Why does it feel like these movies serve as Backdoor Pilots for other shows? The Boo Brothers, the Ghoul School, the Cadettes, a monster version of the Wacky Races. They all could've been shows.
I always figured that Ghoul School, Boo Brothers, and Reluctant Werewolf were the reason that Shaggy is always terrified of whatever weekly creep in a mask the Scooby gang are dealing with/running from. Shaggy: "Like, don't tell me that monsters aren't real, I taught five of them gym, athletics, and dancing for a year, and that's not even mentioning the evil witch in the castle that tried to kidnap them, or the school's fire-breathing pet dragon."
that makes some decent sense really haha. .. for the scooby snax too. everything the monsters did was pretty halfass so he probably didnt get 100% cured xD
Is it bad I can actually HEAR him saying that to Velma after she's said that for the 100th time? He's probably sick of hearing it when he did all of that and technically WAS one for a while

My aunt had the Scooby-doo Goes Hollywood VHS. The "We need you" chant.mp4 has been on loop in my brain for the last 18 years. I am in deeply intense pain
Ever since revisiting it, I'm convinced Ghoul School wasn't originally conceived as something for Scooby Doo. In fact, I think it was supposed to be a pilot for something original. Really think about it. No mentions of Mystery Inc or even anything even remotely close to solving mysteries from Scooby, Shaggy and Scrappy, Revolta being a deliciously hammy Saturday Morning Cartoon villain this side of Skeletor, her incompetent Butt Monkey sidekick (always gotta have at least one of those if you're gonna be an 80's cartoon villain), the titular Ghouls themselves not having much in terms of character (PLEASE FORGIVE ME, SIBELLA, MY FIRST CARTOON WAIFU) and likewise for the cadets. All of this to me sounds like this was meant to be its own thing.
The weirdest thing is, they really could've. In the 70's, when Scoobymania was still quite fresh, they did a Christmas crossover with Casper and a number of their big characters (Yogi, Quickdraw, Huckleberry Hound, Snagglepuss, etc.). Yet, they didn't have the awareness enough to tie in the one character would've made sense in that special. Here's more on that: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casper%27s_First_Christmas
Fun Fact: There's actually a Ghoul School Reunion. OK KO Lets Be Heroes "Monster Party" (S02 E19/Ep 73) actually brings the girls back (and gives a nod to Scooby and Shaggy). It's pretty easy to miss since it wasn't advertised AT ALL. And Scrappy doesn't really deserve the hate, I'll agree. He kind of just became the symbol of the decline Scooby was already in the middle of. He just ended up being the scapegoat. It's kind of Aquaman. Aquaman really isn't THAT lame in the comics (He got a arc when his main villain kills his son back in the 70s. Death of a Prince). It just became easier to lean into the joke, rather than refute it...thusly the live-action movie and other future references.
When lobster scrappy shows up on screen there is a sound in the audio that with headphones on, PERFECTLY mimics the sound of my mom knocking on my bedroom door, the same rhythm, louder in the left ear, and it sounded like it was behind me.
My most give memory of Scooby Doo Meets the Boo Brothers is wanting to eat the gemstones, same thing for the gems in the beginning of Snow White, I dunno what was up with older animations making crystals look so tasty.
The moments from all 3 movies that scared me the most - Boo Brothers - That jump scare when the skeleton pops out of the chimney scared me so bad I ran out of the room Ghoul School - The whole mirror monster sequence haunted me the most out of all of them Reluctant Werewolf - The Schlock Ness Monster or just the idea of getting turned into a werewolf
Ngl Shaggy seemed more fed up with mysteries when he's rockin out with just him Scoob n Scrappy. My parents watched the OG show and always thought Scrappy would be visiting and then something would interrupt the visit and kill the mood.
"Scooby Doo and the Reluctant Werewolf" was my favorite Scooby Doo cartoon growing up and is still the one that I go back to for some nostalgia. It basically combines 3 things that I loved growing up (Scooby Doo, Wacky Races, and the Universal Monsters) into one cartoon. Dracula was really funny in that cartoon as well.
I always felt like the Scrappy hate was overrated. Thanks for making a strong case for it, even though you went a little OC in the process by watching all of Scooby-Doo.
And now I realize the sea monkeys were a metaphorical representation of Scrappy. (Whether intentional or not). They suddenly appeared as part of the show, changed very little of how the show actually played out, contributed some running jokes that weren't too great, or too annoying, they suddenly became a new permanent addition to the show, and just as quickly as they appeared, they were suddenly gone, they didn't get the appreciation they deserved. Just like Scrappy.
