    I love this Bible & love my CSB bibles that you have gifted me. Until you started Bible Review Blog, I didn’t even know there were premium Bibles. I had to stop the video and thank God for His goodness to me because of your comments. God’s Word is precious to me and I am blessed to know that I had a small part in your love for the Bible. As you well know, I love you with all my heart! ❤️

      I so wish that Schuyler would make a larger concordance. I just don't understand? I love my NKJV Quentels and then when I got to the concordance, it was such a let down. The font size is just so small, almost unusable. It would be better to just give us lined paper for note taking.

      This is so precious and amazing. I pray my children will be influenced by my love for the Bible as yours has. I can only imagine the feeling. I have a 14, 12, and 8 year old. All boys. My youngest son wants to be a preacher like his daddy. The older two love Jesus but are entering those teen years that I am praying through for them.

    I’ve been a fan of the NIV as a young Christian, developed into an ESV reader, and am now enjoying the CSB. I am amazed every time I open my Bible to think that God left His Word for me to study and I can hold it in my own hands! What a gracious and loving God! I hope to have the Schuyler Quentel one day.

    Yes, without doubt. I doubt think Holman will ever match the quality of Schuyler. Btw, Tim I just ordered the CSB psq Dark Green Goatskin with the red calfskin liner, full yapp. I can’t wait. I did 2-3 day shipping! This will be my first Schuyler Bible! I have a premium Cambridge, Allan, Crossway and Steadfast Bible. So this will pretty much complete my collection of premiums. I have Zondervan NIV and a Thomas Nelson NKJV premium as well. I guess Humble Lamb, Holman and a rebind would be all in missing. 🤔

    Just ordered this in marbled mahogany calfskin for Christmas! My wife said I have to wait to open it. I’m ok with that. I just learned of “premium Bibles” a few months ago and bought some of the mass produced goatskin NKJV, and KJV at the bookstore and really liken them. Have recently started reading the CSB study Bible and really loving the translation for reading, just big to hold and I am tearing the paper liner off the cover by holding it. So… Really looking forward to this one and my FIRST Schuyler! Thanks Tim, for your great reviews and love the comments about your Mom and her impact on your love for The Word! Note to young moms and dads out there. Read your Bible regularly in front of your kids! Wish I would have spent more time in The Word at home and less time leading teams and dealing with team drama at home when mine were growing up. Making up for lost time now! Thanks again, Tim! Keep ‘em coming! My favorite Bible reviewer by far.

    Great review Tim! I loved. Hearing your memories of your Mom; you are blessed to have her. I got my first Schuyler a couple of months ago. It is the NASB Quentel, wide margin, in Slate. I needed a replacement for my NASB I used when doing Kay Arthur’s Precept studies. I went to use it, and had forgotten how full of writing and highlighting. I learned so much from those in-depth classes for 12 year’s. Anyway, I was so awestruck when I received my first premium Bible and just touching it makes me feel the love of God. I am using it for my in-depth studies, but it is so large and heavy. That was kind of a shock. I had not looked at that info when I purchased it because I use at my desk. I have been waiting for the CSB Quentel to arrive, but I’m still holding off until I can get an Allen’s NASB reader. Thanks to your review, I was able to purchase the Allan ESV Text Only Bible. It will be my first Allan. I’m excited to see the difference between my Schuyler and Allan. I love watching your reviews and love your blog where you really lay out the issues. Is there a place to listen to you preach? ✝️

    You saved me money. I gave away my one and only Schuyler Quentel ESV because I was very disappointed with it. It sat on my bookshelf in it's box until my husband's granddaughter mentioned she was starting to get interested in the Bible, so I gifted it to her. I need thicker paper and wider margins for notes. And I don't know whether my Schuyler was a one off, but the leather was awful and the smell even worse! I was willing to give them another chance though, but never again with the Quentel. Thank you for your reviews, and thanks to your mother for being such a wonderful example for her son.

