Building Woodturning Tool Rests

  • My new woodturning lathe came with only one tool rest which is 300mm (12") long. In some situations I can not get that tool rest close to the work because it is too long. In this video I build a selection of different tool rests to use on my lathe.

      Thanks for watching. Yes, it is good that they think of me when things are being thrown out. Im sure we can find a way to use any scrap that comes our way.

      Thanks Matty. No it is not cheap. I want to look in to parkerising. It may be cheaper than buying the bluing solution. Mark Presling does a bit of parkerising in his videos.

    Nice job. Had a look at the Permablue and yes it is expensive. Liked your solution that used what we have in our shops. Cheers Mike

      Thanks. Another option is to parkerise the metal. I'm not sure what the cost would be, but this is something I want to look in to. Mark Presling has more info on this process in this video. ua-cam.com/video/Jk_Vo5svOnk/v-deo.html