I remember liking The Ghoul School too... most of it at least! I loved the dynamic between the scaredey cats Scooby and Shaggy and the spooky girl ghouls (the Mummy's daughter might possibly be one of the most adorable things ever put to television), heck I even loved Scrappy's wide eyed innocence towards everything. However, literally every time it came on Cartoon Network, I remember just getting bored with it midway through. I enjoyed seeing the Volleyball game that they were building up, and I loved Shaggy and Scoob's reactions to meeting the famous Movie Monsters as fathers, but I always kind of felt like it should've just ended there! I honestly didn't care about that witch villain, and I was just losing interest at that point.
Im so insulted you didnt mention the eventual team up with the cadets to save the girls from the being kidnapped by an EVIL monster, honestly the most wholesome part of the movie.
I honestly loved this trilogy as a kid. Three of my most watched VHS tapes as a kid. Now, my son is a fan of Reluctant Werewolf which makes me love it even more.
…and now I know! I spent 44 years wondering where the hell “the hills are alive with the sounds of scooby” came from, with the vague memory it was not on a Saturday morning….and now I know! Thanks, I guess. I can finally shut down that part of my brain.
Billiam has talked about the Bigger Britta Pitcher so much that I actually want him to make an entire hour video just talking about it’s backstory because I want to know more about the Billiam lore!
That style with the bubbles is called tripping. I absolutely love the Ghoul School though. My brother and I were addicted and watched it a lot before it was taken off On Demand. I really loved it.☺️ Nostalgia is tearing through me right now.
Each movie had something great for me: Boo Brothers had riddles for me to try and figure out, Reluctant Werewolf showed me how to drive fast, and Ghoul’s School was always interesting to me because of the boys school, and guess what, surprise surprise, I grew up to figure out I was gay in Boy Scouts full of of preppy kids in dumb uniforms
My Scrappy-Do Experience was actually very similar to Billiam. I also really liked him as a kid. I actually remembered that when I started doing Baby's First Media Critcism and making OCs for my favorite cartoons, Scrappy-Doo was my go-to example of How to Properly Add a New Character to the cast. Because he filled a character niche that was not filled by any of the existing characters; all of the Scooby cast were either cowards or like... a Normal Amount of Courage. They didn't have anyone who was just recklessly brave. Plus the fact that he was a total character-foil to Scooby seemed like a really clever idea for me. Then I got to Online Nerd Spaces and saw everyone hated Scrappy and used him as a shorthand for Bad Characters so, being a middle-schooler who desperately wanted to to fit in these Cool Nerd Online Spaces I was just kinda "Well, I guess I was kinda Dumb as a kid! I even liked Scrappy-Doo haha" and didn't really think about it all that much. After watching these videos, I think Billiam has challanged *both* of my outlooks on the character. On one hand, I now understand how there were more issues surronding Scrappy-Doo's introduction than just the 'he's annoying and Bad' stuff everyone keeps repeating. Even if his personality didn't overlap with anyone, his role as the one who pushes Shaggy and Scooby into danger *did* overlap with the roles of... all the rest of the Mystery Gang. And so his addition to the Gang was yet another step in pushing Fred, Velma and Daphne out, which was a net negative to the show overall. But also I don't think these problems are inherent to Scrappy's character. I think the popular framing of him as just an ill-concived character that can never be redeemed is super-unfair and I think it's very unfortunate that even the franchise itself just see him as a mistake and a punchline.I actually think it would be very easy for a Scooby Doo show to 'fix' Scrappy. Really, what you would need is 1. Give him a cuter, younger-sounding voice. Make it clear that he is a puppy and not a weird tiny man. 2. Emphasize how Wholesome and sweet his hero-worship of Scooby is 3. Make him a recurring secondary character rather than a permanent addition to the core cast If there was a good Scooby Doo that did all of these things, Scrappy-Doo could become a very likable part of the Scooby-Do Lore - but I am afraid that became of the memefication of Scrappy-Hate, we might never see it.
."ain't no laws when you're drinking claws baby". Favorite line in the history of the channel Bet it takes so many white claws to fill up that gallon water bottle. Billiam filters them through Brita filters to clean up the distilling and give them a white claw/ gummy shark flavor he's come to know and love.
At this point just get a camelbak. Trust me when I used to to drink a ton they are super handy and really not inconvenient at all you don't even know they're there. Other than the backpack strap with 20lb of water that you're toting around ... It's like toting nothing at all... Nothing at all... Nothing at all. I actually looked into it and the boo brothers aren’t his uncles. They don’t seem to exist outside of this scooby movie
I really loved Ghoul School when I was a kid. Rewatched that so many times.
Jesus he looks so tired... Just take Scooby Doo away from him and take a vacation until next year. You deserve it man
he looks like...shaggy
Nup I love this vids
If he did that, his channel would crash.
Well it's the point, he seen so much scoopydoo he is mentally broken.
