NOTE: If you steal a safe that puts you over your current safe limit, secretly look at that safe and then choose which safes to keep. The safe that you do not keep is abandoned; place it facedown at its matching site. Be sure to keep all tokens on it. Players can scout and steal this safe as normal.
My husband loves Old West themed games, but I don't tend to like the mechanics in those games - direct conflict & bluffing. However, this looks like one I could enjoy. I definitely like how the scoundrels are made from two overlapping cards. This is going on the wishlist! Thanks for going over it. You're as thorough as always. Really appreciate you, Rodney!
Got to Demo this at Gen Con and loved it. However, my demo guide allowed another player to buy multiple safes in day 1, which was incorrect. Other than getting destroyed by that misruling, this game was great! Thanks for this Rodney!
@@teejleague3838 they only let us play one full day which is the equivalent of like 4-5 turns vs the full game which would be about 20. But deciding on a strategy did not take long to develop. The most a safe can be worth is 7 and the lowest it can be worth is 1 point. Depending on how good the safe you steal is, you can begin to start strategizing if it is worth calling others bluffs or not. Had a friend with me who is new to board games and all questions he had were answered in the rule book as well.
This got nominated for an award recently, for being like a mold-breaker! It's very cool when companies risk to go "outside the box" with their games and create something so unique!!!
if bluffing is the ONLY goal in a game its normally not my style, but this game seems really fun because being a good bluffer only helps you get a bit ahead and you can find other ways to win
This game looks so awesome! Does it work well as a two player game or is it better with more? Does the strategy, rules, or anything change much as you change the number of players (aside from the # of cards in the setup)?
Hey, glad you enjoyed what you saw. I avoid weighing in on how others might find the game plays, as it’s hard for me to assess that for someone else’s tastes.
Unexpected Games really lives up to their name. We hope we are experienced enough in a variety of games to be able to play through the Voices in my Head one with the help of your tutorial, so we picked that up to try, but we haven't had a chance yet. This company blows my mind with what they come up with. I really like that. I don't know anybody producing such extremely different games that stand way out from the rest of the pack....like rubber duckies would in a pack of wolves! Fascinating. I would really like to be able to play this one sometime!
I should say, the Initiative is one of our all-time faves. That one seems to have gotten a little passed by on most radars, which is a shame. We found it so so awesome. I think, if you are a new gamer, or a relaxed gamer, or you want to play as a family, the Initiative the perfect intro to a lot of different gaming concepts.
@@WatchItPlayed watched it a couple of times now, super well structured video as always. Cool game too, I'm definitely waiting for preordering possibilities in my country.
We're still finalizing the release date, but should have something to announce later this week. For now you can find preorder info here: unexpectedgames.com/3000-scoundrels-buy-now
hey rodney! question for you. if i have a reaction on either side of a scoundrel do i get to activate both? in other words, can reactions branch to go both directions?
I had 2 questions but one was asked by someone else and I’m waiting for confirmation. The other was just something I’m curious about; how do the cow and horse work with the sleeves?

@@WatchItPlayed You said you were going to mention if the placement of the Scoundrel on the board mattered but didn't. I can't find anything in the rule book, so I'm wondering why they give you the option to reorganize where your Scoundrels are.
@@WatchItPlayed 12:40. You mention placement, but not why it would be important. I think I found the answer, the rulebook says some Scoundrels have arrows on them so that's why placement on the board matters. If you did mention this later in the video, then ignore my comment. I also just want to say how much I enjoy the very good and clear voice and sound quality of your videos and the lack of annoying and distracting background music. Too many boardgame channels have background music that I have to mentally filter out, when I just want to learn the rules. Have a good day.
Hey Rodney! I spy... Pax Pamir: 2nd Edition behind you... any chance we'll see either a playthrough or a tutorial of that? ... because I love Pax Pamir :)

My pleasure Zach - glad you enjoyed the game!
@Zach Do you mind if I asked if it was difficult for you to figure out strategy for how to play? This one seems so outside of the box!
