DB800s which are 640w. But it all depends on your camera settings and environment. Remember that every stop of light is double the output. So your 200w is 1.5 stops less powerful than your 600w. With larger groups your lights are farther away. So really you can test it yourself with one person but your light is 20-30 ft away.

    If we have a windy day , could we use for ex metal reflectors? 85 mm or 35mm? I got same situation last saturday, backlight , windy , cold

    • @NOMcreative
      @NOMcreative  5 років тому +2

      These were all shot with my 28-75mm, and I had plenty of space, so the group shots were around 50-60mm. I think you can use reflectors for individual or couples, but I really wouldn't recommend it for a large group like this. First, if you are severely backlit like in the photo, then you HAVE to light everyone, it isn't just fill. Meaning you will need many very large reflectors, pretty close to the subjects, which will get in the way. Reflectors don't have as long of a throw or as accurate of an aim as flashes do. Secondly, if you DON'T have strong backlighting, your reflectors may do nothing. I always have a small reflector on me in case it's the right tool for the job, but I prefer using flash when possible so I don't have to be subject to the whims of the weather and natural light.

      NOM Creative, LLC i mean reflector , it is attached to the lamp head . Ex Im using broncolor mobilite heads.

    • @NOMcreative
      @NOMcreative  5 років тому +2

      @@eduardocortes-dv4lo OH! That one is going to come down to personal preference and outside conditions. The reflector will smooth out the light but you trade power. If you can't spare the power, lose the reflector.

    If you can use the speedlight with F16! you can use it in front off sunlight. Why you do you think is not power enough? that´s make no sense. The real difference that´s make a person choose a buble flash is the recycle time and for speedlight is the size! Not the POWER!

    • @NOMcreative
      @NOMcreative  4 роки тому +3

      Most speedlights don't have enough power to light a group at 30ft away, through a soft box, at f16. If you have one one, feel free to share.

      @@NOMcreative do you know what IS Guide number? Because If youre saying this I think you dont know. 600ex RT dont have power enough ? RS. Look the table off the Guide number off this flash for example and you Will see that youre wrong. Look the Guide number table off the sb900 too and take your own conclusions. This kind off dissemination ideas make people spend a lot off money in Studio strobes unnecessarily. Free education given by UA-camrs and not by professionals creates thats abnormalities.
