THANKS CHUCK. Fun watchin as yer a Good ole boy just like me. My problem is that high pitched whine and I think that's what sound deadener is for. I'm gonna check it out.

My guess is the main purpose of the sound deadener was to keep new car shoppers from hearing it in the showroom. Without the sound deadener I can only hear it on a cold start if the door is open or the window is down. On 20+ year old car I don't see most people caring if it whines for 20 seconds on a cold start. But that's just me, I drive Jeeps so a few stray noises are just the nature of the beast.
