Sir in the example of nacl ionic bonding.. we see the electronic configuration of cl= 2 ,8 ,7. And when it gains 1 electron it becomes 2,8,8,..and is said to be stable..but my question is according to the configuration pattern it should be 2,8,18...in the third shell it is 18..why 8 and stable.

Actually jo atomic structure abhi aap class 10 me parh rahe ho that one is not right...
You will learn about atomic structure in detail in class 11.
But abhi ke liye 2,8,8 hi parhiye...