That's his point of this series.
@@reynellfreeman8761 He needs some weed.
As a Southerner, the Sheriff’s voice absolutely kills me every single time. I think that Boo Brothers is one of the absolute best scrappy shows.
Same this movie never failed to make me laugh as a kid.
The Sheriff is voiced by Boss Hogg from "The Dukes of Hazard."
@@newguy90 no way really??? Thats an awsome fact!!
When lobster scrappy shows up on screen there is a sound in the audio that with headphones on, PERFECTLY mimics the sound of my mom knocking on my bedroom door, the same rhythm, louder in the left ear, and it sounded like it was behind me.
Johnny Bravo: (Spits water out) This water tastes nasty!
Suzy: MY SEA MONKEYS!
God that trilogy was such a fever dream, I honestly thought I made those up when I was a kid.
FINALLY, i remember werewolf Shaggy but haven't seen it mentioned ever in the community, I thought I dreamed it lol
Same here!
SHAGGY JUST YELLING AT EVERYONE LMAOO
N: "I never learned piano"
B: "Yeah it fits a whole gallon!"
N: Proceeds to absolutely lose his shit
I love that part
0:04 "We're getting close to the end.. I promise."
Me: "I don't mind"
Billiam: "That was for me"
Me: "That's fair"
So you’re telling me, Shaggy was basically a harem anime protagonist
Basically, yes.
oh my god...
the ghoul school gals even fill the 'uncomfortable awkward loli' portion...
DEAR GOD
@@sarafontanini7051 Oh god no, now I'm thinking about how Rule 34 is probably running wild with that angle, I hate the internet.

My most give memory of Scooby Doo Meets the Boo Brothers is wanting to eat the gemstones, same thing for the gems in the beginning of Snow White, I dunno what was up with older animations making crystals look so tasty.
What about the Skull Ghost?
The moments from all 3 movies that scared me the most -
Boo Brothers - That jump scare when the skeleton pops out of the chimney scared me so bad I ran out of the room
Ghoul School - The whole mirror monster sequence haunted me the most out of all of them
Reluctant Werewolf - The Schlock Ness Monster or just the idea of getting turned into a werewolf
Boos Brothers are straight-up the uncle ghosts from CASPER,
Yeah I knew they seemed familiar..
As a kid I had a crush on Dracula's daughter. I pretty sure every single guy had a crush on Dracula's daughter when they were young.
Can confirm.
And r34 her
I thought more people had a crush on Phantasma, I did anyway.
Susan Blu's voice really seals it
As a girl same
Ngl Shaggy seemed more fed up with mysteries when he's rockin out with just him Scoob n Scrappy. My parents watched the OG show and always thought Scrappy would be visiting and then something would interrupt the visit and kill the mood.
Scooby Doo Meets The Boo Brothers was my jam as a preschooler. We watched it so much that the cassette tape broke.
I don't know how I feel about being reminded that ghoul school exists.
I definitely watched it at least twice as a kid.
"Scrappy and Shaggy's girlfriend cheer them on."
...Wait _what?_
_Oh,_ you meant that they... You know what, never mind.
I have a huge place in my heart for the Ghoul School movie and, to a lesser extent, The Reluctant Ware Wolf, so this is gonna be great!
Whats your favorite part of Reluctant were wolf
What about Count Dracula?
You have unlocked so many lost memories.
So for what it's worth I appreciate you enduring through this.
Fun fact: The girls from Ghoul School show up in an episode of OK K.O Let's Be Heroes.
WAIT WHAT! WHICH EPISODE!?!?
ua-cam.com/video/CBhzbPTS1m4/v-deo.html it's something like them but not really.
@@nathanielhellman6952 you're literally online, why not Google it? Or type it in youtube? Just wondering
@@moments.hybrid I did! It was so nice to hear most of the voice actresses again! I loved it!
I thought the gallon bucket bit was gonna be an ad or something but I guess y'all just like big containers of water on this show
Neat.
ironically, that makes me want one more
Im so insulted you didnt mention the eventual team up with the cadets to save the girls from the being kidnapped by an EVIL monster, honestly the most wholesome part of the movie.
For some reason it felt like Ghoul School was on Boomerang all the time in the late 2000s.
Still is now, the channel recently spent October airing everything Scooby doo and that movie was played like 6 times throughout the month
@@bigguy952 Yea, Ghoul School, Reluctant Werewolf are probably on the most.
@@rebeccawilliamson1978 Don't you've really missed the 80s?
And the world was better for it.
I loved Ghoul School, it’s such a memorable movie. Especially around Halloween! It was great to see the Ghouls return in a Halloween episode of OK KO.
