Max Yuryev what mic you use while filming this video? Thx
at 5:50 you mention about how many sets you can connect - im confused im new to audio so i would assume you mean you can connect 8 sets of mics to that transmitter but im going to say thats wrong so what do you mean you can connect 8 sets of what?
Hey Max, how are you? Thank you for reviews, I really like them.
Years ago, I saw the review you did with Rode and Takstar. I got the Takstar and I'm still happy with it. Now, I'd like to have one wireless that I can use with my Sony A7III, but that anyone would do it, so my main problem is to be able to use one wireless/lapel with my Android smartphone and my Osmo Mobile 3. I'd love to have some cheap alternative, but great sound like the Takstar. Do you have any suggestion? Please....
I know I would be able to do this with the Saramonic because I checked, but the sound is not as good as the mic you are using to record this review, I actually didn't like because it's a bit muffuled, is not as clear sa the rode you are using.
Thanks and have a great day.
Check here, Mailada Vlog Go is also nice thing. why not check here?

Great video and comparison dude! After to bought the rode wireless go, I knew about the saramonic blink 500 and I thought: "DMN!!!! 2 transmitters at the same time!!" BUT, after to watch this video, I still prefer my rode. BTW, I liked the sound of the blink500 with it lav.
why would you want to look through the view finder, while shooting video anyway??
I was just about to say this lol
Shooting in outdoor with sun shining looking through the viewfinder is helpful
We use both the RØDE and the Saramonic microphones. The Saramonics are more convenient for two-person interviews, but to us, the sound quality and the battery life is simply too poor in comparison to the RØDE microphones. We would much rather use two sets of RØDE, better audio quality, much longer battery life, a little more tedious using two at a time, but worth it in the end. The Saramonics often cut out as well.
Great video though!
That's it, I hear about Squarespace a lot. So many companies promise ease of use, but they don't know that I am website illiterate
Honestly the mic you use for the video narration is the best. What is that called and where was the mic placed?:)
I'm sure it was a pencil condenser or shotgun mic placed just a hair out of frame above his head.
I listened with headphones. Indoors, the Blink had a lot of low frequency bump and pop noise. The Rode must have a low frequency rolloff, it didn't have that problem.
Really? Good to know.
There's definitely a high pass on the Rode, treble is a little better on the Saramonic (on studio monitors), Both sound very similar but pretty unimpressive for the money, probably too much ADC compression in the transmitters.
Yes, same experience. I tested with both mics in an indoor sports center.
@@AccountGoogle_ not so good. The signal will be on and off after 8 meters when I used it indoor. Maybe the interference of Wi-Fi. But RODE is a little bit better. On and off after 10 meters.
Blink with the included lav mic sounded best when playing back on my television.
Just to answer your question, the Rode shotgun mic sounded better than the two wireless mic. And btween the two wireless mics, the Rode Wireless Go still sounded better. But I am going to have to go for the Saramonic due to budgeting reasons
Wait? The audio of the two are "blended together"? What does that mean, you get a single MONO with both mics blended together, it doesn't separate them by left and right so you can edit them independently in post?
no u cant do it like the uwmic9 saramonic
That's why I chose rode.
That would be a big no for saramonic if that is true
@@arielbranco But does Rode do two transmitters?
@@mrredtheman Nop! Just with two devices!
A receiver with that goes directly into the Iphone, that's something to wish for as a Rode Go user.
Just buy a TRS to TRRS adaptor. It will do the same thing.
new arrival: www.aliexpress.com/item/4001280293012.html?spm=2114.12010615.8148356.27.55c27025tGBAJf
So main drawbacks for saramonic are: cuts out about 50ft and doesn’t record into separate channels. Still not bad 💚
6:45, Fail dude, a few inches for distance and placement makes a difference, you have the saramonic lower than the rode, of course it'll already be at a disadvantage.
Agreed
I thought that the second he clipped them on
Which is why he placed it on his chest because it’s picking up on his chest instead of his throat
@@TrashDaddy1 trying to understand you correctly, are you implying he was trying to pick up sound from his chest and not his mouth?
@Yusuf Islam one inch makes a difference in volume.
"Thicker, longer, wider"
That’s what she said...
The commentary section would be lacking something without this :)
@@JJohnson313 Always
Blink 500 has a higher bg feedback noise. Rode has cleaner sound. More professional; not muffled.
