Hey just a heads up but if you send the actual molds to UM, you can ask them for STL files from their scans. They were nice enough to send me mine after a quick email.

Oh wow thanks for the tip! I didn't know they would do that

I just ordered a pair of UM Mest MKII. If i love them ill definitely be getting this sevice done. I have a pair of JHAudio JH13v2PRO that are custom and the comfort is outstanding! I love CIEMs. May i ask what the reshelling cost for fot Mest MKII, I would likely get the exact same thing.

Congrats, you deserve this pair. Looks stunning. When you had to refit, does that also mean you had to rescan your ear? What info did you provide for refitting purposes? And, do you still use the stock cable?

Thanks so much for your generosity! Appreciate it a lot! As for the refit, I simply gave my comment in wording, ie "Right side nozzle felt long as it's poking my ear internally a bit". I realised with 3D scans, at least for my ears, the nozzle typically comes out a little longer so I tend to get them shaved off a touch. As for cable, i went back to stock, i tried the EA Cadmus 8W, the NiceHCK Dragonscale but I still preferred the stock cable for ergonomics and sound

Congratulations to you man, wow. I think I'm still far away from CIEMs, I like the idea so that is not a problem, it's just that my ear canals are stretching or feels that way at least. This makes me fear spending more only to find that at some point my beloved CIEM can't make a seal anymore. With universals I can always swap eartips, can even swap when new ones come out and may in some cases find an even better sound from my old IEMs because of eartips.

Thanks very much! Yeah it's always scary to have that into consideration, which is why I'm testing my own ears to see how long my ears can fit these CIEM properly, but I'd think it'll at least last 1-2 years at minimum, which is typically what you'd use your universals for before you "upgrade" or anything. Also there are refitting services available which I guess helps to futureproof your CIEM as required but of course it comes with associated cost, ie, new scans, refitting costs, etc

The one thing I don't have in my collection is a CIEM. I've been considering getting some customs from Bellos Audio because I'm a big Fir fan but I'm holding off for now.

It's a huge commitment that's for sure as you're pretty much stuck with it for the duration of the IEMs life or however long your ear stays in shape which is why it's important that you're absolutely certain the sound of the IEM is what you can listen to for a very long time

Great video, buddy. What iem do you suggest? Campfire Supermoon, fatfreq Scarlet mini, fatfreq mini or UM Mest MKII, for enjoy the music, long sessions, all days, allrounded with, great bass, Slamy sound. 😁

I’d say the Mest honestly. Out of the bunch you listed, it’s probably the most neutral with the characteristics you’re looking for. The Supermoon looks interesting but the large dip in the upper mids to lower treble would make it sound husky and hollow. The Scarlet Mini is the IEM you want for bass, like a LOT of BASS despite having good overall tuning. The maestro mini is a bit less bassy than the Scarlet mini but has more emphasis on the upper mids. If you have any other questions be free to let me know as I own the Mest Mk2 and for $1000, they are amazing. 😀

Thanks, oohh personally if you're talking about all rounder than among all those you've listed, aside from the Supermoon which I haven't tested or heard so I cant comment about it, the Mest Mk2 would be the more balanced sounding one amongst the rest. I'd use Fatfreq if I want my bass to be the feature of the day, the Maestro mini would sound more balanced compared to the scarlet mini, but overall amongst the three, I'd pick the Mest personally for that balanced profile

But I think the ear shape changes over time specially if you workout lifting weights 🏋️

Weight lifting??? Who still does this?? Terrible for tendons and adhesion....

Even just getting older changes the shape. But hearing loss with age is common, so if you want to experience this fit at some time, better now than later

Yeah I read and heard about this so I guess I'm sorta testing it myself to see how long my ear shape can fit these CIEM, but i guess this is why they have refit services for futureproofing your CIEMs, but it comes at a cost