The legit panic in his voice when he realized the sea monkeys weren’t there- i’m dying 😂😂😂
I just thought it was a subtle buildup to a sponsorship segment, but it never came xD
@@InquisitiveRavenclaw lol I actually never thought of that even happening. Then again, I sometimes don’t notice obvious foreshadowing like that.
That style with the bubbles is called tripping. I absolutely love the Ghoul School though. My brother and I were addicted and watched it a lot before it was taken off On Demand. I really loved it.☺️ Nostalgia is tearing through me right now.
Ghoul School was such a comfort movie for me as a child, I used to watch it all the time and I love it to this day.
The reluctant werewolf is such a nostalgic classic to me. I really enjoyed it
The crowd chanting and holding signs saying they NEED SCOOBY was some serious super-liminal pro Scooby propaganda
"Kidz bop with Fred" is a genre I would legitimately purchase on an annual schedule.
13:33 Don't forget Enid, daughter of the witch who _definitely_ was there the whole time.
19:56 Hey, Shaggy pulls, man. He’s got more love interests than the whole rest of the cast.
That's why he's called Shaggy
Velma has her body count up there too
@@jonahwillliams5959 She does?
"She caught me in my red shirt! It wasn't me!"
Let's be happy no one lusted after shaggy in ghoul school and that their moms didn't attend the conference either
Ghoul School was probably my introduction to monster girls.
god, quarantine has been going so long i forgot the joy of watching youtubers slowly go insane alongside myself. thank you for reviving that, billiam
Really, what you would need is
1. Give him a cuter, younger-sounding voice. Make it clear that he is a puppy and not a weird tiny man.
2. Emphasize how Wholesome and sweet his hero-worship of Scooby is
3. Make him a recurring secondary character rather than a permanent addition to the core cast
If there was a good Scooby Doo that did all of these things, Scrappy-Doo could become a very likable part of the Scooby-Do Lore - but I am afraid that became of the memefication of Scrappy-Hate, we might never see it.
Quite liked all three of these as a kid. Haven’t watched them since but I have fond memories. Especially ghoul school.
."ain't no laws when you're drinking claws baby". Favorite line in the history of the channel
Bet it takes so many white claws to fill up that gallon water bottle.
Stupid sexy Flanders
Instead I just put a really long hose on it so that I could reach it from the office. As long as no one was stepping on it since I had to drape it along the sidewalk every morning on my way to work. 10/10 would recommend 👍
0/10 Didn't mention the second half of Ghoul School with Revolta and the Grim Creeper.
They're the bad guys.
The ghoul school proves the “Shaggy is the jock of the gang” theory correct. Also, it’s very nice that it’s as wholesome as it is.
Lost it at “I’m a Doo-Tuber” oh god this is my fave series tho
I never knew I wanted a Scooby Doo's Inferno with Scrappy playing as Virgil before watching this scooby doo compilation.
These movies were my introduction to Scrappy, because of that I never really understood the hate towards him

"Nikko you got your own bucket to".....
Nikko looks at billiam with eyes that say
"no actually this is my portable bedpan since we can't afford an apartment with a bathroom"
Enthusiastically slapping a bucket and shouting "Yeah it fits a whole GALLON!" might be the best punchline I've seen all year
Scoop Doo and the Ghoul School unlocked a forgets memory thanks Billiam!
I used to watch Ghoul School on an old vhs all throughout my childhood, so the nostalgia of this vid hit hard lmao
The "Scooby Doo, We Need You" has been on repeat in my head for +20 years.
The southern sister in the boo brothers made me feel some type of way when I was younger... (Maybe a bit still)
I have really fond memories of Scooby-Doo goes to Hollywood from when I was younger, I loved the songs
Ghoul school was great, just uh...keep the safe search on when googling it.

the fall into insanity from scrappy continues. great vid
The fact that scooby doo has no cohesive continuity is hilarious, but Billium needs a break
Scooby Goes Hollywood was one of my absolute favorite movies as a kid! As soon as the ice skating song came on it got stuck in my head for the first time in 20 years lol talk about nostalgia!
Let’s goooooooooooo
Note - I’d have liked Reluctant Werewolf a lot more if Shaggy was with Daphne instead of Googie
Especially considering Googie was his sister's name in a pup named scooby doo
Shaggy did date Velma, and his real name is Norville. (Just a little extra trivia for ya.)
Watching these Scooby special Billiam has been putting out has made me realize just how much of the older Scooby Doo I've actually seen. I didn't realize I was so well versed in classic Doo.
Yesssss, I've been waiting for this one!
The Ghoul School was one of my favourite 'stay home sick' films when I was a kid :)
What about Revolta?
Fun fact, OK KO, that cartoon series, had an episode where they involved the Ghoul School from these exact movies. Its hilarious.
