Thanks to YT algo came across your channel last night and I am glad I did. Great review and more importantly your findings are mostly in line with mine which is very important if you have to follow a reviewer’s opinion going forward. I am mostly a headphone guy and don’t like IEMs because of constant readjustments my weird ears demand. I still picked up Mest earlier this year to see what the fuss was all about and couldn’t be happier, I loved them so much that I decided to re shell them to customs, sent back to UM who can re-shell it for USD280 plus 50 for sending it back to the UK. I think this is far better than selling to pick up customs again and other companies should offer this. Anyways, customs make them little bit better in everything I liked about them, and I actually notice the bone conduction and feel the magic it is doing to the presentation. I listen to a wide genre of music from poorly recorded track from 50s to contemporary and don’t like something that it too revealing of the source, I don’t even like Susvara for that reason although it is truly exceptional in everything it does. Mest 2 is like ZMF Atrium, fun tuning without losing on much details and most importantly keeping the musicality alive. I will be looking for something to complement Mest in the IEM space and was looking at Legend (X or Evo). I cant go back to universal route and Empire don’t allow re shelling unlike Mest so I will have to order in a custom which is a big risk. What are your thoughts if they are complementary? I am hoping they are coming for CANJAM London this month so I can try first hand but any thoughts you might have will be greatly appreciated. Cheers
Thank you for your reply. I am humbled by you guys continued support and affirmation that I'm not to far off from providing solid content that's useful. I will have something out for you about the legend x and mest and let you know
How do you feel about the base after getting them custom specifically? I got mine and ive been conflicted, I listen to mostly hip hop, jazz and rnb and I notice that sometimes they feel a little thin and like the mid bass is lacking, I love the imaging and on any orchestral hans zimmer emotional track its like guaranteed goosebumps and tears but for my genres im not sure, I thought if I got them custom then maybe it would solve a lot of the bass and maybe add some density because of the better seal and closer placement, do you think you noticed the bass getting better with custom?
a couple reviewers i’ve seen said they didn’t like that the mkii has a weird way of presenting instrument sound in that the iem splits the sounds of an instrument and separates them instead of keeping them together as it should be. and also that the mkii is not cohesive. apparently you can pinpoint each driver in the sound and you can hear what each one is doing. in your experience with the mkii, would you agree or disagree?
I agree with some tracks it can separate and makes it noticeable with playback panning from right to left but I don’t dislike that because it makes it different from some others in my collection personally. To me these are dynamic in nature especially with the bone conduction driver. Many have said that it’s better to get it custom rather than stock. Not knowing the fit for some people can affect the conduction driver. It maybe more extreme for them
layering and separation are top notch with mest but sound stage is lacking imo and sometimes I wonder what am I hearing if I even suppose to hear some weird shimmers, maybe those EST drivers reveal too much idk
Have you tried Mext? It is supposed to be more fun, with more bass and relaxed treble (no EST driver) but slightly less detail and lower price. I am having a hard time to choose among Mest Mkii, Mext, and IER-Z1R as my endgame IEM.
MusicTeck is the most reliable source for like new since they are the main US Distributor for Unique Melody. I was so surprised by MusicTeck because they actually emailed me since they saw me looking into the Mest Mk2 repeatedly and gave me an amazing coupon for a Brand New condition for the price of the Like New. Basically a brand new $1,500 IEM for the price of $1,000 instead.
That's a great question. Got the chance to hear both in the same day and I believe that these where better because of the price and the vocals just sounded warmer to me and not as pushed back. My source was the ibasso dx 300 no eq.
@@theish9 thanks for that!!! Do you believe they could still rival them speaking with mainly electronic music? Way I see it the evos are not going anywhere.. If they can at least rival them even if the evos still being a bit better can always pick them up later on
@@ilanraeayalabaciu2957 for sure. The evo will be there for you if you want that later. I have a custom legend x and at times the mest hit harder and cleaner
I have the Legend X and now MK2's on the way. Just the positive reinforcement I needed haha. Luckily/unfortunately I got one of the limited Ukraine versions (1/10) for 30% off, had to go in.
Most of Fir’s IEM’s are horribly tuned. The bass not only bleeds into the mids. But the Mids are extremely recessed and are almost flat. There’s a point where bass head differed from a $3,000 IEM and Fir need to reevaluate their prices.
Hey man, i appreciate your reviews
Glad it helped someone out.
Have you tried other Mests since like the Indigo, Mest 1 JP/HK, Mest 2 HK, Mest 3?
Awesome description of the mest mk 2 I completely agree very incredible iem 🔥👍
Thanks for the video Ish, understood about the bone conductive IEM's.
Preciate Barry. I think this is my longest video yet. Had fun with it

Nice. Bro been trying to get the sony for a while now. And i have not tried the Mext as of yet.
Where did you buy them used from? I recently bought a used like new from musictek and was wondering how the condition is
I got mine from ebay

The only reason why I regret buying this is not getting the custom version of this..
Yeah early in it’s inception many people sold quickly to get customs. That’s how I got such a good price
U can reshell it for $280, takes around 1mth-6 weeks