    Hello Tim from NE TN! I thoroughly enjoy your videos and Bible reviews. It was VERY touching to hear the tribute to your mother. How fortunate you are to have a Mom who loves the Lord and who set such a great example for you as a child. Praise The Lord! I am a CSB Study Bible owner. It is my daily use Bible. I love it and am very happy with the translation and readability of this Bible. The word studies and study notes make it a very useful Bible study tool. So far as the Quentel version, it is lovely. Wish they had the CSB Study Bible available in that model line WOW! The cost of that model may be beyond many people's budgets. However the craftsmanship and beauty of it sure makes it tempting to get one. Keep up the great work brother. Where do you pastor? Would love to visit your church sometime. God Bless! Gidday Tim. I'd like some help from you if I could. I love the CSB and I have a few, but the font size isn't the best for my eyes. I know that 10pt is about the largest it goes, so I was wondering if you know if Holman's is going to release a bible in a larger font, preferable 14pt's and over??? I love the study bible, and would definately get another one of those if it's bigger font. If they are not going to do that, where can I get one made for me in a larger font size??? I understand that it would be expensive, but I would really love one. Looking forward to hearing from you.

    I do not yet have a CSB or NLT bible. Of the other ones, I have several Schuyler Quintels. They make so many different colors, I try to not duplicate, so, at a glance I know which translation a particular Bible contains. So, I am debating getting a CSB in red, and the NLT in purple, the two colors I don’t have yet. Actually, I only have one black Quintel, the PSQ NKJV, so I am likely due a black Quintel, but these versions (CSB and NLT) seem to demand a less conservative color. Ha! I have an NIV in the Zondervan premium line in a lighter brown. I love the blue edging it has and text, but I still may get a Schuyler for the NIV to match the others. Maybe black? Too many good choices.

    • @deanbrandon3615
      @deanbrandon3615 2 роки тому

      Ok, I ordered the purple NLT, the most dynamic equivalent bible I have. It is a dignified dark purple. Now, the CSB; the firebrick red is one of the best color combinations Schuyler makes. A CSB in firebrick red is likely what I may select. I have an NIV PSQ in red, so my color scheme would be off a bit.

    So glad I found your channel. I have been looking for a better bound Bible (I tend to destroy the synthetic covers), and had *almost* decided on the Holman Handcrafted Wide-Margin because I loved the look of the single column text. But then I saw your unboxing! Wow! That thing looks bigger than my study Bible. So now I’m thinking the Quentel is the right choice. I prefer its cover, and I DO need the larger text, and it appears in this video that it’s smaller enough to be fine for both church usage and home reading. Wish it was single column, but ya can’t have everything. 😂 I also like they have several translations in the same format, so if I like the CSB, I can get ESV, NASB, etc and know what it’ll look like.
    Just wish there was a side-by-side comparison between this and the Holman Wide-Margin. 🤷🏻‍♂️😉

    The font on my CSB Quentel looks slightly more bold and slightly smaller than my NASB Thintel. Fun fact, the CSB gets to Rev 22 in 1520 pages and the NASB in 1642. There are also about one more words per line on the CSB, which makes me think it’s more like a 10.5 font not an 11. Tim, what are your thoughts on this?

    • @timwildsmith
      @timwildsmith  3 роки тому +1

      I have not seen a word count for the CSB, but I would have to guess that it is significantly less than the NASB (which is over 782,000 words). My ESV Quentel gets to Revelation 22 on pg 1572, and I think it's about 25,000 words less than the NASB.

    • @HenryPipes
      @HenryPipes 3 роки тому

      @@timwildsmith very interesting. Intuitively I would think a more literal translation would be shorter but I guess a little more dynamic translation is actually more concise. Does the ESV font look about the same as the CSB in size and boldness? Just curious.

    You can get a goatskin Bible in blue color from Thomas Nelson the premier collection with 11 POINT FONT and excellent thick and firm goatskin unlike some of the floppy ones I have seen from other places but it is at least 1/2 the price of the Quentel.

    Great video! Schuyler is kind of the silver back in the room anymore, and my personal (amateur) opinion is the CSB is the most under rated translation. I’ve been on the fence about a premier CSB. I look forward to the next episode.

    Thank you for this review. After watching your review of the CSB Verse by Verse I thought I would give it a try, Within the first couple of days of reading the CSB, I was in love with the translation. Since then, I’ve had my eye on the Schuyler CSB in dark purple with blue under silver art gilt. I’ve never owned a Schuyler and hoping to make the Schuyler CSB my first one.

