What would you do if you can be better, faster, and cheaper but only compared to different industries or services, not the same one? Ie: instacart is faster than shopping yourself but not cheaper since there is a added delivery fee. But they are cheaper than other delivery companies since they don’t have inventory/assets. Is that something of value or should you focus your branding and positioning to focus on one industry and Value prop (being better, faster, or cheaper)?
It's not about being the first, but the importance of execution and timing is huge. For our business, we weren't the first to ever do what we do, but we did it better, faster, and cheaper, than competitors. Another great video, Garry!
Wow! I'm officially addicted to your channel Gary, ValueOverflow. I'm currently in idea stage with my startup, having lots of fun thinking and researching. If I exit with $5M+ I commit to write you a $100k cheque. Your advice and content is so helpful I'm super grateful to you maestro. 👏✊👌🙏✌
Hi Garry, found this channel a couple of weeks ago and I think you are absolutely nailing it. As you grow way beyond a 100k subscribers within a few months, please keep sticking to your humble, open, and concise format. This is what really makes it worth listening too. When Paul Graham won't start a YT channel, this is as good. Cheers!
I'm the one who raised the scenario of Amazon-->flipkart-->udaan in your pervious video. This is the perfect answer for my question. "You no need to be the first but you must be better, faster, cheaper." Great video..👏🏻👏🏻
I think it's amazing how nice Garry is. Most super successful people I know have bloated egos and are really full of themselves. Not Garry it seems. Thanks for the great content!
Garry, I appreciate you giving real examples instead of just theories. Your straight forward approach makes it easier to internalize the principles your teaching. great video
Garry I dont know how I discovered your channel but the quality of the videos are so HIGH I cant even comprehend how you have this little subs. I can see you blowing up if you keep it up. Greetings from Spain:)
Definitely an underrated UA-camr! I'm planning to start a business at my 40's. I have 8 years to go. I need this type of channel to gain knowledge / wisdom about the business world.
Hey Garry, you are changing lives, brother! It's like having a mentor that is available 24/7. Watching your videos gives me hope. It ignites the fire in me! Thank you for being real, thank you for sharing your stories. I recently join a venture capital firm because I wanted to meet investors and learn more about the VC space. I'm a UX designer by day and builder by night. I'm with my whole team here in Singapore, and we are building our dreams slowly. We appreciate your excellent work delivering the exact knowledge we need. Continue to touch lives!
I think being first is a marketing bias, because of all the data that says using "first" in your marketing grows your audience faster. When Instagram sold to Facebook there were already 25,000 apps in just Apple's app store doing the same thing, and when talking to a handful of co-founders found that the internals were so the same! So there is also freaknomics at work, where 10 people are all doing the right thing to make an exit, but chance only picks one. Thanks for the video, Garry. I haven't worked in tech in 2 years, but you're making me rethink swimming in the shark tank again. All the startups I worked for spectacularly failed, but you make me believe it can be different.
" Better, faster or cheaper " " Better, faster or cheaper " " Better, faster or cheaper " This was so difficult to listen to 😭 but sooooo good. Back to quiet to put my brain cells to some deep work. Thank you so much for such an in depth video Garry. I especially appreciate the detailed examples and your soothing voice 🙂
I'm not used to commenting on youtube videos but this is extremely helpful and I can't help myself! Thank you so much for going in-depth about the topic while still making it easy to digest by beginners! Great video, lots of love!
I really started watching your videos a few weeks ago, and I already encouraged myself to have a startup. Whether I fail or win I want to do it. Thanks for the lessons, see you one day when I have a pitch
exactly, a lot of people when they're thinking about startup ideas they think new or never been done before. but it's always better to take an old idea or market that's has not changed much in years and built something completely new or better e.g. Tesla with electric cars. sometimes when I tell someone an idea, sometimes their first response is oh someone is already doing it and I always say that's a good thing, it means there's a market for it. if it's very original idea, most of the times it just means there's no market for it or the market is very small. I used to teach entrepreneurship and I always explain value or the mechanism of delivering value in these exact terms better, faster, cheaper and I always add delightful. love ur videos. cheers.
This content gives me more confidence. You never cease to amaze me with your great self-awareness videos. This is why the best founders want to be backed by great people with first-hand experience.
Got it, simple and practical run through of important matters often forgotten. Looking forward for some deep dive of each of the three basic start-up characteristics. Thanks.
This was really good, I have an idea that I chased in 2018 but put it on the back burner. I’ve heard you on this week in startups with @Jason and your communication style is very easy and down to earth. I would say the biggest challenge for most people I talk to is not earning for 1,2,3 years. I don’t think we educate about risk enough, from investing to education or even who you date/marry. People are spending 150k on education or 30-50k on a certification but won’t spend 25-50k (expenses) to work on a startup venture. This is the first video I watched, will binge the rest 😎. Good stuff! Please tweet out any podcasts you do, would love to hear em.
Thanks again Garry for the great insight. Filling up my notebook right now. Wonder which one of these points you mentioned will disrupt the wedding industry next.
Well, the big thing is what kind of behavior change will the customers want? Weddings tend to be a little more timeless, so you have to know how weddings might change in order to understand how technology might affect it.
I was waiting for this video since I saw premiere , this is what means great content does to people. Again thank you Garry. When you come to Myanmar after Covid, I want to meet you pls.
Hey Gary I'm a big fan, I think what you're doing with your UA-cam channel is very admirable! I am a fonder of a software development start up so you have taught me a lot and given me inspiration.
Thank you so much🤕 I'm a 20 year old, from south africa, and I was starting to doubt the validity of my idea but this helped me get back on track thank you so much gary
Great video Garry! I am slowly going through all your recent videos ( I have my own niche start-up I run ), I appreciate you making this videos. You have good production and vast knowledge.
The big advantage of being first is the yardstick to measure you don't exist yet, so you will likely make some kind of impact if the problem is real and you can solve it (even in a mediocre way). If you have even one direct competitor, then obviously you must deliver something above whatever it is they have. Interesting video, though!
Thank you Garry for your skill in merging reality with perspective. There is substance and real value available on you video channel. You are up there with the best. Universal home truths are timeless be they books or videos as a source of learning. Greetings from downunder!
This is a great video, Tan. Your audience wants to know more about you. Early-stage of your career, your college education, your ups, and downs, etc. Thanks for the great videos and contents you are making. We are learning a lot from you.
You have the most underrated channel in the startup ecosystem. Thanks for sharing such amazing content in an articulate way. ❤️
I’m patient!

Shhh 🙊 best kept secret
Investor: “Are you better, faster, or cheaper than your competitors?”
Founder: “Both.”
Haha oh no!
😂😂😂
This is hillarious!
@@IsaOscar why?
😂 good one
This channel hits the Better ✅ Faster ✅ cheaper ✅ than alternative startup education.
Just trying to post something useful every week. Figure it will build up to something over time.

Garry , I can't wait!!!! I can't breathe. Love your content.🙏
Really appreciate that!
Thanks Garry for explaining details (with examples) about how to understand being: "better", "faster" and "cheaper".
Better could have been more precise, but it's a vague term to begin with
Garry, I appreciate you giving real examples instead of just theories. Your straight forward approach makes it easier to internalize the principles your teaching. great video
Thank you Jess!
This channel is gonna be massive. Such great, powerful information, explained flawlessly. Thanks.
Glad you think so! Appreciate that Mateo!