With the lavalier mic, blink 500 sounds better than before but the noise is still there. So I still vote for Rode.
Thanks for the comparison.
One thing is for sure after watching this: the saramonic comes with a FREE (free... I mean free free free) lavallier.
Yeah. Which did you pick?
There is a hum sound in the blink and clean sound in rode int he indoor test(iI used sennheiser c300 as my speakers are pretty bad )
other than the sound quality indoor and outdoor is the same.
No two separate channels? I appreciate the warning, Max. Thanks.
This was one of the first questions I asked. Apart from the con the seramonic would have been perfect for my needs.
I think personally the Saramonic is killer for the price but I'm going to stick with the Rode for the user interface.
Using two isn't difficult as all you need is a splitter and now you will have mono audio and can be fixed in post.
Yes you can use a splitter to use 2 Rode transmitters. Use Rode SC6 splitter
Can I connect multiple receivers to one transmitter?
7:13 is where the lav mic test begins. Thanks, great review!
Too bad they mix the two channels into one. That's a deal breaker for me.
Absolutely. That has to be the dumbest thing about the Saramonic system. What were they thinking? They thought that no one would have any reason, or need, to record to separate channels?
Even if it was split L/R instead of two separate channels that would have been okay. Yikes.
@@B-Moye That's what I do with my Wireless GOs and/or on-camera mic. The problem with mixing both channels means that if unwanted sound is picked up by one mic, it's combined with the other. That means a good audio on one mic is ruined by the bad audio on the other. Saramonic must have assumed that users will always be in controlled indoor conditions, not in the field.
Seriously?? LAME!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mixed audio instead of recording each source to separate L and R channels?! Absolute deal killer! Great review BTW.
Hi Max, thanks for this comparison. I'm looking for a wireless mic to use at church but often we have 2 persons speaking (presenter & translator) so a 2 receiver system like the Blink 500 can maybe work... But I really like the Rode Wireless Go, would it be possible to just plug in a dual lav mic into the rode and have each person wear a lav mic? What do you think?
Use a splitter at the receiver end to use more than one Rode transmitter
@@MobileMusic thanks for the suggestion
@@david05cm Rode SC6 splitter will do it
this is exactly the review I was looking for. I need quality but value is important at this point since I am not generating any revenue. Anything is better than no microphone at all. plus I like the option of having the 2nd transmitter. Appreciate your opinions.
7:53 I am getting these glitches on Saramonic RX9 too
new arrival: www.aliexpress.com/item/4001280293012.html?spm=2114.12010615.8148356.27.55c27025tGBAJf
Single, non-splitable audio channel is an immediate deal-breaker. What a shame. Thanks for the review.
Heathcliff Blair Nothing stopping you duplicating the channel in post.
@@artistjoh The audio channel will record the sound of both mics combined, so you will always have the audio coming from both mics mixed together. That's the point, unfortunately, and it would cause a lot of problems in post production if you wanted two independent, isolated, audio tracks. There's no way around it, I'm afraid.
@@HeathcliffBlair Yep, really lame, I mean this is supposed to be used as some pro equipment.
Yes I really expected the saramonic to send unmixed two channel output from a stereo jack. Not being able to re-balance in post is a big risk.
That was actually a pro for me
The Saramonic wins: It’s all you need for interviews, or any kind of two person conversation.

Glad I bought the Rode. From my perspective, sometimes less in-box means they focussed on the key elements and including all other accessories would increase the price too much for some. I used the Rode Wireless Go last week for the first time with talking heads. I had but didn't use the Lav, and the wireless by itself worked great. It was less intrusiv (esp. for non-actors), easier than wiring someone up and convenient so much so that folks kept walking off with them by accident :)
new arrival: www.aliexpress.com/item/4001280293012.html?spm=2114.12010615.8148356.27.55c27025tGBAJf
The blended audio will be a deal breaker for any professional but I can see newbies liking that feature. Obviously at this quality and price point that is who these mics are for. I was surprised how dull both mics sounded in comparison to you regular mic. Your regular mic has a lot of reflected sound, probably from your desk. It might suit you to have a more parallel angle of that mic to your desk. It would also be beneficial to know that mic setup is for comparison sake.
Sounds the same to me, I'll stick with my Wireless Go.