    I bought this same bible in the KJV and got it this week, along with a wide margin Crossway ESV. I must say the goatskin Quentel just screams quality... until you open it up and see the terrible ghosting. Schuyler really dropped the ball going to the ultrathin paper. The Crossway cost half as much and the paper is night and day better than the Quentel. The only way to get halfway descent paper in a Schuyler is to buy a wide margin. Such a shame to put such terrible paper in such a beautiful bible. I'm hoping when Schuyler does the next printings of the Quentels, they will use better paper. Who cares if it results in a thicker bible?

    • @timwildsmith
      @timwildsmith  3 роки тому

      Maybe you got a Canterbury, because they don't make the Quentel in KJV... very similar. I don't mind the slight ghosting.

    • @joesixpack7551
      @joesixpack7551 3 роки тому

      @@timwildsmith Yes, but the same 28 GSM paper as the Quentel, which is what I was talking about. I do love the bible, but not sure why they can't use better paper?
      You really need to look at a Crossway; zero ghosting, but the font size of the Crossway it too small and not as nice as the Schuyler. The only flaw I can find with the Schuyler is the ghostly thin paper, which when the product is a book, tends to be a big deal.

    Be very careful with these new translations, I've noticed in many new age translation in many cases like in this case "2 Samuel 21:19" it is incorrectly translated. David killed Goliath, not someone else. See in CSB if it say "the brother" of Goliath, if it says "the brother of Goliath" then it is correct, otherwise this translation cannot be trusted. the KJV and the NKJV for the most part are far better than these newer translations.

    • @timwildsmith
      @timwildsmith  3 роки тому +2

      Thanks for sharing, Gunther... this is an interesting little bit of Bible trivia. Translations like NIV, NKJV, and NLT all say "the brother of" while NASB, ESV, NRSV, and CSB do not. What's happening here is that the best Hebrew manuscripts that are being used to translate into English do not contain the words "the brother of" in that passage (that's why the NKJV puts those words in italics). So it creates this weird question of who killed Goliath, since it clearly says David killed him in 1 Samuel 17, but here in 2 Samuel 21 it seems to say that Elhanan killed him. The footnotes of most translations will point us to 1 Chronicles 20, where it says that Elhanan killed "Lahmi the brother of Goliath."
      So I think what really happened is that David killed Goliath and Elhanan killed Goliath's brother... but for some reason the phrase "the brother of" was accidentally left out of the Hebrew manuscript in 2 Samuel 21 (probably an honest mistake somewhere in the long history of these texts being copied down). Some English translations add "the brother of" back in because it seems to make the most sense, but other translations keep closer to the original Hebrew and opt for providing a footnote that explains it was probably Goliath's brother.
      All that to say, this doesn't mean that the new translations are incorrect (you could actually argue that they are more correct). They just approach the process of translation from a different perspective (often called the "translation philosophy").

      @@timwildsmith: Thanks for your prompt response. The biggest problem I’ve come across to realize is that all the new translations are from the Wescott and Hort manuscripts. These two individuals were Roman Catholic Priests and very much into the occult. They were avid followers oh Origen who lived during the mid 200’s AD. He was from Alexandria Egypt. Origen doctored the copies of the original manuscripts to indoctrinate the masses. Textus Vaticanus, textus Sinaiticus are the most corrupt manuscripts that were found in a trash monastery. I can go on and on, but if the newer translations were from textus receptus for the New Testament and Leningrad for the Old Testament then there wouldn’t be much of a problem. But the newer versions are not from the received text like the KJV and the NKJV. Also, in order to copyright a translation (for profit) there must be a 10% difference in the translation from others. The KJV while not a perfect translation but a very good translation is the only version that is not copyrighted. Again, if only these newer translations just translated from the received text just like KJV then we wouldn’t have so many issues. Always remember, just a word that is mistranslated could make a lot of difference and problems. Blessings.

      Thanks for sharing, Gunther. I’m not a TR expert by any means, but I’ve done my fair share of reading and research about the texts being used by the modern translations (and studied under some of the world’s leading New Testament scholars), and I feel comfortable with their textual basis.
