Thanks Resolve! Hifiman has found a winning strategy by decreasing the overall mass of the headphones while improving the sound at the same time. If this is to continue in the next generation, I wonder what will be coming off when the Hifiman Buck Naked series is announced. 🤔
Arya Stealth is my best all-rounder. At current prices I'm surprised reviewers don't just tell everyone to get it. I guess it leaves no click-revenue from other reviews though.
@@Äpple-pie-5k Agreed. I still hear Edition XS/Ananda recommendations/comparisons even now from the bigger reviewers. Arya Stealth is $600 and has been for nearly a year lol
can you make sure to test the latest outgoing HE1000 SE model? a lot of people are saying that its been retuned to sound less bright and smoother than when it first came out.
Wow, for once hearing this thing at CanJam was actually spot on! I suspected I like this a lot more than the other HE-1000's at the Hifiman booth, but I almost couldn't trust my ears. Glad to hear it confirmed by your further listening/measuring!
The other He1000 series being so “cheap” now makes this really hard to justify. Both He1000 stealth and He1000se are pretty much the best value you can get in the $1000-$2000 range and Unveiled being $2700 will need to be substantially better than its brothers especially if I have to deal with the Unveiled physical problems.
I'm sure I'll catch some flack for sounding like a pleb or whatever, but even compared to more expensive headphones I heard at CanJam last year, HE1000SE was definitely my favorite. I wish I had $1700 laying around so I could get one lol But yeah, if you're in that price range, HE1000SE is an excellent choice.

9:00 Hey Resolve, i take it you meant the HE1000 Stealth here, not SE. In addition to this review and many others, as an owner of the HE1000 Stealth and SE, I personally believe the Stealth has the very best tuning I've heard from ANY headphone at ANY price. And I've heard and owned a lot of them. The SE has more air, better detail (by far) and IMO a cleaner sound. And it can be EQd so incredibly easily to match just about any other signature. It takes EQ so well. But the HE1000 Stealth has a whole tuning vibe that I cannot describe. You will love it if you get one to extensively review. I am sure of it.
Same. V2 secondhand was pretty much the upper limit of what I could spend on a headphone, and I'm nervous enough about damaging them. I'm happy for a better measuring, more expensive, more delicate version to be for other people.
I think you meant the HE1000 Stealth not the HE1000 SE, but I think you should review the SE as well as many are reporting it is much better now than it was when it first came out and also less treble, silent revisions??

Can you guys make a video on driver stiffness and tension on headphones? As far as I understood it's important and it does have a role in sound quality. I wonder if it's the main culprit behind the timbre of a moving coil headphone vs a planar and ESTAT ?
If only someone could come up with an innovation to make closed back headphones without the drawbacks so we wouldn't have to worry about the exposed membrane
I feel like you are being disingenuous .... The drivers have covers that go on the outside when the headphones are not in use...you only remove them when you go to listen to music, what would you be jabbing into the side of your head sitting listening to music. When you take them off you just put the covers back on, any damage to the driver would be user negligence
Isn't damage to any driver pretty much always user negligence? I think what he's saying is that it's just much more likely to be damaged without protection. For example, I could easily see someone coming up to me to ask a question or something and me just setting them down on my desk and this damaging the driver (I have a lot of stuff on my desk which would respond to a magnet). This wouldn't be nearly as much of a concern if it was protected.
The story going around was someone had a screws and the like on their desk and they were sucked in by the magnets when putting the headphones on a stand; not sure how true it is but that was what I heard.
@@tadokorovsky9746 this is just simply not true. not saying youre too broke to buy them, but the only people saying this are people too broke to buy them. as a person who owns over 20 pair of headphones from $99 to $2000, i can confidently say your statement is pretty damn ridiculous.
I never liked Hifiman, their headphones always sound thin, and I prefer something a little richer, more full bodied I have an Ananda OG, an HE400s and an RE600
As much as I appreciate the live videos, dedicated videos are much more useful. Thanks for putting in the time and effort.
And not 3.5 hrs long.
As an Electrical Engineer with a lot of crap on his desk, I would definitely worry if a tiny screw would get yeeted through the diaphragm.
Its not a question of “if” but it’s a question of “when”
100% agree on this. I have tweezers, some random m2 and m3 screws, wires, i am already worried on my regular aryas let alone something "unveiled"
These kinds of headphones belong on a mahogany table next to a leather recliner in a room with not much else👍
@@hartyewh1 Exactly. If you're incapable of following very simple precautions then this headphone isn't for you.
It needs snap-on protective covers for when it's not in use. AND a headphone stand so you never put it down on a surface.
I can’t help but thinking that this open without any protection design is a truly bad idea serving a very noble reason.
One day, we will figure out some way to protect headphone drivers.
