  • In this animated lecture, I will teach you about ionic bond and covalent bond in chemistry
Also, You will learn that how ionic bond forms between sodium and chlorine. How covalent bond forms between chlorine gas. The Lewis Structure of ionic and covalent compounds.
    Q: What is Ionic bonding?
Ans: A chemical bond which is formed by complete transfer of electrons from one atom to other is called ionic bond.
Usually, Ionic bond is formed between metals amd non metals.
Metals, having low ionization energy, lose electron or electrons. While nonmetals, having high ionization energy, gain electron or electrons.
For example, the bond in table salt or sodium chloride is Ionic.
    Q: What is Covalent bonding?
Ans: A chemical bond which is formed by mutual sharing of electrons between atoms is called covalent bond.
Usually, covalent bond forms between non metals. One atom share its valence electrons with other atom to get stability.
For example, covalent bond exists in oxygen gas, chlorine gas, hydrogen gas, etc.
To learn more about ionic bond and covalent bond, watch this lecture till the end.
