The Nakamichi is the most interesting one for me right now, but I am very curious about Philips Fidelio B97 that is supposed to release next month, it seems to want to compete at the very high-end.

Personally, the Sennheiser Ambeo is far out of my budget, and is more of an enticing option that true audiophiles would be interested in as a potential replacement for an existing receiver-based system utilizing physical speakers at each respective channel preference/capability (9.2.4 vs 5.1.4 vs blah.blah.blah, etc.) who want to downsize or simplify their system by taking advantage of technological advances that enable an out-of-the-box solution that can satisfy them, or for an inexperienced (read: entry/beginner audiophile) enthusiast looking for an audiophile-in-a-box-for-dummies type solution (no knock on the "for-dummies" piece - I most-definitely consider myself to be in that category only without the monetary means to justify it). I'm not sure where your sweet-spot is for your Subscribers, but it's not necessarily a review that I would be looking at in terms of helping me make a purchasing decision. Though, I have to say I would very much like to see your personal take on this, and any of the others you've listed simply because I really like your review style.
I'm more interested in a budget cap of around $1500 US, and getting the best audio-enthusiast-tempting performance out of that budget, while ensuring an audio-for-dummies out of the box solution that doesn't require calibration, constant tweaking, etc. to get it up to that level. Stability is a major factor for me as well as ease of use, which is primarily why I'm not going for the Samsung options (based on your reviews - thank you!), and why I've also determined the JBL Bar 9.1 is not what I'm looking for. I would love to see you review the Nakamichi Shockwafe Ultra 9.2.4 system though, as this soundbar setup falls right in with my personal budget and, on paper, seems to be a competitive option to my current top choice - the LG SN11RG.

I have bought it in London recently and I am pretty happy with it. I have got it for £650. It was 2 times less expensive than HW-Q950T (£1300) and almost 3 times less expensive than Sonos set (£1856). Clearly the best bang for the buck.

Thanks for your honest feedback in these reviews. I'm glad UA-cam popped your videos into my recommends! This review in particularly has won my subscription to you, and I'll honestly say your the 1st Tech Reviewer that I WANT to receive notifications on. I have not been able to find what I believe to be a truly unbiased review on this particular soundbar until this one done by you. All other reviews I've come across make the viewer feel that this bar in particular is the better-buy compared to the LG SN11RG & Samsung Q950T options, and it sounds like it may have some points where it does. Your thorough review has helped me identify key points where it doesn't though, and has helped me make a purchasing decision that I am now confident I'll be happy with. Thanks for thinking of "every angle" and your consumer-forward review that compliments your technical review as well.

@@neverenoughtech I find your reviews to be as in-depth as I would like to be with every product before I make a purchasing decision. You're answering the questions I would ask either at the time of purchase, or ones that I believe I would have asked before buying a product but wouldn't have realized I had prior to having direct experience with that product. I hope that makes sense! I also appreciate the witty dry humor, it's right on par with my own.

I thought it worked really well with the C9 directly. I got some wired behavior when connecting streaming boxes to the C9. I imagine a little more focused work may have led to some useful debugging. I will say I just unpacked a competitor $999 system and, oh boy, the JBL is wayyyy better. Questioning whether I should even bother reviewing it. Appreciate the comment.

Almost everything about this soundbar appeals to me. I actually don't want rear speakers hanging around the house so the idea of taking them off, sticking them at the ends of my couch, watching a movie, and then sticking it back for a fuller sound on regular TV sounds perfect.
The only huge qualm I have is the lack of settings. If I can't make out the voices in something, the fact that I can't even do something as simple as turn up the center channel is really unappealing.

Disappointing that they are missing some woofers the higher ends are carrying. That being said, I hope you review the Vizio Elevate. It's like the jbl 9.1 in size and ideals, but fills in the gaps, literally and figuratively. The soundbar is only 32 inches, but has 2 woofers and a tweeter per channel, however it rotates the Atmos speakers down for any non Atmos content for a wider soundstage, which gives it 4 extra drivers over everybody else and turns it into a 48" soundbar. Now that's ingenuity! The Elevate will be, or close to soundbar of the year.

