I like the Mondrich family. Mr. Mondrich was a good friend to Simon in season one. The show focused on how a family can go from almost nothing to wealth. And they always stayed to themselves.
I found the Mondrichs storyline useless in s2, too. I think that, maybe, they do not want to fire the actors? But at the same time, they could have done better. The other feeling I get is that, somehow, Will is taking the spot of what could have been Simon's if Rege Jean Page didn't refuse to come back. It this is the aim, then they should have made Alice get more integrated and friendly with both Violet and Kate (at least). Last option for keeping them in, could be that their eldest son, now Lord, is intended to be Hyacint's love interest (since in the book is a nephew of Lady Danbury but I don't think they can keep to always get Lady D involved in every Bton affair 😅).
