Thanks for taking us with you on these wonderful hikes. I'm always amazed at your energy as you cover these distances and climbs: it's definitely more comfortable to watch rather than take part (at my age anyway).
Stay safe on your travels 💖

Thanks Gregor for sharing this. I must admit I’ve only been to Galloway area once and compared to the Highlands, appeared fairly flat and less interesting to be honest. However, after watching your video with the stunning scenery, you have changed my opinion. It was just beautiful. For you to highlight just how isolated and remote parts you hiked through were, just shows how big that area really is.
Those derelict buildings would be perfect bothies and let’s just hope they can be restored and looked after for the future.
    Thanks again. Very enjoyable. 😊

Another great trip and I tried to follow along on the map but got lost a couple of times 😂
The only bit I’m familiar with is the SUW from 25 years ago.

Yeh I was just following random paths to be honest, so was hard for me to follow as well😂😂. Southern upland way seems great though

Epic hike well done 👍 my local hills. I always try and do a 2 nighter at least once a year and planning something similar to this. That section is a pain through the forest in the bog. Wouldn't take much to just build a forest road linking it up to the Loch Doon side. The Rhinns Of Kells on the other side of the valley and the Dungeon hills (the ones in between the Auful Hand that you done and the Rhinns Of Kells) are also worth checking out.

Will have to check them out at some point. Yeh the stretch through the bog was a nightmare haha

Great tour through Galloway Forrest & Southern Uplands! I've never been , so it was super informative. I was also wondering if midges were a problem there (obviously they are). You also brought back memories of trudging through boggy fire breaks in forests. 😮

Oh, I wish I could still walk like that! Well, maybe not the 23-mile days right enough - I've never been able to walk like THAT; but you know what I mean..! I always think of Galloway as one of the lesser-travelled areas of Scotland (I've never been there, 'cause if you don't drive, it just takes too long to get there!) So I'm really grateful to guys like you for sharing your walks on here. Now if I can just add another tip to your advice about not camping next to the water - see if there's a path on a map of Scotland? The map's usually the only place it can be seen - well, since about 1886, at any rate... LOL. I'm afraid there's far more auld hooses in these places than there's ever bothies - but they stand as a testimony to a former way of life, that probably died out with their last occupants, 50 or so years ago! During WW2, the German planes used to drop their bombs as they approached the east coast - and unintentionally kept places like Dundee on their toes... It was from there and for that reason that my granny took her three toddlers - one of whom was my dad - and his then baby brother - away on a bus in the general direction of Blairgowrie; and it was probably in such a house that they stayed for the rest of the war... and the amazing thing is, they've probably all got stories to tell. If only the stones could talk, eh?

    Great walk and great video.
Galloway was my stomping ground when I was a teenager. Roamed all over, camping and bog trotting. Basically honed my navigation skills there and first wild camps.
It often gets overlooked but Galloway is a fine place for walks.

Culsharg has never been a proper bothy. It was always roofed but didnt have windows or a door until about 15 years ago.
Was camping there in about 82 and lightning forced us in to shelter there. Wasnt exactly warm but it was shelter. We had walked in from the House o'Hill hotel in Bargrennan after getting the bus from home. Id have been 16 then. Didnt get a pint in the hotel😂
I believe the MBA was going to take it over but they didnt for some reason. The problem probably is that it is too close to the road so would end up getting neds drinking. That is a problem with bothies close to roads.

Brilliant advert for the natural delights of the Southern Upland hills, forests, lochs, bothies and trails. Notwithstanding the bogs, midges, and tics, but hey, this is Scotland, only the tough survive😂😂
Oh dear, did someone mention Potnoodles.
Can I recommend a channel, riverside200, for tips on camp cuisine. (His wildlife shots are brilliant as well)
The guy just did a video, camping by a loch close to your route, double cheeseburger with chilli sauce sizzled over a basic camp stove. He has a doggie companion as well so dinner for two.🐕🐕
    Realistically of course
The point is to enjoy yourself on long and mountainous treks without being crushed by the weight of the backpack.😟

Great video as usual. Sorry about the previous comment I left on your other video about if you're into cars and stuff. I mean you guys probably don't see many big sedans or other cars that are built for racing in Scotland. I mean especially in the country areas there. I really don't care much about cars anymore also man. I said I was not smart for drag racing all those years. I will delete that comment. Keep up the great videos they are awesome.

Sorry to be a pest Gregor, but I just posted a supportive comment (why would I do anything else)?? But it hasn't come up on your channel. 🤔
I've no experience whatever with utube and its oddities.
    Any advice??

There was an "at" symbol in my original text.. didn't realise utube was so sensitive, suspected embedded link maybe.