I need to upgrade my SONOS Beam+satellites (read: run away from SONOS) asap. And I'm considering both the JBL9.1 and LG 11. I am not an audiophile but do enjoy high-quality audio. I would love to take my first steps into 3D audio since I watch 4K Blu-rays. But the LG11 might be too big for my Livingroom. Do you think dialogue is about equally clear in the JBL to the SONOS Beam? And do you think the 3D is sufficient, considering I'm not looking for a home-theatre but more a Livingroom++ setup? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

@Remco Hekker I am a big Sonos fan. That being said you are not serving yourself all that well on a home theater front with the Sonos Beam. JBL probably works harder to create a 3D effect than Sonos ARC. And JBL is probably the home theater + experience you may be looking for - confident to say it’s a step up from beam + surrounds. For reference I roll with Arc-Sub-surrounds. Admittedly it’s not the most impressive sounding setup in every way but I do find it to be the least frustrating most well rounded solution - marriage material. If you do not have an eARC enabled TV then you will definitely want JBL as you won’t be able to enjoy uncompressed audio (no pass through ports and no DTS support) on the ARC unless you buy a $175 accessory

I am thinking about that bar because I leave in a tiny apartment and see a lot of value in having the wireless rear speakers. Goal is to pair this kit with a 49 X900e (only HDR10 and Dolby digital plus) and a blu ray X700 (dolby atmos and streaming apps) to have a decent 4k movie set up (plugging blu Ray player to the bar and arc the TV)
    Anyway couple of question:
    1) Would it be better to forget about a 5.1 set up and just get a cheaper bar + sub atmos kit?

for my home office use I would say it is perfect and good value. I love the flexibility of being able to move the speakers around depending on whether I am sitting at my desktop, or chilling on my sofa listening to music or watching TV/movie.
Certainly there are systems with better, more 'complete' sound, but honestly the sound from these is really very good, and all the better once I positioned the rear speakers pointing in the right directions. The sub woofer as you say, picks up a lot of slack.... but given it does so, the system overall works really well. I am quite happy to have a simple interface, particularly for home office use, I am happy to let the speaker do the calibration and be limited to bass, atmos and rear level adjustment.... its enough.
I would be more than happy to recommend these to anyone considering buying them.

Can we add extra surround speakers? If yes which will be the best for dolby atmos.

I bought one two months ago. I couldn't get the best quality sound from my q70 Samsung tv. SO, I bought Nvidia shield (the last generation) and since then I'm completely satisfied of the sound quality. And I finally be able to get the Dolby atmos from netflix and other streaming services. When you compare this one with other +1000 it is still very good choices.

    • @neverenoughtech
      @neverenoughtech  4 роки тому +1

I had success with the shield routing through the TV with my C9. I think you are probably right about the 1000 price point as I’m messing with another 1000 SB that definitely falls short

Thank you for the well crafted review. This appears to be a nice sound bar for a bedroom or for a secondary audio space. I would purchase one, but not as my main home theater source. @@neverenoughtech that blows so when it says atmos i get dolby surround lol on apple tv. Got disney+ my google play movies and they never indicate anything. @@neverenoughtech I'm using the apps on the smart tv. I still waiting for my 4K Panasonic player to test 4K's. My tv and JBL both have eArc. Connected even with an 8K cable. Does 2.0 HDMI output Atmos? I played Disney + Star Mandolorian says Dolby Digital Plus on soundbar. Went to my setting and put enhanced on HDMI eArc port and eArc to Auto instead of OFF. Guess non of the apps are outputting Atmos. Which I find odd when the Apple TV app has my latest movies in Atmos in description but still get Dolby Digital Plus on the sound bar. I appreciate you help you respond. Best guy on UA-cam for these reviews.

Do you know anything about a sound drop
    I just bought it
Im using it with a pc
    Its working fine
I mean the atmos and everything but i had some sound cuts
I was playing and when i went to the menu and back the sound was lagging then just gone
And then i changed the cable still the same
Then i tried out to play atmos sound and then something on youtube
And its maybe when its changing a sound im not sure
But in that time something is wrong cause it has a cut out
And sometimes its not just one cut out
Its more and doesnt stop and then the sound goes away
So i dont know what is the problem
But i think this could be a firmware problem cause everything is fine
And when i play something through airplay it works fine only through hdmi
