They don't understand the reason for their own irritation at the lack of noise. It's because when you are watching video the *noise* is what you respond to. You can't actually feel anything. When you are in the car - the G force and speed are what you respond to. Newsflash -> G force and speed are not - boring. lol. Cars don't need to sound like lawn mowers in order to be exciting.
@@summertyme5748 that's just a matter of opinion though. Most people prefer to hear the car as well as feel the "G force and speed". That's also what's exciting to them.
Thanks for mentioning the sound system. My test drive model s one of my biggest takeaways was that the stereo was the best system I’ve heard in any car, loads better than the already excellent M3P system in my old car. Taking delivery of my plaid tomorrow!
Excellent review and explanation! Thank you for comparing the different models to give us a better idea. The S-class for the interior dimensions really helped.
Excellent! Very thorough and helpful review. And you were right, I was on pins and needles waiting for you to discuss the steering wheel. This review captured and firmly held my interest. Much appreciated!
Overall nice review! Agree with your comments about great "daily driver" with minimal maintenance. We really enjoy our Model 3 LR (2018), but feel it's time to consider other cars. Model S Plaid is certainly a contender!
I have a 2023 long range it came with the 21” wheels I got a demo with 500 miles it’s was discounted 5k covered the wheel upgrade so I got the 20X10.5 square set up forged wheels I got the better handling was transformed the car 💯 the range was the same as with the 19” wheels that come with the car at no charge.
Getting into the frunk: if you get a fob, you can open it by pressing on the fob. Or you can open it from the screen if you don’t have fob or phone on you.
I have the gen 2 refresh and the headlights and taillights are soooo much better. That rear trim piece doesn't intrude into the taillights. One short falling is the charger door, it's faulty and often makes popping noises that sound like it's either offtrack or struggling to open against some resistance then suddenly give way.
@@DescartesRenegade absolutely, I love Tesla but at the updated prices I think they should look to add more value, even as an additional purchase option. Any option is better than nothing. I have a 2021 Model Y and I seriously debated buying the new S, but didn’t feel like it was enough of an upgrade in my life to warrant the cost. I like the look of the roof racks way better on the Y, the range is only about 70 miles more which is great but not almost double the price great. Personally not sure if I can get used to the yoke either, wish that was optional. The screen is 2” bigger on the S, but the Y is still good enough for me. More cargo space in the Y, seems better for camping plus it’s got more ground clearance. The S is more comfortable, quieter, faster and more range but it’s also longer and wider which makes it a much tighter fit in my garage. And the fact they did away with unlimited supercharging for X and S is kind of ridiculous IMO especially after all the price increases. Personally the only reason I’d even considering selling my Y right now is cause it’s worth at least 70k at the current market price which is a lot more than I paid for it.
Hello from the French Alps! Excellent feedback, thank you. I plan to replace my 2021 Model 3 LR Boost with this Model S Plaid in June 2025 so your opinions are very useful to me! Do you think the S Plaid is as agile as the 3 Performance on the winding roads in our mountains?
6:00 in and I like the way you put things but if someone has control of your phone they have control of your car as well. I want one but I am 98% positive that all your info will be flying around the world. Tell me I'm wrong my friend.
Great video! Not sure if I missed if you used the satin PPF to give the matte look or not. I was planning to go that route. If that is PPF wrapped, do you notice any issues with cameras since covering in the PPF?
really great review, you know a shit ton of information and you're clearly very passionate about it. my only recommendation is to have add timestamps to the video as it's quite long and it'll allow people to skip to the parts they wanna hear
It was a very informative video, although glossing over potential build quality issues with "I'm not gonna address it because the car is fast" isn't really a good excuse, it's an expensive car that is indeed a bargain for the performance, but is still held to a higher standard. Low maintenance is a fantastic plus to any EVs, despite the fact that a car this powerful is going to eat expensive tires like a fat kid with chicken nuggets at a Golden Corral.
and the new front-end design makes it blend in with all the other Teslas and it is not recognizable as an "S" it just looks like any other Tesla. Job well done!
I have a question…. When using the trip planner, can you set a minimum of the charge level remaining to calculate where to stop for charge? For example, you mention pulling into a charger with 1% left. That would stress me out. Can you instead state that there be at a minimum…say…10% limit where the car wont go below.? Not sure if my question makes sense, but would appreciate your thoughts/suggestions
I hate that the charge port opens side ways instead of folding up, if the charger is behind you it must be kinda annoying to try and go around the outer door
Those headlights are not unique to the PLAID. They’re the same headlights as the long range as well. Those headlights are not great either, in fact they were rated POOR by IIHS. That’s why Tesla has changed the headlights on the newer refresh models.
@@sunshadow9704 Not all Germans do and it is getting more difficult to drive at high speed in Germany. Anyways, I hope it will stay that way in Germany, Love it!
This is the video I've been waiting for. Very well done man! I have a MYP which I know you have owned. Hoe do you compare the handling characteristics? I'm not thrilled with the Ys handling. Thank you 🙌👏
I invested in Tesla when I drove the model SP 85 back in 2012. Bought a lot of shares and made a lot of money. Personally: I can’t bring myself to actually buy a Tesla because I am completely disappointed with their interiors. Every single Tesla, at the price that they are selling these cars, should include heated and cooled seats. The model X and model S should include heated/cooled/massage seats. The minimalist interior is also a major turn off for me. Even if they wanted to hide the buttons for the seat features, those features should be there. In many Teslas, they aren’t. The only Tesla I could see myself in is a model X but I recently ordered a Cadillac Lyriq because I wasn’t impressed with the interior space of the Mercedes EQS. I would probably take a BMW IX over the Tesla model X. The BMW IX has a lot of interior space and all the features I DEMAND.
It was pure arrogance launching these cars without giving buyers the option between the regular steering wheel and the yolk. That has always been my biggest problem with Tesla: it’s always felt like an ego trip by Elon Musk and right now we can see how that’s backfireing against their stock and against everything musk touches. The arrogance and the unprofessionalism is impossible to overlook.
absolutely , i drive since 2018 Tesla ( Model S& 3 ) would really looking forward to buy refresh Model S but as us said not having the option to choose wich steering wheel i have to use is unacceptable. Now a Taycan 4S is on the way , get ur shit together Elon !!!
A lot of people keep saying Teslas are quiet & they make no noise. Who cares? As long as it has brutal acceleration & speed, that’s all that matters.
They're as quiet as bicycles and tricycles.
...and long charging times lol