I was afraid I'd have transmitter envy
Do you have to use Smartlav or use its bare transmitter?
I always appreciate practical reviews like this. For people mulling over the feature of two transmitters, look into the Sennheiser XSW-D units which are in this category. They don't blend transmitters. What they do is allow you to switch from receiving (on a single mono channel) from transmitter A to transmitter B with control on the receiver. Also you can mute the unused transmitter, back and forth. I would have found that absolutely a problem solver when I encountered not one but two guest speakers going back and forth to the lectern; plus chatting to people when they were off camera.
An advantage of the Sennheiser XSW-D system is that you can mix and match input types like XLR and 3.5mm TRS on BOTH the receiver and transmitter. For instance, it you’re using a recorder with XLR inputs, you just buy the XLR receiver. Got an XLR lavalier? Use the XLR transmitter.
"Blending" the two audio tracks kills it for me with the Blink 500. That means that the Blink can only be used by amateurs. Why couldn't Blink at least put the audio on a stereo signal with one mic panned fully left and the other fully right? That way you can isolate each track as needed because while mixing the two tracks, you cannot avoid double background noise when only one is speaking. You had my hopes up, but mixing the audio tracks makes Blink not practical.
TRRS only has one mono channel. Cameras and phones with this type of input can only record a single mono channel. That makes what you are wanting to do impossible (2 channel recording) but it also makes the Saramonic dual transmitter concept kind of stupid!
I'd like to hear comparison of better lavs for the Blink 500, what good lav one can get for about sub $50 each that may make the Blink 500 dual lav sound a bunch better.
I love your background camera drawings, where can I get them?
go to etsy and look up CAMERA BLUEPRINTS
Ok sir
The saramonic sounds like it has a low rumbling noise.
Family of Tech it’s sponsored by Subaru
why did you NOT test the Saramonic when you were with your BACK to the camera ? everybody already knows that RODE GO sucks when the talent with his back to the camera if the transmitter is clipped on his shirt in it's front
wait a minute who record audio while taking a picture ?? i mean why would you use the viewfinder while recording a video 🙄
Now this is a review I've been waiting for.
@Musa Think rode.
Saramonik has low-frequency overtones and when listening on ADAM monitors it is noticeable. On headphones with enhanced bass, such as Beats, it is also quite noticeable.
new arrival: www.aliexpress.com/item/4001280293012.html?spm=2114.12010615.8148356.27.55c27025tGBAJf
This comparison really needs to include the PicoMic system.
That is a $400 system.
@@dbreardon So is the Rode, if you need two channels.
Like the rode go but I don’t like the fact that it stops when u turn around
Nice job on your comparison vid. What I have noticed is that the cheaper units sound just as good as the Rode with similar features, but the Rode's big advantage is it's superior recording distance. For most people that's a non-issue because they're never going to be utilizing that. For those that need it, the Rode is the only choice. I've got a system by Kinglucky, which was only $42 and it works as good as the Rode except for distance.
great video man like always...I personally prefer the rode mic
that was a lot of noise floor on the Saramonic
could barely hear you
Rode for the win!!
new arrival: www.aliexpress.com/item/4001280293012.html?spm=2114.12010615.8148356.27.55c27025tGBAJf
I believe the Rode mics CAN be synced with an extra microphone.
I heard upto 8 can be synced
Like as in another transmitter? Their website clearly states one transmitter one receiver
Rode internal sounds better.
Lav with blink sounds echoey but not as bad as blink internal mic
Blink 500 has so much background sound, Rode is more quiet, more clear
Nice job highlighting the pros and cons. And there definitely are pros and cons. No gain change while recording, less informative indicators on device, a bit more bulk vs. eyepiece (if you use it), ... these are not trivial. But the ability to receive two mics on one receiver is a big deal, and the 2 included mics is a nice bonus.
Blink lav sounds brighter and crisper. Do another comparison with another low-cost system like the Movo.
(From Sony's noice canceling headphones)
The hiss noise on the Blink came from maxing it out. But it's not enough to lose to the rode. The rode wins with the little oled display. I would say mixing two audios from two mics is a bad idea
new arrival: www.aliexpress.com/item/4001280293012.html?spm=2114.12010615.8148356.27.55c27025tGBAJf
It's too late I just bought Rode Go watching your last video. But still I like Rode go, simply because it looks posh. Saramonic looks like toys, not pro design but definately they have more to features we need
iam going to buy a rode go too after a couple of days
i hope it worth it! but they sell it 290$ out here without a lav!
