I was there with my LS swapped 63 International C1100, the cruise was a lot of fun and meeting everyone was great. Even with the rain, we need to do it again! Can’t wait for 2024

A VR team would be so sick, one driving the simulator van, 3 others tagging zombies out the windows.
Would it also be sick to be able to drive with him/them. I have a PC which can easily handle a driving simulator, and VR, just I don't have room for one, crap! I've always have been into the Rally games, boy, this has me thinking now. I can't afford the car, but I could still virtually drive the car of my dreams.
If anyone in here has just jumped into simracing, spend the money on a good set of pedals. A load cell break pedal is extremely important when it comes to simracing. It makes a huge difference when trail braking and such. Pedals IMOP are way more important than a wheelbase and wheel.
For a shaker, check out the diy dayton audio bst-1 and a 50w amp solution.
Cool practice rig. I thought about a flight simulator years ago but my wallet is way too tight for it lol. Me and my wife were at the open house and we enjoyed ourselves. I really enjoy the variety as it is refreshing. We will be there every time for sure. Probably chat at Motorama again in the spring. Great work!

2600 for the motion sounds good but the rest adds up fast. Nice to see it all laid out. Best to face reality before starting a build.
I was hoping 5k but without the PC. 2k for a computer doesn't surprise me. That's how you get to 7k plus.
Yeah most will walk away after hearing the motion rig cost but it really isn’t a barrier to entry especially if you already have a computer and don’t care about VR.
@DEBOSSGARAGE 3 monitors cost similar maybe more.
I've got the P3 with triple 32s attatched to it, vr was too hot for my liking.

Are the back ends of the pedals supposed to stick that far out the back of the pedalplate without support under them? Never seen that before..sorry!

Awesome set-up I'm building very similar with the DOF H2. Quick question :) where did you get the little table holding the PC and the UPS? Also, does the keyboard move when you type?

Since you are vr, this question may not be for you. How off putting do you think it might be if 3 monitors are used and mounted stationary and not moving with the rig? Do you have any insight?

at 800 dollar pc or less would run it fine like a 5700xt gpu with 8gb and 5800x cpu sweet gpu he has chosen though
You don't keep your foot on the clutch in a race car either. You should have a dead pedal/footrest beside it and that's where your foot should be when not changing gear.
I really want to get into sim racing, looked at it last year but simply couldn't afford it. I have old guy issues and this would be a blast. It is still out of reach, but quite a bit cheaper than what/when I looked. Thanks. Gives a guy some hope, LOL.

It's one of those things where you can spend astronomical sums of money buying equipment that really isn't needed. You can spend anywhere between 1,000 and 100,000. My setup is made of wood with a base logitech wheel and pedals coupled to a 10 year old PC and 2nd hand VR. Cost less than a couple of tyres for my real race car but is still great fun and really helps with learning new tracks. There are so many sensations missing from driving a sim compared to the real thing (which I do) I didn't see the point in spending loads and loads.
Is this the right movement? Is it realistic enough? I've been considering 6dof. Would that feel much better (besides my wallet)?i think it could be more universal for other than racing simulation.
I can’t really compare to that since I haven’t tried it. Having the stationary monitors is our mobile setup for shows is less immersive. Definitely less strain on the sim rig though, the ones who have mounted monitors on the rig end up adding all kinds of reinforcements to keep everything stable and it’s a lot of extra weight moving around.

Them dirty hands on the alcantara.🤣 Someone is gonna freak out.
That said. You don't need hands on the shifter all the time, just muscle memory for fast hands. I 'd rather have both hands to push into the turn if possible vs a lazy/late gear change. The simple flappy bits your feets touch on are far more important than the shifty part. Being able to stop and slow correctly is the single thing that can make a good racing driver.
I always have two hands on the wheel, it was trained into me by my parents from a young age. I've always wondered why people don't hold both hands on the wheel even in an auto.
Not much of an excuse to have your on the shifter because of the kenworth IMO, i drive manual trucks and automatically go back to the wheel.
An advanced driver course would probably help too Rich!

That's VR is some hideous quality 😅. I'll take my psvr2 and GT7 and My folding rig setup any day lol. Other then that, I'd take that fanatec setup over my wheel setup haha 😂.
