Thanks so much for doing these. It's very difficult to find quality, up to date guides for this game and you've been a huge help while I try to learn everything.
I recently picked up this game, I have played tons of eu4, stellaris, and other similar games, but imperator was daunting for me, your guides (I watched them all) have added so much clarity, and you are so good at explaining, while sharing valuable tips. Thank you so much for helping me enjoy this game!
Wow, thanks for the shout out and a Happy New Year to you DanisStoned, and everyone else here! You are one of the best teachers of UA-cam who has the ability to break down a deep learning curve within a Paradox Game into simple language for us to understand and play. Thank you Sir for making this game playable again. Paradox is not known for having easy to understand tutorials that are player friendly. ~ John
Thanks man. I had a really hard time getting into Imperator Rome... Long time Paradox fan, but Imperator just seemed dull at first. The 1.3 patch + you're videos have gotten me into the game. Keep up the good work, gonna start watching some of your playthroughs soon!
Thanks Simon, i'm happy the videos got you back into the game. Hopefully more people will get back playing Imperator. Also thanks for the support, appreciate it 😊
@@danisstoned5025 hi, firstly i would like to thank you for you time and for sharing all these information. i noticed that the fort maintenance is 1 gold for level 2, but you said 0.5 gold for level 2 !! i have a question if you pls, how i can avoid paying the head family 40 gold to receive a holding to fix the power base or if you have an other way to fix that. thank you in advance.
@@adelolabi1629 Hi Adel your welcome, always happy to help. Thanks for pointing that out, I must have got mixed up in my wording. Now it's 0.5 gold per fort level. I am sorry but I don't quite understand your question, do you mean how to lower someone's powerbase? If that is the case, then you need to remove any position of power that that individual holds (i.e generalships, position in government...). Also check for corruption, if the guy has a high corruption level, bring him to trial to imprison him. If I misunderstood the question I apologize.

Something that is not clear for me in SETLEMENTS is mine vs farm vs state, when is better each of those? Especially since the last 2 have a bonus in food.
You can only build mines in certain settlements (produce stone, iron, marble, precious metals...) and fams in settlements that produce food (grain, fish...) so build them in there. In the rest of the setllements that produce the other goods (olives, wine...) build that slave estates to rake in the cash since you can't build mines or farms in them.
I think the markets/tax come into the light when playing tall. I have a tall Carthage game with capital at 550 ish pops in my city and a marketplace produces 1.16 income ( 2 heavy Inf mait. ), at a cost of 33 ish gold so they pay for themselves pretty quick. But I do agree they are wasted slots if the are just going to net you 0.03 gold which they would take the entire game to pay for themselves. Just in case someone does not know you can see the effects of building by hovering over it.
I agree with you there Douglas, the Tax Office and Marketplace are best used when playing tall. Otherwise I see no valid use for them in other playstyles.
foundries are useless. I found that, after building a recruitment city with about 7 of these badboys, if you do not constantly drill your army while recruiting, once the remaining units are done, the experience is gone already. and it takes forever to build armies like this. it is far better to just use the army recruitment screen.
Does market increse money gained from trade routes? I just wonder if i can just build many cities in one province fill them with markets and spend infuence on trade routes and profit
Hey Tonda, from what I gather markets do not increase the money gained from trade routes, the just increase the commerce income of the city produce by citizens.
Hi Eric, for a food province I will always go for a farming estate. Food is vital and as you start blobbing you will pull more and more pops into your lands and you need to feed them. The farming settlement allows you to increase the territory's food output all while reducing the number of slaves needed for surplus meaning that you can easily get an extra food good. Hope that answers your question. Later :)
Just letting you know you made an easy mistake most of us have done when looking at barracks. The extra 15% ratio to freeman doesn't mean only 15% are going to be freeman, as Paradox changed the way pop ratios work in one of the patches. Now the ratios are add and actually are a % of the total of all pop rations of the territory. Ex: Settlements only give slaves a 5% base ratio and all others have a base of 0 so so 5 out of 5 is 100%. So now a barracks would make it 15% and 5% and you add them to make it a ratio out of a total of 20. Which gives you a total of 75% freeman and 25% Slaves. Now, this doesn't really change your point barracks are still only worth it in tall games and like you said more land equals more Freeman so you usually don't need them. But if you want manpower they are the best building for it. Don't worry I didn't realize the only 5% slave thing either until I was looking around doing some math.
@@danisstoned5025 No problem again I didn't until I saw it posted somewhere and was looking and doing the math myself. Anyways I love your guides it helped me jump back in Imperator and understand more while I teach myself the game. Keep up the good work.
Your welcome Kahldris, glad the video helped. To answer you question on marketplaces, the reason that they are bad are down to the fact that you need a large if not huge number of pops in the city for the bonus that the markeplace gives to be worthwhile. Or the otherwise, I am using a precious building slot (they are limited and you unlock an extra slot every 10 pops) to only get a really insignificant increase to my income, so it's not worth it. I would sooner use the limited building slots to build other more worthwhile buildings (libraries and academies for example). Hope that answers your question, and stay safe.
@@danisstoned5025 Been looking at it and I guess your right, plus they only affect citizens and not trade huh? Well thats a bummer gonna have to rethink my city building lol!

Im pretty sure the aqueduct only increases migration through having more open pop capacity, not actually a hidden stat of the building.