How does the blink 500 handle crosstalk between the two transmitters? Do you hear any echo when the two microphones are near each other?
I have a Rode Wireless go and used it outside. As soon as I turned around, away from the receiver, the signal was gone, even at only 20-30 meters and left the footage unusable. Indoors I had no problems with it when turning around.
Yes, that's the major problem w/ the Rode. It's a good quality mic, but when I use it w/ a client or my own videos I have to make sure I connect a lav and put the transmitter on the person's waist on the side. You can't even put it in the person's pocket or you risk the audio cutting out on you.
Ramon Bannister
Indoors I had no problems up to now.
With a lav and the transmitter in the jacket.
The distance was up to 10 meters.
I have used it outside this weekend and it seemed to be fine. But the distance was not further than about 6 meters and I had the transmitter only under a t-shirt mostly facing forward. I did use a lav mike.
Small favour to ask, can you list the equipment you use to record, only providing a link doesn't tell me what it is and my adblocker prevents me from following the link, great content BTW
i hope that too
6:20 is important stuff...before its a lot of empty infos
Akos Simon thanks a lot! 🙏 all this blabla to fill up 10min 😂😂😂
Akos Simon and my conclusion 3min later. The saramonic is useless 😂
Akos Simon Maybe not, you guys. Suggest we use restraint with complaint! Info up to 6:20 was helpful to myself and maybe others. Cheers to us all! 💛

It's like day and night. Rode wins
Why would you put it up to your eye if you're shooting video?
9:56 mate how is that a good value when it’s baked into the quality of the overall package which has nearly a negligible price change? Why would I opt for it when just about all specs you presented rode as better? I’m genuinely asking bc I’m confused as to why at the beginning it’s so clear you prefer the blink but chose rode at each test. I want the rode Go 2 but only for the wireless functions so trying to gather opinions. Again to be fair, this is after Rode woke up and added the second transmitter so maybe that’s the discrepancy
Rode is better period.
These had so much potential, but a mixed mono output instead of L/R stereo output makes no sense. Saramonic, if you're watching. Update this for the next version and it will sell like hotcakes.
Rode👎. Blink👍🏻. PicoMic 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I've seen Blink tests that exceeded 50ft reach, maybe something to do using 2 different wifi connections at the same time? In all fairness you should redo the test separately on each..
If the Blink is fragile around other WiFi sources you definitely don’t want it. This was a great way to test it... I was actually going to get the Blink until the 50ft drop off test, that would be a disaster on a show
That definitely could be the case but I was outside with only one other close WiFi, and the Rode performed just as good as it does by itself. With that said if 50ft is what you can get reliably with other WiFi interference that is good to know because most places have lots of WiFi, and even then for most people that is plenty of usable range. I personally wouldn’t push the rode further anyways. If you need range I would highly recommend a more serious system that has external antennas and more transmission level like the Diety connect.
The audio from the Rode is in general better out of the box but that is probably because there is a baked-in EQ.. The main difference is a 48db per octave Low Cut at 70hz and a Bass Shelf of -3db at 100hz. So if you don't mind doing some EQing and maybe a slight de-noise, the Saramonic is not a bad option.
You should check Saramonic blink 500 pro
I think I will go with two rode systems bring one right and one left in the camera so I can adjust the gain separately in the transmitter and in post

since you're very knowledgeable, what is your advice? I'm going to shoot a couple of web series using an iPhone (currently 8+ but will upgrade to 12/13). Great Max! Thumbs up! But I'm sure I saw a video of 2 RODE's going into 1 Transmitter using a splitter - Is that something you wouldn't recommed?
If you keep the rode Transmitter on your side like you hip would it still cut out when you turn around?
Compare to the price and the performance, I will stick with the wireless go.
How far you can walk with
the Rode Wireless Go?

can i use the blink 500 b5 to dji osmo pocket?
Nice Review. I think they both sounded the same. In the built in mic test, had I not heard your audible and visual screen announcement, I'd not known which was witch. Good to note that even the rode requires line of site serviceability. Using Sennheiser's I find that the transmitter and receiver can be sometimes floors away from each other and I've literally filmed buildings away for effect zooming out away from the sound source. Neither of these would make it for those applications.
