What other issues are you having around uploading to UA-cam? Add them here and I'll see if I can make a video about it.

When I go to the shorts tab and click music, the blue button for a new sound doesn’t work. How do I fix that?

I would say the one problem I am facing when it comes to uploading to UA-cam is fitting the playlist, suggested videos, and channel into the end screen. I use capcut to edit and I usually just import a "thanks for watching" end screen to my videos and then try to fit them into it. But every time I do its mostly the channel icon that struggled to fit and then when it finally does fit I have trouble making the videos fit in the box.

How would you tackle uploading with an off grid channel where life and projects are happening all the time? It is a bit overwhelming specially because we are only starting.

Maybe an updated video about all the settings etc when uploading...
Refer each time to a flowchart with how to get to each page and do this... OR timestamps...
Remember to use the yellow dot as I'm watching on mobile.
Cuddles to Popcorn from Bella 🐈
ps Popcorn should occasionally appear in the videos 😻

ALL OF THIS! I started doing all this stuff last year and it has helped a lot! Sometimes life gets caught up with me but when I'm consistent with all this, I usually have a week or two of content backlogged that lets me take a break if needed. Awesome Info Nick!

Before we used to record our video podcast. But we didn't have enough time to edit it as we have our own service-based businesses to run. We decided to just do go live and have that fixed schedule every week. We've been doing these for 3 years now because it's working for us.
The challenge though is after going live, we only have minimal time to do the rest. But at least when it comes to consistency, we have that. Maybe soon we will add more to our team to help with the other things we need to do inside the channel. Thanks, Nick for the reminder! 😊

Thanks for this video. I wrote in during the livestream the other week about "Quality vs Quantity."
Right now I'm making videos that are honestly taking me too much time, and I think I'm going to end up burnt out like you did. I think I got caught up in the idea of retention editing because I saw that my retention went down when I didn't have as many bells and whistles. If any part of the video didn't switch up after 5 seconds, I would see a dip, and I interpreted that as doing something wrong.
But I can't create sustainably this way when it's just me and I've only been editing for 1 year.
It was helpful to hear that creating a better story is another way to get around the extraneous editing. Will really give that some thought. Thanks again!

Just started my channel here 👋! Having a demanding full time job as a healthcare worker means lesser time for me to manage my channel. So I have to make content on the weekends and at least do the editing on the weekdays after work. It’s hard but it’s a challenge too. So good luck to all of us here! Stay motivated guys!

Writing down ideas for videos. That is actually helping me kick start again after a break.
I have worked on several videos at 1 time when I have clips but a project isn't completed. Found out real quick storage space is a must!
I have figured out, I need to film more to have the content to edit. Nothing like sitting down editing and think, I should've done...

  •  4 місяці тому +8

This is great, Nick. Very good framework. There's no right or wrong way, but the most important thing is that you can comfortably fit it into your lifestyle. The biggest difference between how I divide my content time comes down to where the editing fits in. I can't edit a video start to finish in 1 day; I just don't have the patience, so I stretch that over 3-4 days and do other tasks on those days as well.
I'd be happy to share how I balance my time between full time work in a highly demand industry/role, family life, hobbies, and content creation between VODs, shorts, and lives with anyone who's interested!
(Nick - I'm pretty sure I can tell you edited this one.)

First I want to say thanks Nick, your videos have helped me a lot. I was having the issue of not having enough time to get a weekly video out and work a full time job. I'm lucky in that I can work on the graphics and such at work however one thing I was using was a green screen background. Yes, it helped the video look nice, but man did it take a lot of time. There were times I was hard pressed to just get one video done in a week, let alone work on others. However, I decided to forego the green screen and just pick a wall in the place to be the background, and I have to say, It has been a savior. Thanks to giving it up, I have been able to work on multiple videos at one as suggested in this video. I already have my next video ready to go on upload day, I filmed the next video last night, and am already working on the script for the following video. It's really nice not feeling so stressed and still being able to do UA-cam videos, which I have been enjoying doing. My other main issue now is figuring out how to get people to watch/comment on my videos, which I have been watching some of your other videos to try and work on it.

I love the idea of this schedule but the problem for me is that there’s no room for Shorts or Lives. Perfectly realize that Lives can fit into that recording time if you plan out your Lives well, but still. I trying to get more consistent with uploads, I just want to do all the things not just long form videos

Fear of success…(I know right?) Logically, I know that I’m working hard anyway, so I’m not really going to be working that much harder. I’ll just be making money at it and that makes me feel WAY more accountable. I typically record and edit in the same day, and if it doesn’t have to be up immediately, then I can upload and schedule for publishing the next day. Getting ready for my Live can sink me many times. I really need to start that process the evening before.

If you have the time to do it all in one day that’s even better.

I have a plethora of ideas, and what I have been doing is make the thumbnails first, then that with the basic idea sets the tone for my script. This seems to work well but I am trying to hit th 2 videos a week goal.

Nice one Nick. My recording time is mainly on Thursday right after I drop my missus to work and kids to school as I have more peace in the house. I publish mainly on Sunday if I am lucky as I am adding more editing stuff in my videos now than what I used to have before such as sound effects, stickers and transitions. Do you think taking a break for a week is good especially if you miss out on your publish day? And, is it a good idea to publish on Thursday? One last thing, I just hope you are not reading this comment in the loo 😅

      Cannot confirm nor deny 😆
If you don't have much data, the day of the week does not matter. Early on, make it work to fit your schedule. Its certainly OK to skip a week if you have any roadblocks along the way.

I like what you say… but… I’m a musician and I have a channel (my other channel) where I put out music performance videos. That adds a whole other level to this content creation thing. I’ve struggled with getting videos published on a regular schedule. I’d like to go once a week, but I need to account for time to practice (I’m a pianist), especially some of the more difficult classical pieces I’m playing. My channel has been rather slow in going anywhere since I started it back in 2019. I’m trying to figure out how to pick up the pace without burning myself out. Of course, I have a full time job that takes up much of my time. What suggestions would you have for a schedule for my situation?