Thanks for the interesting video! 👍Would be perfect for me as a driver and my passenger when I test cars.
I'm Planning on getting the Rode Mic wireless an getting the SC7 cord to plug it into my Mic on my iMac and use it as an external mic, but i love that range though 200ft not bad.
I think they are good for different purposes. If you will work with double interview, Blink 500 it's your tool. If you need just a one output, vlog/wedding ect. than a Wireless Go.

No comparison. Japanese vs Chinese.
LOL :)
The Blink has low frequency rumble, the Rode does not. Also, you should compare the Saramonic Blink 500 Pro to the Rode Wireless GO II, and they are the same price.
I just sent my saramonic back! Horrible Product and Horrible Customer Service! Got my Rode in and I love it!
Dear Max, I have a question for you. I bought a Blink 500 B2 set ( 2 Microphones and one receiver). If I buy one more receiver (Blink 500 RX), can I pair it with one of the two microphones I have, so that I can use 2 separate microphone-receiver sets?Thank you so much
HHHuummm way better sound with the built-in on the RODE, But not with the added microphone... So, probably why they include the microphone.
I plan to use the added mic, just more secure when streaming living on a mobile.
Plus it can come with the phone connecter...
Plus!!! I have easily have two separate mics without a added wire mess, that is just perfect!
I'm sold, Although will probably get both if possible lol.
If not possible, this one..
There is a cleaner sound with the RODE GO, so would keep that for the studio setups, but for the ON-THE-GO, this one for Sure... or Rode lol
Gotta stop ya riiiiiight there around the 5:50ish mark... No, these do NOT USE WIFI.... That is so irresponsibly wrong. . . These use the 2.4Ghz SPECTRUM, but that does NOT mean they are WIFI... WIFI is a communication STANDARD that is used for network communications. Unless I can hop onto my phone, look at the wireless access points around me, and see these devices show up as access points, they are NOT WIFI. Unless I can turn these devices on, and connect them to my wireless access point or wireless 'router', they are NOT WIFI....
That's like, if I were to create button, that when pressed released a burst of static on the 2.4Ghz spectrum, and went "this button has WiFI!"... it doesn't...
By saying these things use 'WiFi" you're potentially misleading 111.6k people into thinking that they can be accessed via their phones or over their wireless network, and they can't.
What if use Blink 500 with Senheiser Lavalier microphone? It is much better with equialent noise levels, so sound will be much better? And senheiser complect is $700, but Senh mic + Blink 500 = less than $300
why would you go for 30 or 50 meters away??? i think its build for vloging or interiew which is you dont have to stand that far. blink is good 6 Kits for Blink, including USB-C and Lightning interface RX's, all mix and match. Very cool system.
Not able to do multiple channels is a huge deal breaker. We will stick with our Sennheiser EE112p G4 lavs and 6 channel field recorder... Maybe this would be a good product for UA-camrs or Vlogers. Not for actual video production...
I see a lot of comments complaining about the mixed audio... it’s a valid complain but max mentions in the video you can buy a single rx/rx set with lav for $10 less than the single rode go. It’s still cheaper and comes with lavs. You don’t need the burned of 2tx/1rx (although that’s arguably cheaper considering a single tx is $99 on its own) As for the mixing comment. You’re right you can’t mix on the fly but each transmitter has its own gain setting so conceivably you could balance levels before recording. It’s not optimal but still.... I just don’t get why it’s a deal breaker and people completely turn their back on this solution because the reviewed configuration isn’t correct
Can you compare them with SYNCO G1 Wireless Mic System?
Hey Max- Thanks for putting this together. Helped me decide between these.
Fun Fact- I have that exact Projector you have the diagram for on the left hand side behind you.
Also it still has the original bulb from like the 20s and still works beautifully.

Hello, I purchased my last Rode because of you. Now, I think I may purchase the Rode in this video based on your review. This is a good video ... Hope Rode is paying you.
Yeah. The go comes out ontop. On the go adjustments on gain is a must. Especially the fact that you need a blend audio. Defeats the purpose of having 5 levels of settings that you can't even access on the fly. The sound quality on the Blink sucks.
